It turned out great Samuel, the vinyl on the back and hexagonal mesh in the doors were great additions to the black and gold colour scheme and made it look very elegant.
Looks great! Keeping the gold minimal was definitely the right call. And putting legs on. Very classy. You did alot of thinking outside of the box, and it paid off. Congratulations!
Samuel: don’t forget the industry has stick on wall covering now and there are a lot of designs to select from. It’s an easy product to work with. The cabinet is certainly a conversation piece. In the right room it would be stunning. A real eye catcher. Great job! Carol from California
Great video! thank you for showing the whole process, mistakes and all. the piece looked great when you'd finished, i love the black against the wood. you are amazing!! ❤️
I really like the way this piece turned out. Feels very Anthopologie to me, but this is One of a kind". I think it looks wonderful! Good job. Congratulations. I've done a few projects myself and I agree with you that the hardest part is to push through when problems start to happen, which is almost always. Thank you for being totally honest and sharing your mishaps as well, we learn a lot from those.
I love it !!! So glad the peel and stick didn't work. I agree that paint was the better option for long lasting durability. If I lived close to you, that'd be in my house. Stunning 🇨🇦
Wow. It turned out awesome. I love the black and gold with kind of the mid century design. I felt your frustration right along with you with the over spray, and then taking off the paper you applied. But what a transformation!! Inspiring !!
It turned out amazing for sure. I buy and sell these 2 piece hutches constantly. Splitting them up is the way to go. I’m definitely taking inspiration from you on the honeycomb panels. They made that piece go from really good to absolutely phenomenal. Another excellent job Samuel
It looks fabulous Samuel. Black and gold is such a classic. It really did give you headaches. Well done for sticking it out and the results are certainly worth it. Great job.
Try wrapping a 2x4x2' piece of wood with a towel and use it to smooth out the contact paper as you pull the backing away. REALLY helps when you only got your own two hands. LOL Nice project and it looks great!
It definitely makes a better display cabinet than an upper shelf unit on a hutch. I like the plastic "chicken wire" effect, and, the contact paper design. All in all it was a good save/improv by necessity effort on your part.
Samuel, wow! This piece came out absolutely beautiful! This cabinet will definitely be the focal point in any room. Good job!👍 You have a lot of patience’s.
This almost every project for me haha! What I think is going to happen, morphs into something else, but I’m always much happier with it in the end . I think this might be my favorite piece to date!❤ I’ve never seen that back panel contact paper before…I love that pattern! Cheers :-)
Samuel, amazing piece! Love how it came out. Only thing I will say is a top put on would have been a nice thing. I know many folks keep scrap pieces from other projects. It’s honestly amazing. Love that black honeycomb and the warmth of the interior wood! Sweet piece anyone would be glad to own Thanks for sharing the whole journey
A heat gun on contact paper will really adhere the paper and you can squeegee out the air bubbles or use an exacto knife to pop the air bubbles and then heat it and work the air out of the tiny knife hole.
OMG!! 13:25 mark tell me you don't see the stone face top left corner winking at us?!?!?! And... you put the wallpaper on upside down dummy 😂😂🤦🏻♂️!!! The stuff you guys come up wit is insane. Hope you get TOP dollar Sam!! Hoping all is well Bud,Dirty Jersey out!!! P.S. It's 4th. of July, we just had insane rain storms, & power is out!! 'Merica!!!
They are on Amazon. I’m worming on putting together my Amazon store but if you search up black and hold mid century legs, you should find them. 8 inch length I believe
@@CedarPineDesigns Ya girl is over 60 and stopped with Twitter (very inactive) as far a social media goes. I need to find it on Facebook or TH-cam but bless you for reaching the masses. 😆😆
Hey. Just out of curiosity - isn't your paint water based? I had a similar problem but was able to remove the paint with just water (and a lot of patience 😅). So I was wondering if you're using a different type of paint 🤔
I wonder how much the honeycomb inserts will interfere with viewing the contents. They look cool by themselves, but they feel a little counterproductive for the purpose of a display cabinet.
Quick questions, did you replace the light or fill the hole on top and also was the honeycomb installed inside the cabinet or on the front outside the glass? It's really a sharp looking piece!!
Great questions. The honeycomb mesh is on the outside and the glass is on the inside, and the hole is still there and I did not replace the light. I left the hole just in case they new owner wants to add another light.
its nice but I would have preferred clear glass in the doors. After all it is a display cabinet for things to be displayed and you would'nt be able to see anythings with the chicken wire.
Despite the challenges my friend it came out Stunning...where did you find that plastic chicken wire thing...super cool 💯🥰 happy 4th to you and your Family ❣️
the only problem I see is in the future because the mesh is in front of the glass it will be hard to clean. but even so it looks really beautiful....I'm glad you didn't paint the inserts gold.

I see hutches everywhere, in thrift stores, etc., for almost free. This is a good way to repurpose them. You did an outstanding job!
Absolutely. China hutches are out of style and this is a good option. Thank you
