This is absolutely one of the BEST EcoBoost Mustang reviews !!!! Reason being that he reviewed the Ford Performance add-ons that DON'T void the factory warranty....yet give you 90 ft lb more torque. Wow ....amazing. Thanks for posting !!!!
I've never understood the logic of buying a base model performance car and then spending a ton of money in upgrades to improve the power and appearance. Why not spend the money upfront and get a higher trim that actually comes equipped with better performance and styling?
J High cuz higher car payments, and higher insurance. I got my 2017 ecoboost premium for 26k plus I got the tune and got it installed all for $750 and now I have a 335hp-390trq rwd coupe for less than 27k. The GT was going no less than 32k at the dealer's near me 🙁.
You prolly dont give a shit but if you are stoned like me atm you can watch pretty much all of the new series on InstaFlixxer. Been binge watching with my gf these days :)
Agree to disagree; I actually owned a 2014, and was disappointed by the 2015-2017 front end. The rest of the car was nice, but I think it actually looked more like a Fusion than the current model. Whichever body style you prefer, you have to love the IRS, and the power/power potential of the ecoboost engine (not to mention the mileage when you’re not putting your foot in it).
Viren vs and probably more powerful than the current 4-cylinder. Who cares about cylinder car? If it’s powerful, has good mpg, and still looks good, there’s no reason to care (unless you have to compensate for something or are a professional driver). Plus gas prices will be way up in 2025, so have fun with your v8 getting no mpg.
There's no disputing the impressive power & performance you can get from a turbo 4 cyl., but every Ford model equipped with Ecoboost has proven to be less reliable than their counterparts, based on the data from Consumer Reports, your partners.
Sorry, when I said counterparts, I meant the "non-turbo" models in the Ford lineup. The old Duratec turbos were no exception. The bulk of overseas sales is the GT. Ironic, since the turbo was meant for them. Yes, Ford is overall better in reliability, but the Camaro is more reliable than the Mustang.
one question that would help me a lot. Did you/anyone observe that the 2015-2016 has a serious AC problem ? Mine started to loose it after 40000km and I somehow associate it with a period in which I had used the re-circulate option. ( btw one freon refill is about 220 in EU, which is not cheap )
Horsepower and torque gains are poppycock, AutoGuide. However, if Craig Cole (the greatest reviewer ever) says so, then according to the laws of physics it must be true.
The aftermarket tunes from COBB and such have been put through the paces on many dyno runs. You can easily get the kind of torque and power out of the Ford Performance tune as well. Quite easy to get some extra power when there's a turbo on tap to push up the boost just a little bit with a tune.
I'm thinking for about that price you could get a 5.0 mustang from a dealer looking to move one off of the lot. If nothing else get one a year old and pay the same for a much more powerful Mustang!
Low end torque is better in a stock ecoboost than a stock GT. You must mean top end, where the V8 engines will always beat out any stock I4 or V6. The reason why someone would prefer the turbo over NA is the torque is available much sooner (lower rpms) than with a NA.
Insurance for a current Mustang GT isn't bad at all. I pay $500 to $600 per year for 100k/300k limits. That's cheaper than the Mazda crossover I replaced. A Subaru WRX would have costed me an additional $700 per year. I'm in my 40s and live in the congested San Francisco peninsula.
Who are you getting insurance from? For my eclipse, mustang and $1200 del sol, all these cars individually, i pay +$800 every 6 MONTHS for BASE insurance. No accidents/tickets. How do you get full insurance for a year of just $600? wut
Geico. I also own a 2016 Kia Soul, so it's $1100 to $1200 total for both cars, and the policy includes my wife. I've been driving/insured for almost 30 years.
I bought an Eco and put a ROUSH kit on it bringing it up to 370hp. The reason... I am involved in the Mustang community and show my car cruises etc... After selling my 66 and 05 GT convertible I decided on a new pony. I figured everyone would go out for the GT/V8 or Shelby, Saleen Roush...those that just wanted a Mustang would probably get a V6. I wanted something different. So far I have been the only, or one of just a few Ecos at the shows and cruises I've been to. The car is super quick and extremely light and nimble in the twisty back roads. Yes, I miss the sound of the V8s, but I feel I made a great decision.
Nope I still would not think twice about getting the V8 and would buy a used one before buying a new 4 cyl. You don't have to drive hard any V8 to truly enjoy it: gee just listening to the engine idling is absolutely trilling. And if you have an auto you can get goose bumps remote starting it as walking toward it you can appreciate already you drive something so special. No need to mention how much more special it is to drive a V8 hard than a 4 cyl. I am not saying all 4 cyl. are bad. It is just that I would look at a hot hatch before considering buying a mildly hot mustang ecoboost.
Fiesta ST is good, Focus ST is very over rated (i have one) Ecoboost Mustang is probably one of the best cars of the 21st century, it's so damn good. Who wants to sit at idle to enjoy a car? I want to hear boost build and feel the pull. V8 Mustang special?... lol
@@neils419 yeah I changed my mind on it something about the vehicle didn't seem right so and the salesman was pushing it hard I told him to eat a D lol
The 6 cylinder is considered the base model of the mustang lineup and the ecoboost shortly behind the GT. Not many performance aftermarket parts out there the the 6cyl either. Also a fair amount slower than the ecoboost stock to stock
Most people who get the ecoboost dont have that extra money to get the v8... they do these upgrades over a few years... its like saying don’t buy the GT... save the mod money and get a shelby instead.
@@infA111ous I have the money for the V8 and had every intention of buying the GT until I playfully decided to test drive the 2018 EcoBoost expecting to be underwhelmed. I was pleasantly surprised by the very fun to use torque and more than capable handling in a good looking package that put a smile on my face and at 25,000 bucks for the premium there was no way I was going to pass up that deal. I have a 2004 GT and other than the sweet V8 sound my EcoBoost beats it in every category. Ford has done an outstanding job on the EcoBoost. Don't sleep on it like I did.
Care to explain why the Ford GT is a twin turbo V6, and not a V8, V10 or V12 then? I’d say based on real word results, there is a replacement for displacement - good engineering.
Because the Ecoboost is a much better car than the GT. Ecoboost is probably top 5 best daily cars of the 21st century, probably the best after 2015 for sure.
that's 320 pound foot of torque! why don't you know how torque is measured?? you wouldn't say "horses power" so why say "pound feet"? torque is measured by putting a weight on a bar at the length of one foot from the centre of the wheel, not feet, feet makes no sense at all. A car guy would and should know this.
Why would you waste a dime putting any extra money into this car with an automatic. Even if it had the 10-speed still a waste of money if you know how to drive get a manual that's what this car should have. If you need an automatic you should buy something else
I must say though, I work at the Flat Rock Assembly Plant. And these mustangs are definitely very well built. And I'm proud to help build it 😊👍
FoMoCo 1 , I love the mustang. I was so happy to see one crusing the streets of Japan happily among the Skylines and Silvias. Keep up the good work!
FoMoCo 1 thank you because I have the V6 and I would like to keep it for a long time like I did the 2006 pony package.
redconvoy you've got yourself a great car trust me :-)
Please try to line up the panels better. Also orange peel in paint is unacceptable

Lol!!! That was funny when Craig closed the hood on the warranty info and left words sticking out of the panel gaps!
Just buy the tune and air intake and call it a day
And crank up the boost tomarrow :)
Jake Sommerfeld it was a joke!
Jake Sommerfeld for sure reply to me but you don’t need to tear down my joke.

Because the base stang has a better weight balance.

You guys make great videos! I think I'd watch nearly anything you make on any car!
The 2017 looks so much better than the 2018.
Na
Way better. The 2018 looks like a concept they threw out before landing on the 15-17 look. Which is why I got a 2017
Not if you have a 2018 you would think different , thats your mind playing telling you otherwise

I bet the 2025 mustang will have a 3 cylinder turbo engine
probably a hybrid
Only in the mustang gt. Base model will have a v twin

ehab ezat I’d by a hybrid Mustang. You can make a hybrid WAY more powerful than a V6 and make it on par with a V8 (with better torque).
Wait, you're actually ok with all this downsizing crap? I didn't think people like you existed. I take it you're a fan of Volvo, right?

You are an excellent reviewer - great content with a splash of humour. Nicely done.
Why not get a GT350 over a GT? Hell its people"s money and they can spend how they like

cadsux completely untrue. The bulk of Ford sales are ecoboost and this year Ford is ahead of Chevy and all of Chrysler in reliability.

cadsux so why they got rid of the v6
They weren't selling as well as the Ecoboost or the V8.

I think you should research what torque is and how it's measured, you sound like an amateur with this "pound feet" nonsense.

$99 for a badge??? How many horses does that get you? Ahhhhhh right!! 16, lol

It’s important to specify whether u r in Canada or USA
With these upgrades you never stood a chance!
How much mpg did they get with the upgrades?

This is a good 👍 thing
I still don’t understand people who buy a 4 cylinder mustang and mod it to be faster.. why didn’t you just buy the v8...?
48/52 weight distribution and torque
I bought an Eco and put a ROUSH kit on it bringing it up to 370hp. The reason... I am involved in the Mustang community and show my car cruises etc... even with the mods it gets better fuel economy than the v8. also, the weight distribution makes it a better handling car.
With the money you save by getting the EcoBoost you can mod it and it would eat the 5.0 and you would still have money left over....
The same reason people who buy the V8GT didnt save the mod money and buy a Shelby

did they fix the coyote tick yet?.
So you're telling me a Ford Performance Badge costs $99??????
Should have got the V6

All the upgrades wasted on an automatic

Raymond Flowers but this mustang doesn’t come with the 10 speed. The 2018 does.
