It’s fun to watch his older ecoboost videos, especially now that he has the Bullitt. Unlike him, I didn’t buy the Mustang for the sound, the luxury, or anything like that. I own a 2018 ecoboost, and have made mods to the car to optimize my enjoyment of this model. Bottom line, the ecoboost is not everyone . However, having grown up in the era of classic muscle cars I appreciate the fact that this 4-cylinder turbo can - and does have as much, if not more HP and torque than those cars. Given you can only drive so fast on the highway (I’m not a street drag/track kind of guy), the ecoboost is more than enough for my needs.
Exactly. All that matters is whether or not YOU love what you drive, not anyone else. I’m almost 30 and over the whole “it’s gotta be a V8” phase. I bought a 2016 V6 two years ago and love it just as much now as the day I bought it. It has been a stellar daily driver. Enjoy your 2018 EcoBoost! 👍
I came from a BMW 135i to a 2018 Ecoboost Mustang and I have to say I am impressed. Always hated domestic cars but have grown to love this car. Fun to drive and I think the main plus is the savings over something like a GT.
I learned a lot listening to your impressions. That EcoBoost engine is great- powerful and economical- and I believe that you are quite correct about the torque coming on early in the revs, which to me is better than waiting until you hit 3 or 4k rpm. I might end up with one. Thanks.
I can get 34 to 36 mpg on the highway with my Ecoboost. I've been using 87 octane gas but I'm going to try 93 octane for the next few fillups to see if I notice a difference in mpg or power.
I just got my 2014 WRX last year after watching a bunch of your BRZ videos, but now you're making me want the new Mustang. It's one of those cars that I've been eyeing since I was a little kid. Maybe in another year or two.
You saw Bullit and desired a Mustang. It’s funny how television and movies inspire people to want specific makes and models of cars. When I was a kid I used to watch Mr. Bean and found it hilarious. I always wanted a Mini Cooper because of that show.
I think this guy just gave the most reasonable explanation for wanting more power that I've ever heard. Its not the best, and certainly not my own, but it is the most reasonable. Bravo, sir.
***** i dont think so. he said he had a legacy gt b spec though, which does have the same engine as the wrx with a little more power of its time (250 vs 227)
I hope to get a 2017 Mustang in about a month or so. I'm 25 and have never owned a new car..always have had to deal with "beaters". I'd be happy with the v6 or the ecoboost. Also I can relate to your situation; no kids, lots of life left to live and a lot of fun to have!!
Me and my wife are going to shop for the v-6 Mustangs this weekend after they told us Ecoboosts can only burn premium gas which offsets the better gas mileage. The 2016 Camaro's are a tight fit and hard to see out of. 4cyl. ones won't be out for awhile but we were told we could burn regular fuel in them.
The one thing keeping me from the 2015 Mustang is the current Ford Sync system. The 2016 model will have the the new Sync 3 system which will allow for Apple Carplay and Android Auto. I bought a Pioneer NEX for my 2005 Mustang so I could use Carplay. Works great and much better than most infotainment systems in cars today.
You really nailed it on the feel of a good turbo motor. I've quite a few cars over the last ~15 years and I've found turbo motors give you an addictive sense of power, even if the car isn't fast. It hit me driving a lowly Passat with the new direct injection 1.8T (TSI). The turbo gave the car a great sense of guts from the strong torque available virtually instantly even from just 2000rpm. I now own a 2005 Volvo V70R with a 2.5 I5 turbo and though it isn't a race car (0-60mph when new was supposedly ~5.8 seconds with the 6-sp manual I have) and the power delivery down low is incredible. It is rated at 300hp and 295 ftlbs, but it simply feels worlds different than our Toyota with a 3.5 V6 (268hp and 246 ft lbs torque). You always hear "there is no replacement for displacement" but I disagree. The power delivery on a turbo motor is simply the best.
Good points on the EcoBoost overall, it definitely is a value. I don't think I would get one because the 4 cyl just bothers me too much, but it's a nice car still.
Give or don't give no one is making you do one or the other. I'm glad that the go fund helped him buy an Ecoboost. His reviews have really helped me. I try to help others when I can and have been blessed by others helping me.
I really like the the new Mustang and am very pleased they are bringing them down under to New Zealand in right hand drive. Will get one in a year or two once the waiting list has gone down. I expect I'll have to get the V8 though as I suspect people just aren't going to get the 4 cylinder model and the resale on them will be poor in a few years.
Viewing this video in retrospective i can say that the better driving you wanted, it's corrected with a good summer season set of tires, pilot sport or pirrellis pzero (which i have on my ecoboost mustang). Day and night diference in handling and cornering.
Great video Matt, I thought this would be a rant but wow. Very well planned out points and interesting way to sum up your car experience of not only your Mustang but your previous cars too. Love your passion for cars, I can always relate to your excitement and it makes watching your channel a blast
Add a borland upgrade. Turbo lopes intercooler go from 284 rearwhp to 387 rwhp and great sound just bolt on set tune the tuner comes with the kit by the way the stock 4 cylinder puts down more hp than the 5.7 hemi per dyno tests the 2018 all have more hp from ford due to the 2nd set of injectors in the intake to clean the intake track and make the engines last longer
***** Thank you & greed rouche, on the v6, sounded ricey in the videos and kind of coarse to me. Im sure its great on GT like anything else. Magnaflows for the eco r surprisingly nice
Would you suggest buying an eco boost mustang for first driver ? If yes then what’s the best year ? Like the the one you were driving but automatic or the new 10 speed automatic
I totally agree with you about the ten things you love about your mustang. I've owned my Ecoboost Mustang premium for four months now and it's just getting better. I average 30+ mpg. With the best overall of 36 mpg. Mostly highway driving it drops to 27 ish around town. I have a Bama performance V2 tune on it now and love that as well. Keep up the good work! Jimmy
+drewgunner14 I have just the tune. No need for a new intercooler unless you plan on running crazy boost. I do plan on one in the future but so much before that. CAI and exhaust is next.
+James Nibert thanks for the response. I guess im getting the cobb tune first then exhaust or cai later on. Another question, why bama tune over cobb or everyone else?
+drewgunner14 I chose Bama trough American muscle because it was cheaper and free tunes for the life of the car as long as you own it. got a SCT X4 and two tunes for $394.00 with the coupon I got in an email.
Great top 10 list...Really only one thing I dislike about my 2015 Mustang GT is the center plastic console wished Ford would have used a soft touch material. Thanks for all the great reviews.
Matt keep an eye out for the new CP-e exhaust, they have said they have a new exotic and different sounding exhaust for our cars. I just swapped the Street series for a Competition catback so I will be uploading a video tomorrow of it.
The answer to this is that it probably would have messed with the warranty but you main complaint about the brz was the power issue which I understand, 200 isn't a lot, so what you love about the ecoboost is the power also now with the tune. The two cars are extremely similar when u consider things. If power was your concern, how come you didn't put a cobb tune or even a small turbo or centrifugal supercharger on the brz? I feel like that would have made that car the entire package because the only thing u didn't like was the power and that fixes that. Would love to hear your thoughts on that. Thanks
I love the mustang, but I prefer sticking with my 2013 nissan gt-r because I have great gas mileage. Also my gt-r has the cobb acessport on it and an armytrix exhuast, which sounds beautiful. I never drove the 2015 mustang, I always want to, but when I saw the gt-r, I fell in love. It has 575hp with the cobb acessport, the reason I bought the cobb acessport, was when matt bought it for his mustang, which helped me alot. I still love the mustang, I'm going to stick with my gt-r, I have owned it for 4 months now and I'm happy
Stanley Perez I love my Viper because it also gets great gas mileage. It's bright red, and makes 1 billion horsepower with bolt-ons and a chip. Also, I like my shift knob. I prefer it to the Chevy Sonic. I also totally own a Viper and am actually old enough to drive.
Ilike your ecoboost and the mpg is great. I average 17.5 in my 15 1LE Camaro and hit the pump a lot. The 3.91 gears and 6.2L V8 don't help but it's worth it.
The sound of the V8 is something really worth it imo, When buying my Camaro, I had the choice between a 2014 Camaro RS V6 and a 2010 Camaro 2SS RS, both were the same price, I took the 2010 just for the V8 Also you should get ULH made custom for the mustang to get some kind of subby burble and give it a muscle feel.
Thx for the vid. I have a black 2015 GT premium and my girlfriend has a black ecoboost premium. And to be honest the ecoboost feels just as quick and noticeably lighter. But like you said - the sound of the GT is so is nice. But not until you replace the stock mufflers. Ford did a bad job on the stock mufflers but a great job on the engine.
Great comments on your Mustang! I had an '89 Mustang GT and really miss that V8 sound. I'm hoping to get another one in the future, but right now I'm waiting for my 2016 Subaru WRX to arrive. One more month to go....hopefully.
All he did was set a goal for $6500 and people decided wether they wanted to donate. He didn't make people donate. The viewers still only paid for 1 fifth of the car
I really enjoy your videos, especially the ones about mustangs. I was also wondering about the video setup you use when you film yourself driving. Is that a GoPro Camera? What kind of mic do you use? Thank you!
Is get over 27 with mine in mixed driving. I am gentle with it though. I didn’t like the way the camaro sat inside. I was cloister phobic. Visibility was terrible, I checked out one of those when they came out,
I don't think I'll ever understand why you had trouble merging on the highway with your BRZ. My car only had 140hp when new 13 years ago and to this day I've never had trouble merging onto the highway.
TheCobruhAlienat0r I've seen a lot of auto journalists complain about merging with this car. I've got less hp than a brz in a car that weighs more, and I've never had a problem merging either. I think they're just spoiled driving faster cars that they don't know how to handle semi-normal ones.
Really glad to see you're still loving your new Mustang. Part of me still wishes you had your loud and obnoxious BRZ tho haha. The 2015 Mustangs do look sweet, from the outside all the way to the interior. I agree with you on owning coupes until you really need a sedan in your lifestyle, coupes just look so much more stylish and exciting. I'm doing the same thing. Plan on owning coupes for at least my next 3 cars. Nice detailed review, the only gripe about that car you named would also be the same for me. I'd really want the V8 if I got a 2015 Mustang just for the lovely sound of Muscle.
What's the best 0-60 mph dash time that's saved on your ecoboost and could you post a pic on your social media? P.s. how much did the Cobb tune improve your 0-60 and your 100 if you have thay data
Great review Matt, I'm thinking about upgrading to one of these in the fall of this year (few months from now) should I lease a new one or buy and own a 2015 or 2016 model that's a bit older maybe used but well taken care of.
The way I look at it, if you want to play you have to pay, kinda like going to Disney land...have to pay the ticket price to ride the cool rides. I own a supercrew 5.0 F150, 04 Cobra and an 07 GT500. I don't complain about the gas prices because it's a choice. I'm just a middle class guy that enjoys my drivin' cars.
Guys I am looking to buy a muscle car and I am severely confused between the mustang ecoboost and camaro. Which one is recommended in terms of quality, reliability ? Thanks
thinking bout getting a 2019 ecoboost is it really worth spending the extra 5-6k or whatever it is to get the premium ? ofc i want it but is it really worth the extra 75-100$ probaly gonna add on the monthly payment ? btw more then likely gonna finance not lease
It’s fun to watch his older ecoboost videos, especially now that he has the Bullitt. Unlike him, I didn’t buy the Mustang for the sound, the luxury, or anything like that. I just took delivery of my '19 Premium EcoBoost Pony and I LOVE it!
How much does insurance costs for you?
Surprisingly powerful yet gets good gas mileage. And, with the new rear end, it's a pleasure to drive.
This Mustang Ecoboost has a lot more potential than you think...
Just look at the dyno on the new Turbo kit from MAP performance!
Can't wait to see more vlogs when you return! Hope you're having an awesome time bro!
Street Speed 717 damn came a long way
pro trick : watch series on flixzone. I've been using it for watching loads of movies lately.
@Cade Moses definitely, have been watching on flixzone for months myself :D
Just bought a Ecoboost Mustang Premium with PP after watching your videos for 1 month. :) Really loving the drive.

Very cool car
That option to change the color gauges is fucking awesome saves you the trouble of wanting to change them later. Love the vids btw :}
Will you be driving this mustang in the winter? Or have you driven it in snow? I'm curious to know how it does in that type of weather

How has/did your mustang hold up since you purchased it?

good vid, liked hearing extra details about the car.
Got a 2014 GT 19mpg average and in the highway I get 26mpg (3.31) gears
SuperMonster62 2014 GT is ugly compared to an ecoboost
You did say that on a frosty day that a mustang emblem will pop up under the hood?
New ways to have muscle well said my man 👍
The one problem I have with getting a 2 door is that insurance cranks up the rates. So I still want to go for the WRX.
Great video, you have some really well thought-out points. I like how you compared the Stang to your previous cars.

Do you just have tune installed? Im wondering if i should install say a cobb tuner, do i need to put a new intercooler?

+James Nibert ok. Does tuning or adding cai and exhaust voids warranty? You probably have seen people ask this question over and over or yourself.
Great top 10 list...Really only one thing I dislike about my 2015 Mustang GT is the center plastic console wished Ford would have used a soft touch material. Thanks for all the great reviews.
Thanks for keeping us fed while on your holiday Matt, fun video
Matt keep an eye out for the new CP-e exhaust, they have said they have a new exotic and different sounding exhaust for our cars. I just swapped the Street series for a Competition catback so I will be uploading a video tomorrow of it.
Do u use premium gas in this car

+Mxgt ecoboost stang has double the torque stock without the tune
You do it better than Saabkyle. Great movies. Fun to watch and enjoy cars i would never be able to buy! Keep it up dude!

Well nobody really choses between the Mustang and GT-R. they're in a completley different price class :p
Yeah it's 4x the price of the mustang lmao...hmmm brz or f-type...hmmm tough one lol
Reptilian Overlord I'm yet to own an American car

Congratulations on getting married Matt! Enjoy every minute of your marriage and your honeymoon. Take a break from TH-cam, you deserve it!
thanks for sharing your opinion on your ecoboost mustang.
I have been extremely impressed by the gas milage on my 15 GT. I can get 20 average pretty easily if I am conservative.
You should do a video regarding the car salesman work you do. Like advice on how to be a good one and what not.
I quoted a standard version of the mustang ecoboost should I upgrade to the premium?
Osvaldo Lopez hell yeah
Ilike your ecoboost and the mpg is great. I average 17.5 in my 15 1LE Camaro and hit the pump a lot. The 3.91 gears and 6.2L V8 don't help but it's worth it.

Katie Newmeyer Holy shit get over it already
Katie Newmeyer Why are you here?
Never knew a Mustang EcoBoost was that cheap...
Good job on the 10 reasons, I'm expecting a top 10 negatives.
What's your take on the Ecoboost Performance Package? I am also considering adding Ford's Power pack which includes a CAI and a tune.
Hey man nice video! Im debating which car i should get. The ecoboost or the WRX premium? and what made you get the ecoboost instead of the WRX?
Jeffrey Igaña I'm getting my mustang ecoboost 2016 tmrw singing off on it but I had the money I'd get the wrx
The Bullitt chase scene is historic. If anyone here hasn't seen it, go out of your way to track it down. It's awesome.
I really enjoy your videos, especially the ones about mustangs.
I was also wondering about the video setup you use when you film yourself driving. Is that a GoPro Camera? What kind of mic do you use?
Thank you!
Owned my 2015 v6 love it.
What mods have you done and what kind of time Matt. ? I’ve watched countless videos your a living legend 👍🏻💯
"i love retro things, im a very vintage inspired person" awesome quoteeeeeee
What about its drivability, specifically its ability to be a daily driver?
Do you know if the pony package comes with embroidered seats? Dealer could not tell me.
This video made me want to go and drive mine. I'm personally a huge fan of older cars, but Ford hit this car out of the park.
Great video like always Matt! Also congratulations on your marriage!

There is no other car in a coupe with a 2.3lt turbo putting out 233kw & fuel economy in that price range that I can find - good buy!
Great video, would love to see if you can in the future have an ecoboost comparison to the new 4cylinder turbo camero
What's the best 0-60 mph dash time that's saved on your ecoboost and could you post a pic on your social media?
P.s. how much did the Cobb tune improve your 0-60 and your 100 if you have thay data
Is size of the wheels matter? because I am getting 23 mpg combined, and i have 20 inch wheels.
based on yr review i really feel like buying a mustang
Great review Matt, I'm thinking about upgrading to one of these in the fall of this year (few months from now) should I lease a new one or buy and own a 2015 or 2016 model that's a bit older maybe used but well taken care of.
Hey wrxfan, will you be checking out the new Elio car? Kyle has a great video on it that I think you should check out!!!
does the hud system of the mustang display speed?? Or does the small display in the middle of the gauges have a speed setting?
For overtaking with less power just plan ahead. Take a bit more time. Not that difficult.
6:57 Should be an outtake
Matt how is the cobb stage 1 tune? Is it worth the $500 price of admission? I just bought a 2017 mustang premium and considering getting one
will you ever take it to the track? and see how fast it is in the 1/4 mile
You're reviews are awesome man. how much did you spend out the door for the mustang?
subaruwrxfan Let us know if you want to make it REALLY go!
We can help you out.
Guys I am looking to buy a muscle car and I am severely confused between the mustang ecoboost and camaro. Which one is recommended in terms of quality, reliability ? Thanks
Should have held out for the 2016 Camaro if you wanted more of a drivers car like the BRZ.
Driving in Kennedy Township eh? I saw you pass Fairhaven Park.
thinking bout getting a 2019 ecoboost is it really worth spending the extra 5-6k or whatever it is to get the premium ? ofc i want it but is it really worth the extra 75-100$ probaly gonna add on the monthly payment ? btw more then likely gonna finance not lease
Love your passion. Thanks for the video subaruwrxfan
How is the transmission holding up?
In your opinion should I buy a brand new car or used?🤔
