    This is my car except I have a convertible. The review is spot on. The interior feels luxurious and classy. It's a place you want to be. The touchscreen and Sync 3 are awesome. This car is great for the mature, conservative driver who just wants a great ride or someone who lives in an area with lower speed limits. If you want that extra power, flip the mode switch twice into Sport+ and have some fun. Great review.

      Travfdy I agree - I really loved this car. Would definitely own one! I'm sure the convertible is a lot of fun too - thanks for the feedback 👍 I'm glad you liked the review

      The Test Drive You're welcome. Oh yes. A premium convertible is very affordable. I got mine for only 25k with 8000 miles on it. I've seen 2016's out there as low as 20k.

    I just bought a 2017 Mustang ecoboost premium package. 74,000 miles
    Ment condition ceramic coated yellow. And it's fast .
    My last Mustang 2013 v6 .was nice . But my ecoboost blows away the v6 .....
    This is nicest car I have ever had . And yes you are right .
    It is really fun to drive ... l had it in sports mode paddal shifting .
    From 1geae at a dead stop to 3rd gear I was 60mph . And I haven't even hot to 6th gear .
    Great car .
    Good video.

    The ecoboost is good car for someone who loves the look but don't need the power of the V8.Once you own a V8 mustang you don't want any other engine in it.I had an older mustang and the sound of those four barrels opening up was intoxicating.

    • @TheTestDrive
      @TheTestDrive  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mr. Groovy 2 Shoes agreed, if I was to buy a Mustang I'd get the V8 (I wouldn't be able to daily drive it in NY with the winter anyway so might as well get the V8). The last V8 Mustang I drove was a 2005 but it sounded awesome. I have yet to test the latest generation. Although I might as well wait for the new 2018.

      I could agree. I miss the sound of my 93 GT. But as crazy as it sounds I just have more fun in this Eco boost. It’s not crazy power that it’s unwieldy, but so much fun I have a smile on my face every time I get in.

      @@andreaescano9641 I would be interested to see how much more you can squeeze out of this engine with a good tune and some modest upgrades. I think for a sporty daily driver it's really nice. Me personally I would opt for the 5.0, but for the Wife as a daily driver this is perfect for her.

    I just bought this exact car with the 6 speed manual. 48 Miles on her. It’s truly amazing. I drove the V6, and it feels a bit laggy but still really fast when you get it right. I wanted a 5.0 but didn’t want the higher price. This car is plenty fast for my needs.
    Great review spot on. Have you driven the manual version? It’s a complete different feel.

    • @TheTestDrive
      @TheTestDrive  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Justin Weathersbee congrats that's awesome! I have not driven the manual yet but I want to. I'm sure it's awesome paired with this EcoBoost. Not only does the EB put down a good amount of power but it's so surprising coming from a 4-cylinder.

    • @SerendipitousProducts
      @SerendipitousProducts 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Test Drive that was my same thought. I pulled out of the dealer on the test drive and got into it and was like “wow” that was unexpected. It even chirped the tires on shift from 1st to 2nd then in to 3rd again. Coolest thing is the gauges I have set at light blue and when I hit 6000 they all turned red, then blue and I dropped the rpm. Neat little feature.

    • @TheTestDrive
      @TheTestDrive  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Justin Weathersbee that's really cool - did not know about that feature! The technology including the ambient lighting in this car was awesome. So you ended up with the outgoing 2017 body style or the new (although not entirely new) 2018??

    • @SerendipitousProducts
      @SerendipitousProducts 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Test Drive outgoing 2017. I love the aggressive look. I will say after driving this car for a day now. I really have no Buisness getting a V8 version. I would personally be crazy in that car. Sport + mode in this car on a long on ramp just crazy fun.
      My one complaint is the rear view camera I wish the car icon matched the car color you have. Mine is shadow black car but a white car on the camera.

    • @SerendipitousProducts
      @SerendipitousProducts 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    If you can't afford a v8 this is a great alternative. I have this same car for 3 weeks now and loving it. You can still swing out the ass end and the premium trim is sweet

  • @infowazz
    @infowazz 5 ปีที่แล้ว +11

    With my budget, this car is at the top of the list. I'm not a muscle car kind of guy (not a snowflake either lol) but this car is solid all around. Ford is on their game for sure. Its funny how car companies all copy each other. This looks like a Honda Accord coupe of BMW.
    Ecoboosts are easy to find used and you can get a good deal. 16K for a 2017 with 38K miles is pretty sweet. I was spoiled when I lived in NC where there were barely any police. Where I live now is ridiculous so having a really fast car here is dumb. I see so many people getting pulled over.

      @infowazz 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@reaperactualgaming3075 Ok the new one isn't bad and u can make it look much better. i'm too old for a Civic now. Mustangs look and sound good and drop panties all day long. They do have that meathead vibe tho and too common. I'd rather get a BMW 440i and eat the repair cost if I get unlucky. Used BMWs are decently priced with warranties and handle wayyyyy better. Audi S4 would be awesome
      Then once I start making better money i'll get a used Jaguar F type for like 40K. Love that classic body style.

    Why do people forget that Mustangs came with 4 cylinders for decades? There used to be a Mustang trim for every buyer. It was only in the 90's that it went away. Now it's back and stronger than ever. Do people not realize that the Ecoboost has more power and is faster than Fox Body 5.0's from the late 80's and early 90's?

    comment posters say all the same things. "4cyl dont belong in there on v8" blah blah lol. do some research my gosh all the comments from people who don't know mustang history. the 4 cyl turbo was in a mustang before the official "5.0" motor itself, do research for "84-85 1/2 SVO " its a collector car now, and did quite well in it's time, and has a cult following to boot. and guess what as far as HP the new ecoboost kills it!. i happen to own a SVO back in the day and several other american factory turbo cars. the fact they put out this tiny motor to propel such a in reality otherwise heavy car is amazing. more people should be grateful to ford to put a turbo mustang out in the middle of the turbo craze era. this thing is amazing. i could have bought a GT if i wanted as well and ofcourse i also like the GT, but i like turbo cars they are different and fun. for for not to much more mod money you can get an ecoboost running right next to a GT. so what it doesn't sound like a GT. if all you care about is the sound of a car versus actual performance. log out of youtube delete your account and take down your sti posters on your wall. be grateful to ford they nailed it with an ecoboost. also if you have never driven one or been in one please do us all a favor shhhhh it and watch and learn. the thing feels great half the people that don't know much about mustangs don't even know its a 4cyl when i give them a ride. and the interior is amazing as well. so please if you never driven one or know any history just be quiet you are not helping your self.... toodles!

    I just recently had the opportunity to sit in the mustang, a 2017 EcoBoost model and I even sat in the back seats, depending on who's in the front driver or passenger seats, the rear is decently spaced for someone who is 5'10 200 lb.

    More power than the V6 ? Yes.
    Better mileage than the V6 ? Yes.
    BUUUUUUUT ...
    You gotta use Premium gas with the Ecoboost, which is about 50 cents per gallon more expensive (for EVERY gallon for the life of the car) than the Regular gas you use in the V6. Over years of driving, that Premium gas is gonna cost you a bundle.

    • @johnblake8886
      @johnblake8886 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      WRONG, it runs well on 87 octane and the owner's manual states that BUT high test gives you the maximum 310 horsepower. I have a 2015 and it runs great on regular 87 octane gas

    • @M4B21S88
      @M4B21S88 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      John Blake it is true that the Ecoboost makes its rated HP of 310 on 93 octane though.
      Ive always used 93 octane in my car. It certainly doesnt bother me to spend $5 more at the pump, at all.
      On 87 octane, the car makes about 275 at the crank which is about 230ish hp to the wheel...

    It wasn’t long ago that you had to buy a V8 GT to get the power this 4 cylinder gets. That’s nothing to scoff at. However the V8 is more than just the power....it’s the entire experience and character of it. The 4 cylinder could do 0-60 in 2 seconds and I would still prefer the V8. But there’s no reason to shit on anybody who buys the eco boost. It’s very impressive to say the least. But I have to have the whole experience which requires the V8 growl

    Nice review! I'm on the edge between a maxed-out 2018 ecoboost or a base 5.0 due to the price tag. I'm leaning more toward the ecoboost...seems to be plenty of power for a daily driver and easier on the wallet. Did your test car have magna-ride suspension, or is that new for 2018?

    • @TheTestDrive
      @TheTestDrive  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Scale Lawn that's a tough decision! If you live anywhere with snow the 5.0 could be an issue as a daily, but the power and sound are awesome. I might lean toward a loaded EcoBoost because at the end of the day it's still plenty of power and I'm all about having leather, nav, etc. Mine did not have the magneride - it used to be offered only on the Shelby GT350, but now for 2018 it's offered with the EcoBoost and GT performance packs. I can't wait to test it.

      @TheTestDrive  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Michael Zhou I was on a completely flat road where I do almost every 0-60 test. I would've loved to see it do better. Maybe the air quality in NY sucks or the tires are sticker than others...Who knows. Do you get 5.7-6.0 accelerating off idle or do you brake-torque launch the car?

    • @mnmz6934
      @mnmz6934 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh I see, yeah I live in California and most of the time temperature and humidity are ideal for the turbo cars. However, we don't have 93 Octane sadly. The best time I got was a 5.7 with advanced traction control off, at idle, and slightly downhill. The average time I've been getting are 5.9-6.0. Nothing really above 6 though. Great review by the way!

    • @TheTestDrive
      @TheTestDrive  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Michael Zhou that's awesome and thanks I'm glad you enjoyed it. I was in California two weeks ago and I only had to fill up twice but I noticed neither of the gas stations had 93 so that makes sense. I have another video where I test this Mustang with 87 vs 93 octane and it only got 7.1sec with the 87 octane. Same road and outside temp one day apart and I did the run twice with each fuel to make sure it wasn't just a bad run. So the better fuel really does make a difference. It's a great car and engine regardless though.

    • @mnmz6934
      @mnmz6934 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, that's what I noticed too, this mustang does need premium gas to get better performance. Oh yeah, for the price and what you're getting, I think this ecoboost mustang is one of the best bang for your buck cars out there. Decent gas mileage, power is there, numerous tuning options , and overall a great looking car.

    • @TooManyChoices1
      @TooManyChoices1 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Test Drive
      The ecoboost loses like 15 hp per octane level you drop! It’s really slow with 89octane because it’s down something like 40hp to keep from pre-detonating the fuel in the combustion chambers.
      You will lose to a Civic si if you run weak gas in the ecoboost.

    Started the video, thought I left my vacuum cleaner on lmao !😅😝✌🏽
    Very cool car, but too big and heavy for a 2.3l Turbo. They should have supercharged the V6 to about 350 to be more “American”, or bored the block out to 4.0L to get the 350 hp and then sold the ecoboost 2.3l overseas for 3years or so and let them sort it out lol !
    That would have done two things. 1. America gets a “special” version of “OUR” base V6 car as a send off before it was discontinued(a nice send off for years of V6 sales) and 2. Europe gets a 2.3l Turbo mustang that meets their fuel standards as well as the US market gets to see what the potential of the Turbo 4 is before it replaces the V6.
    A 350 hp and 325tq V6 would be a track carving monster with the light front end , no turbo lag , and all the power being available from 3500-7200 rpms, mmmmm 🤓👍!
    I can’t bring myself to test drive an ecoboost 😞.

    • @TheTestDrive
      @TheTestDrive  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You must have a pretty powerful vacuum cleaner! LOL. I agree with you though. I know they aren't supercharged but I would even love to see this with the turbocharged 2.7L or 3.5L EcoBoost (OR the 400hp/400lb-ft 3.0L in the new Lincoln MKZ and Continental).

      Just install the Ford Performance package.... that should solve some of the HP limitations. That adds an extra 40HP at the worst and 100HP at the very best section of the power band. I'd like to see the 0-60 with just those mods.

    • @TheTestDrive
      @TheTestDrive  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      MrAlternation I don’t know if you’ll find a used Mustang EcoBoost under 15k (maybe you can). Depending on where you live the 300s offers available AWD and is more practical (4 doors). But the Mustang is better looking in my opinion. The 300 might cost less to maintain since it’s naturally aspirated. If you’re really split between the two I’d look for the better deal.

      It might be boring, but get a economyish car that won't break the bank with repairs/fuel/insurance costs, I have had freinds who bought awesome cars but they are parked alot because they couldn't afford to run them as much as they wanted.
      that being said don't buy something you hate to use.
