- Installing an aftermarket back-up camera on an Ali Express Android radio into a 2013 Lexus IS250. Upgraded a factory non-nav (no screen), non-Mark Levinson system to an Android unit with a screen.
IMPORTANT: After installing the back-up camera, the screen was gray and contained multiple images (it looked broken). This was because the camera video output in the radio settings was incorrectly set at my radio's default of PAL. The correct setting should be NTSC.
QUICK SUMMARY:
(At the back) - the blue wire on the back-up camera connects to the [blue w/silver accent] wire from the reverse light.
(At the radio) - The blue & red wire on the back-up camera connects to the [brown signal wire] on the radio's black plug (hint: the 3rd wire on the top row of the black plug); connect the camera's black wire to the [radio bracket] for ground; connect the camera's yellow male video jack to the radio's [yellow female lead].
I initially thought the camera was broken (or worse, the radio) and searched all over YT for anyone with a similar problem but found nothing. After delving into the radio's settings, by chance I changed the video output from PAL to NTSC and it fixed the strange image on the screen. Back-up camera works perfectly and has since Dec. 2022.
The camera I purchased is no longer for sale on Amazon, but it is a 270-degree camera with night vision. The wide, fish-eye view enables me to see cross traffic when backing up.

Just the video i was looking for before i install my backup camera! 👍🏻
If you have any issue with the connection up by the radio or with the software settings, there's another video on my channel that may help.
Hey thank you so much for the video how do you select ntsc instead of PAL?
Hey brother, that's in my software video at about the 31:50 timestamp. th-cam.com/video/bJKTv2tyNGI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=ZR-yHenfxAV6SYXi
how did you secure the camera to the trunk door with that interior wall in the way? i don’t see how you would be able to slip on the nut onto the camera thread
Good question. I made sure the hole I drilled was just large enough for the threads on the camera to grab. I then "screwed" in the camera and applied a bead of sealant where the camera butted against the trunk.
If you happen to drill the hole too large, the camera has a double sided tape seal. Use that and you would just press it into place.
What wire did you connect it to when you got it to the front? And how
That's touched on in my other video - "wiring, closer look" at timestamp 21:34

is there no way for the stock camera to be used?
My vehicle didn't come with a factory back-up camera. However, I have read in the comments of other videos that the factory back up camera can be used with this radio. Unfortunately, I do not know what that entails. Sorry.
Where are you based at? Could you just help me do this? I can pay you dawg🤧
I'm in Alaska, but I apologize that I only work on family vehicles. You can do it though man, just visualize and have faith in yourself. The drilling is the most difficult thing for some to imagine. Just drill small holes and gradually get bigger. You can always drill a hole larger, but you can't make it smaller.
