- OBS NDI is a godsend for anyone who doesn't want to spend money on a capture card from the likes of Elgato, AVio/AV.io, Avermedia, or anybody else. If you wanted to get into two PC Streaming, NDI is incredibly valuable. Its easy to configure, doesn't take a long time, and it works very well. do they both need to be in the same router or can they be connected by wifi
They both need to be on the same network (be that wired or wifi). Wifi is not recommended but feel free to try it and see how it works for you.
do both computers need obs and the NDI plugin?

Super straight-forward. Thank you for this tutorial! Much simpler than I expected. I thought I was going to have to completely re-set up OBS with all my scenes on the second PC to stream from it or something along those lines.

Capture card is better if you are serious about streaming though

@@snokido122 Not if your recroding computer has the hardware. In some instances a second beafy computer can in fact be better than many capture cards on the market. Just saying it's not as black and white as saying capture cards are better.

Dude you just blew my mind, I had no idea that I could do it this way, I was using the NDI Tools' Scan Converter application to pick up a source and it was sometimes buggy, had no idea that I could control everything from my main machine, haha awesome. You just made me sub :)

Great video! You can just use the NDI Scan Converter on your gaming PC and have everything, including OBS, on your secondary PC. The Scan converter just passes your screen video and audio to your second PC. This is the way I do it. No need to run OBS on the gaming machine.

I was wondering if an 8 core cpu would just be enough for streaming on secondary pc or should I throw in a 1050ti or 1060 for streaming too?

You just made my life so much easier. My main PC is a ryzen 5 with a 560X and i have a second PC laying around with a i7 6700HQ and 960M but its monitor is broken so I can finally utilize it to take the load of streaming.

I’m streaming from a crappy laptop coz 🤷🏽♀️ quarantine but this really helped me offload some cpu to another crappy laptop until I can get a dedicated PC. Thank you! 🙏🏾

Jacob Geoffrey Bautista Hi Jacob I connected one to the router with the Ethernet and then the laptops were both connected via WiFi (no cables) and it worked fine.

Oh you just saved me a good chunk of change, I was about to order a Ryzen 3700X but I can just use my Ryzen 1600 HTPC I already have in the livingroom to do my encoding, and go with a Ryzen 3600 for gaming PC instead. I will need to order a couple of gigabit ethernet switches to upgrade my network but that's cheaper than the jump from 3600 to 3700X.
I am assuming 3600 + 1600 systems will perform better than a single 3700X system.

I will be setting this up for my church to capture PowerPoint from one computer, as you can’t mess with OBS while PowerPoint is open because it will conflict so I’m wanting to setup a second pc to solve this issue :) Thank you again for the very fast response

i have installed NDI plugin, restarted pc, but its still not showing up under the Tools menu. Any idea? OBS Studio 25.0.4
Edit: Solved it, it was installed to the wrong folder. Leaving this comment here, so you dont have to google it, if you have the same issue.
