This is nice. It’s a library hutch. The two end cabinets are perfect for books with pretty things placed behind the glass doors. I don’t think adding an apron around the bottom of the cabinet adds anything at all. I think the legs work well with this piece. Maybe add some puck lights to the area behind the glass. I bought some on Amazon and it really elevated the look of the cabinet. Mine are battery-operated with a little remote. Dean at Busted to Buffed has tutorials if you want to add “real” lights. I’m sorry you had a few little mishaps while working on this piece, so maybe you want to send it on its way and try lights another time. I really like this cabinet. It’s sophisticated and you did a lovely job.🌸
Sarah this is beautiful! I love that you only put the glass back in the middle sections, and glad you didn't get hurt! This color is gorgeous! I also vote no on the sash but I'd maybe add legs to the front and back in the middle to distribute the weight of the piece.
That’s a really nice color! I would add a sash, or apron, across the bottom to kind of coordinate with the trim across the top. Nothing elaborate, just something to tie them together.
I love the color! The piece looks like it belongs in a manor house in the British countryside. I think adding a sash would add to the soundness of it since the legs are taller and slimmer. It would give it a more solid look. But it's gorgeous as it is!
I love this color, but did I miss the color mixture picture? A picture of the lid with the colors? No rail, but I do agree with the comment about moving the legs over a tad bit.
I'm getting ready to also repurpose a top portion of a china cabinet/ hutch. It's VERY heavy solid wood and thick glass doors. What type of legs do you recommend?
I listed it as it was to see what the market thought about it and sold it within a few days so it stayed the way it was. If it had not gotten any interest in the first week I would might have made plans to change it up a little. ♥️♥️
This is a really nice green and looks especially nice with the brass metal as accents. I wouldn't put a base around the bottom unless you moved the legs so the square part was completely under the hutch. Then put a base on to cover that square potion... but that seems like a lot of work. An alternative would be to use material that goes from square edge of one leg to square edge of another leg but I think it would look right. So I would leave as is, I think it looks great! 😉👍💕
Hi ! Beautiful piece! I wish you would of shown how the legs were installed. That’s the problems I have . And what kind of wax do you use ? Thank you 😊 Happy New year !!!
Turned out really nice! I think only having the glass in the middle 2 doors looks better! The color is lovely but I don't think it's a bit top heavy and an apron might tie the hutch with the legs a little bit more. Now it looks a bit unfinished, but still totally ok.
I can't give away my mom's buffet hutch... But now I know what I can do with them! I need another curio cabinet and the bottom does separate into a stand alone buffet! So I can keep them for awhile!
Have seen these hutch tops repurposed many times. I guess if you can sell them, why not? Personally, not my cup of tea, they just look awkward to my eye. The repaint is lovely and well done, and it’s a good thing to keep this kind of stuff out of the landfill, so to that end, bravo!
It's called "Unplugged" so you could search that with Behr or there is a photo of the top of the can in my Community tab on my channel page- BUT you'll have to scroll down about 7 months (but I don't post that often so it's actually not too far!)
I’ve seen a few upcycles of furniture with doors and the doors have been removed, sanded, painted etc separately, and rehung after the hinges have been cleaned. Why didn’t you do that?
Personally I would add the rail just for durability’s sake. There’s gonna be that person who will try to drag it around. I would also add anti tip furniture straps as risk management.
I’m sorry! My husband did it while I was gone without telling me so I didn’t get it filmed 😞 🤦🏼♀️ We used brackets on two sides of each leg to screw it into the bottom of the hutch
The title actually doesn’t say “how to” because I realized I didn’t get that part actually filmed. Very Sorry that you felt misled though- I’m still learning the whole filming thing.
@@OurFurnitureFlippingAdventure Oops says Adding Legs...have you done a how to for adding legs? I have 3 hutch tops taking up space that I need to move, and not very handy with actual construction. Sorry if my original reply sounded bitchy...didn't mean to come across that way 💜!!
@@doreent298 honestly the reason I didn’t film it is because my husband did it (without warning me) because I have him handle the construction stuff!! We usually talk through and brainstorm how to fix things- then he does it because he likes power tools more than I do lol! In the case of a hutch top it will depend on what the construction is. Bun feet are a good easy option (although not very dramatic). With this project we used metal “L” shaped brackets to attach the legs to the boards that were already around the base.
That turned out really cool.
Thank you so much!
This is gorgeous!!
Thank you Angie!

Lights are a fantastic idea 💡
Absolutely beautiful. Nothing need to be added. Amazing job.
Thank you Gwen ♥️

Hmmm…interesting thought only that coffee table only had 4 legs so it’d be hard to find a match!
I LOVE that paint color!
Me too 🟢💚
What a gorgeous color! It looks so luxe with brass hardware. Good call on moving the glass to the middle doors.
I had planned to redo the hardware but the old stuff just ended up looking perfect with it!
I think it’s beautiful just the way it is. Great job
Thank you Annetta (I love your name!)
That’s beautiful. I figured I should be able to repurpose a top but had no idea where to start.
Thank you for the inspiration!
Another great piece by Sarah! That is an awesome color and the legs go great with the piece. We would leave it the way it is!💗
Thank you Jim and Cindy 💚 I was hoping enough people would tell me to leave it because I’m feeling lazy about it 😂
A lovely makeover, I really like the colour you've used.
Thank you Dawn!
Love all your projects…..such a beautiful piece it turned out to be. Do you have a video of the bottom?
Yup!

Love how this hutch top came out ...It looks amazing Just Like it is honey I wouldn't add a sash or anything. ..it's absolutely gorgeous now🥰❣️
Thank you Debra!
Looks great! I love that color too.
Thank you Rosalie ♥️
OMG what an awesome transformation😊
Nice job!
Thank you Janet💚
The piece is perfect the way it is
Thank you 🙏 💚
Gorgeous!
Thank you 😊

❤ gorgeous job! You inspire me!!!
The piece turned out great. I would add a base I think it needs it.
Thank you Gina ♥️
Beautiful outcome
Love that color ,,can be used in a lot of styles
Thank you I love it too!
Nice job. Love it.
Thank you Connie!
Yes, add the sash! Great idea!
It came out great
Thank you so much 😊
Beautiful color. I think the sash would look nice but also a piece to go across the top.
Interesting thought- thank you!
You could have painted the backing white I did something and olive green color it looked beautiful 10:08
Love it!!
Thank you ♥️

Nope! I forgot to post it 😂 I’ll go do that right now!! Thank you!

I know it has been a bit since you put this video out, but, have you thought about taking that top molding off?
I listed it as it was to see what the market thought about it and sold it within a few days so it stayed the way it was. If it had not gotten any interest in the first week I would might have made plans to change it up a little. ♥️♥️
It looks ok like it is, is the sash needed structurally?
I don’t believe so- it seems very sturdy
So pretty. Btw what is the size of the legs

I made my husband do it 😂 but he used a 3 or 4 screw bracket screwed into the leg and bottom of hutch on two sides of each leg.
What a great job.

I would leave it . It's lovely as it is
Thank you Annemarie!
Lovely
Thank you ❤️

I'm going to use a similar color on my steamer trunk and paint the hardware on it copper gilding wax.
Sounds lovely!! I haven’t used copper wax yet but I was just given some this week and am excited to try it!
How tall are the legs

Hopefully I’ll be able to find someone who will love it so I don’t have to keep it 😉
Thanks for the comment!
Where can I find the code of the paint? That’s the green I need for my kitchen cabinets.
I do it both ways- just depends on what mood I’m in 😁
Yeah I think the bottom could have used something else but still great
Personally I would add the rail just for durability’s sake. There’s gonna be that person who will try to drag it around. I would also add anti tip furniture straps as risk management.
Having small kids I have anti tip straps all over the place as they’re always trying to climb up something 🤦🏼♀️
Add the bottom border/skirt.
👍🏼 thank you
I watched to see how you added legs and you skipped that part
I’m sorry! My husband did it while I was gone without telling me so I didn’t get it filmed 😞 🤦🏼♀️
We used brackets on two sides of each leg to screw it into the bottom of the hutch
Very well done. I don't think that adding anything to the bottom will make it better.
Thank you Linda
I was hoping to see HOW you attached the legs…..
Paint the hinges
I personally think you should have left the mesh glass coverings off. Other than that I think it’s gorgeous.
Well, they come out easy enough so if whoever buys it decides to take them out they can!
Thanks for watching!
Title of video is how to add legs to hutch, but video doesn't show how to do that 🤷♀️
The title actually doesn’t say “how to” because I realized I didn’t get that part actually filmed. Very Sorry that you felt misled though- I’m still learning the whole filming thing.

I don't think it needs a thing
Thank you Bonny 💚
Shelves need lighter color...it's making the glass look yellow
Didn’t seem so in person 🤔
