I've owned my ecoboost premium for over a year. Zero issues other than installing an oil catch can from the excessive idle smoke I was experiencing. I'm the second owner and I got it last winter for less than $20K. You can't beat the kind of value you get for such a beautiful car. I'm planning to drive this one for atleast the next 4-5 years in which I'll probably be buying another one.
When I was in High-school in the late 90's the top of the line Mustang Cobra put out 305 hp. Now you can get just over 300 ponies out of the base mustang. I honestly don't think you need the V8, 300hp is more than enough power, you will get decent mpg if you drive easy and don't spool up the turbo, the car weighs less with just a four banger and your insurance will be cheaper too.
How does an Ecoboost save on insurance? I'm looking at buying this exact model and I've totaled 2 cars in the last 3 years so cheaper insurance would be awesome. Just wanted to know why?

I bought the EcoBoost recently. Great car, but you have to keep in mind what your buying. The 5.0 v8 is 15-20k more expensive where I live than my EcoBoost premium. In my opinion, a mustang doesn’t need to be that loud, it’s not a Lamborghini, or a Ferrari, it looks awful with you see a Mitsubishi from 1995 making sounds like it’s about to break down. So in my own opinion, it’s worth it, you save loads on the car, gas and even insurance vs buying the bigger engine car for the purpose of going a 20% faster and making more noise.
I've got a 2016 ecoboost and all I changed was the intake, exhaust, intercooler and added a Cobb access port. My car has 420hp and my total investment is about 30,000 ($3000 less than a GT) and I smoke them on the street. They pull up to me and place a challenge then get embarrassed at the next light when we stop and review who the winner is hahahahah GT is so mainstream be different and get this car.

Turned one in to enterprise this morning. Convertible, premium package. Had it for a week. Drove from Alabama to Ocala Fl. Drove it for a week in Ocala then drove it back to Alabama. Really didnt want to give it back to Enterprise. It was impressive.

Great car this S550 Mustang, i got to drive the GT and the Ecoboost Performance Pack (310HP, 3.55 diff !) when they launched in my country at the end of 2015. The V8 is what youd expect, except its very quiet compared to other V8s ive driven (not sure if its because these are Euro Spec). The EcoBoost was the one i personally liked more since ive always been a Turbo man but cars like the Mustang SVO and Regal GNX were way before my time. The sound of that Ecoboosts turbo spooling and whooshing then crackling when you let off the gas at high RPM, its something else, its exhaust is even quieter than the V8 but turbo sounds are really cool. Though i really don't like the EcoBoost name, Ford should have just called it a Mustang Turbo or Mustang SVO (who cares that SVO doesnt exist anymore). Great cars, you can't go wrong with either they perform extremely well and are so much more refined than any of the other old school name brand American cars.
Everybody's going to miss that 3.7 I promise you. My good friend has one with a muffler delete and it sound PHENOMENAL, has a great power curve and get over 20mpg highway and we were doing pulls cruising in sport mode the whole time. city mpg sucks though..
i remember when those 3.7's first came out people would tune them and go over the speed limiter and blow their drive shafts. lol I had a 3.7 it sounded great with exhaust, i tuned it as well and got maybe 5hp. I think i got more gains with my exhaust. The ecoboost gives you huge gains. Once tuned you really dont need much more for a daily driver
The EcoBoost generates 77.5 HP per cylinder and the GT produces 57.5 HP per cylinder. 310 HP is a lot considering 20 years ago V8s were making 40 HP less.
Not duel exhaust but duel exhaust tips. It is a 4 cylinder after all. Still a great car and really shines in 2018 with more torque and independent rear suspension now. Great car.
They will deliver mine next week and I can't wait! I know some people might say this isn't the "real deal" because of the engine but I don't care and also couldn't buy the more powerful ones. In my country they won't give you an insurance on such a powerful engine under the age of 25, plus I need it for daily driving to work, in big cities as well which means I don't need a huge engine to race on the streets... this one is a great cheaper, economical and practical alternative for me :-)
I think of Mustang as a sports car not a muscle car. My thoughts looking back were the Mustang was not a big block so they were wimpy stock. In high school in the 70-80's it was big block Chevelle, Mopar, Olds, El Camino, Torino, and anything big block. With the exception of the 302 IROC Z-28(I knew a guy that had 2 of them) big blocks and super built small blocks were it. Blowers and turbos were tricky. It is amazing how far engines and cars have come. It's pretty well proven the Eco-boost will hang with the Coyote in tight twist turns and the v8 runs away in the straights. I bought mine for that reason, and I got 11k in Roush stuff for nothing. 20-30 MPG ain't bad either.

No muscle car should be a i4 turbo you want to get great gas mileage get a Prius or one if those smart cars. A muscle car us for power not gas mileage. was it a premium? did you drive it in track mode? If you dont it will feel sluggish. It needs to be in sport+ or track mode, it makes it a completely different car to drive. I drove it in normal mode and would agree it felt slow. Sport+ or track, car wakens up and pulls hard
Definitely not a luxury car. It is very plasticy inside and it feels quite cheaply made in many areas. It is a cheap horsepower musclecar, but I can see how people can cross-shop an A5 as well. To get similar power you need to spend over 50k to get the S5.
