I have the bottom of an old hutch and a nightstand which are not a set but both are off-white with metal accents and have white plastic laminate tops. When I finish some other projects I'm going to redo them in blue with gold metal accents and make the white hardtops a feature. I think they could work as living room pieces.
I have book shelves that are too short, but can’t be stacked because of how the bottom is made,? And that doesn’t seem safe. Also a lovely armoire, but it’s an actual antique so I don’t want to hack up the inside, I just don’t need an extra closet…plus uts part of the bedroom set, so….
Wait, turning the glass doors into dry erase boards is genius! It's touching to see how helpful your husband is. Actions speak louder than words and his say he clearly loves you tons.
Me too, I have lots of old furniture and have repainted some pieces. I like the paint to look nice not chipped. I'm currently decopodging some papers from Zazzle in some painted furniture.
I'm a new subscriber - the foster care donations sold me because that's where my heart is, using my talents to help others, but I adore that you pack so many projects into a single video. Your prolific amount of projects are so gratifying and I enjoy seeing an ensemble unified for a purpose along with the stand-alone pieces.
Years ago, there was a sunflower farm between where I lived and where I worked. It tickled me to no end to see their heads follow the sun. In the morning, they were leaning east and in the late afternoon, they leaned west. Love your ‘projects’! They should be quite handy, what with a growing family.
Loved how everything turned out! Especially liked your hallway organizer…what a great idea! Cory you have a pretty great husband! Well he has a pretty great wife too! Glad your feeling better!
I haven’t been on much anymore but saw this video. I absolutely love what you’ve done to the pieces especially the glass doors. I despise anything going to waste and have some of my own unfinished projects I need to get done. Thanks for the inspiration!
I agree, it really depends on the piece when it comes to distressing. Some piece once painted look flat and you can lose all the lovely details. If appropriately distressing then those details will pop. I find the main problem is that many don’t distress the pieces they do in a natural looking way. You are one of the few who do it really well. Love how all your pieces turned out.
That hall tree turned out so good! I was having a stressful day until your little "project manager" walked into the frame, giving two very authoritative taps with his hammer! That made me smile! Loved the dry erase boards, too!
Looks lovely and such a great idea. As for distressing, I hate it. I just can’t understand why anyone would get a piece, put all the work into a good paint job, then decide they want it to sort of look like they couldn’t be bothered making it look perfect. Just my opinion 😊
I love that you're wearing fuzzy pink slippers! My kind of furniture refinishing footwear for sure! My husband just rolls his eyes now when I head out to the garage. LOL! Love this video! Beautiful make overs!
Great teamwork on flipping the pieces! Your husband did excellent at deconstructing and reconstructing the hutch! Creative and great learning video. I always enjoy your videos and I love sunflowers too!
I’m in between when it comes to distressing. The hall tree turned out really nice! The dry erase boards were a great idea! Love the transfers! Once again fabulous job! You two are so lucky to have a common interest that you can do together! You look great! Hope the morning sickness is gone soon! Take care and stay safe!
Oh I'm so glad you finished this off. What a beautiful transformation. You two worked so well together to complete the entry cabinet. And seriously love the dry erase boards, clever!
I appreciate the little teaching on the sprayer- made perfect sense to me regarding something I didn’t quite understand 😘. Tell your husband all of the regular viewers send him kudos for standing in the gap. Elizabeth
I just love that hair style on you. You look so pretty!!! I also love this project, the repurpose of the hutch turned out amazing 👏 The dry erase boards is such a cool idea, I will be using that idea for sure!! Love it!! You have a wonderful husband, he sure is a great help to you. Stay safe and healthy 🙂💝
I loved the doors ery erase upcycle. Little light bulbs are going off in my head. All the pieces in the last two videos were great and how nice to see a husband getting involved.
I think it's wonderful that your husband has joined you in your diy journey....to create together as a couple will bring you even closer together...it looks like he got "bit" by the diy bug....looking forward to seeing him help you more. and of course the diys are wonderful, but really that's no surprise, you make everything look good....
Love you creations! All are so useful and I think I'll order some decals, those are fabulous! I think you'll dye the chairs and paint the legs, they're quite a lovely design to work with.
I loved this video so much! The organizer cabinet turned out lovely and the dry erase boards are so fun and beautiful! I love how you husband dove in and couldn’t wait while you cut the sunflower transfer to fit. 😂. Sunflowers are my favorite flower too! Thanks for the great ideas!
Paint the fabric on the chairs! I use Rethunk Junk to do it but would love to see what you use! I love your channel! You are so down to earth and I love that your family always helps out. I work on my own or sometimes with my grandbabies.
So cute that he joined in to help you. It would be hard to watch someone do something fun like the transfers and not step in to help. He is a great burnisher! They look really cute and the entry way piece is very nice.
You've been a huge inspiration from the moment I watched. I'm attempting to convert a pine 3 piece entertainment center into a changing station with storage for a granddaughter we're expecting during the holiday season. Hopefully, it will be Cory approved. (Lol... that's my son-in-law's name. 😉)
I especially love the green/magnolia dry erase board, that is just a brilliant idea to repurpose a small door like that. The bard red sunflower 🌻 is good too!
I like the glass doors a lot! Also your organizer hutch was pretty and both were a great idea. I have a cedar chest that. Friend is going to make over.
I love your channel it’s so inspirational. I LOVE distressing although I’m always tentative before I do it, but I always love the result. I’m kinda good at it! The pieces you did turned out so great. I can’t pick a favorite!
I loved your idea of the window conversion to dry eraser boards. That red went so well with the black. I had just found you today, so I will be checking in on you again. I almost forgot, im not into disstressing!
Love this video! Great tips on the sprayer, thanks! While I can appreciate some of the distressed pieces, it doesn't fit my personal style...yet! I really love the Magnolia Garden transfer and use them all the time, but didn't think about glass. I'm currently painting an upholstered love seat, so that chair at the end would be a great piece to paint the fabric!
As always you, your make overs and videos never disappoint. Love the idea of using the glass doors as a dry erase board, didn't know you could do that. How about painting those chairs with fabric paint? Can't wait to see the finished product!
For the chair, I would paint the fabric a black or very dark grey color and paint the wood on the chair a silver. I saw an old style living room set done like that and it was absolutely gorgeous. You could always paint it in the colors to your liking though.
Years ago I made a chalk board from a Goodwill Picture frame. I have never been happy with its quality . Thank you for inspiring me to make it into a dry erase board instead.
Hi Cory I love what you did with the cabinet doors, fantastic idea. The cabinet made a lovely cupboard. Thanks for sharing. Koodos to your husband. Leta
I have an old gun cabinet that my husband had made for his dad years ago. As the one you repurposed in your video, this cabinet has glass doors, but no lock. ( In this era it no longer acceptable as a gun cabinet, of course, but it is too well made to discard.) The wood is beautiful, the lower cabinets and drawers are sturdy and functional so I could picture putting shelving in it and perhaps using it in the small entry way for shoes. Your video was perfect for showing me that my idea is possible! Thank you!
@@DesertDIY not being disrespectful calling the Baby “bump”- I may have missed a reveal or mention of Baby, so, I was being generic,🤓, but: Baby is generic, too, so, “Baby” from now on.
New Subscriber here....a very impressive upcycle of that gun cabinet. Having a helpful, knowledgeable hubby is definitely fantastic! 😎😎 Blessings from Texas! 🤠🤠
I’d love to see what you do with the gold upholstered dining chairs since I have those exact chairs in my dining room. They are very comfy but I’m curious as to how they turn out.
We need to purchase a sprayer for the kitchen cabinets my husband will be making for our kitchen. Being a carpenter he already has a couple air compressors so your little paint sprayer looks perfect for our needs and I appreciate you sharing the cost and the size compressor you need to use it. Also, your husbands a treasure.
Loved everything you did. I would have never thought to use the doors as dry erase boards. And I loved the video shot of you and your husband's hands working together on the daisy transfers. As for the chairs--paint them. There are several good tutorials on how to do that. However, if you are really ambitious checkout DIY Danie's channel on how she put appliques on a chair--very time consuming but awesome in the end.
All the pieces you showed turned out great 👍🏼 I especially love the hall tree. I’m so glad you saved those two chairs, I have a thing for old chairs 😉 they look like they’re in really good shape. why would anyone toss them 🤷🏻♀️ I cant wait to see what you do with them.
I have distressed a couple of mirrors I painted white over gold then rubbed back a bit to see the gold come through. I also used a gold pen to draw freehand designs on the mirror and they look fabulous. Another project I just finished was two bedside cabinet that I painted the drawers a lighter colour. The drawers had a raised edge so I distressed that part and they look great too.
Entryway cabinet came out beautiful .I liked the light colored door but the red one should have used old add for eggs or dairy farm .and detressed ..you have alot of talent
What pieces of furniture do you have laying around waiting for a new purpose?
I have the bottom of an old hutch and a nightstand which are not a set but both are off-white with metal accents and have white plastic laminate tops. When I finish some other projects I'm going to redo them in blue with gold metal accents and make the white hardtops a feature. I think they could work as living room pieces.
I have a couple of 2000s tv units that I plan to turn into side tables. I'll take the doors off and put on legs. I hope this will work.
Too many to list 😏. I'm with you on distressing. It definitely depends on the piece.
I have a shelve unit I have my plants on. It's blk and top is sagging. Needs to be brown and no more water spots
Wait, turning the glass doors into dry erase boards is genius! It's touching to see how helpful your husband is. Actions speak louder than words and his say he clearly loves you tons.
I detest distressing. Your husband's enthusiasm for transfers made me laugh! Glad you're feeling better.
It's fun to feel like a kid again! Thank you Gail
Me too! 😂
Me too, I have lots of old furniture and have repainted some pieces. I like the paint to look nice not chipped. I'm currently decopodging some papers from Zazzle in some painted furniture.
Distressing and/or gray paint on anything: no, no, no for sure!
I detest decoupage.

Those chairs are gorgeous!!! And the hutch turned out great! And the idea for the dry erase was awesome!
Bless your husband for helping! Awesome upcycle!
Thank you Julie
Love how you and your husband work together on projects. Enjoy your channel.
The red & black window piece would also be great for holiday decorating -- Christmas, Valentines Day, and maybe some others.

Wow I bet that made being at work so much easier with a view like that

Thank you so much Kim
You have blown me away! I love all of these pieces but my favorite is the magnolia dry erase.♥ And I loved seeing your husband enjoying helping!

I'm surprised distressing is still in style , I don't like it either

Cory, awesome job! I have 20 old doors and window panes, and wanted to put transfers on or paint them, thanks for showing me the way on this project!
Thank you! I bet you are going to make some AWESOME stuff with all those windows and doors

I think you'll dye the chairs and paint the legs, they're quite a lovely design to work with.
Dye sounds interesting! Thank you!
Some super cute pieces. I love the use of the window doors used as wipe off board! I love the sunflowers too! 🌻♥️
You look so cute with bangs! Not everyone can pull it off. You definitely can! Enjoyed the show. 👍🏼
Thank you for saying that! I have been self conscious about the bangs since I haven't had them since I was a little girl.
I love how your husband was enjoying the transfers👍🙂
Repurposing the China hutch into a mud room storage is genius. Very creative
I appreciate you working through your morning sickness! I think I am over distressed items....keep up the good work...
Thank you! I guess I finally found something that inspired him!

That sounds very dramatic and classy!
I wonder how painted fabric feels…is it crackley?
Years ago I made a chalk board from a Goodwill Picture frame. I have never been happy with its quality . Thank you for inspiring me to make it into a dry erase board instead.
Love both your enthusiasm.. Love your eraser boards.. So creative... and well done..
Crafting with your slippers on! You are my girl!

Hi. Love your cabinet ideas. As for the two chairs paint them. They come out great. They have how to video s. Thank for sharing.

Great repurposing ideas. Another win for you.
I agree about distressing. I used to overdo it and had to do pieces over again. In general I like it for a few pieces.
Dry erase board was genius. What a great idea for reusing those!
So creative and beautiful and functional.

Those chairs would look fabulous in leather... great shapes are timeless and leather is durable and very nice.
Love the projects. For those chairs, I would clean them first to really see what you have - they look neutral and maybe that’s all they wud need
