The most beautiful thing about this performance is not the song, but the friendship. They are both masters of their craft and sing the heck out of this song, but their love for each other is what is really touching.

I am so glad you guys watched this one. Kenny singing it when he was younger is obviously great. Lionel released it as well & that version is great too. That being said, nothing is better than this version. The love between these two men is such a beautiful thing to see. And the Commadores only heard one word. The song had yet to be written. LOL

Enjoyed your reaction guys! Kenny and Lionel certainly developed an enduring friendship because of this beautiful song. As you said Mel, it was meant to be. I attended Tuskegee when Lionel and the Commodores were there. My wife is from Tuskegee and grew up with Lionel and Ronald LaPread the bass guitar player. It is so nice to see the success they all achieved. There's another song by The Commodores I'd love to see you react to called Zoom. It was writren by Ronald and Lionel and there's a heartbreaking story behind it. Have a great day guys!

I’ve watched this several times over the past few weeks after I found it….and this is freakin’ adorable, if I can use that term!
It’s so great to see Lionel confirming the setup story by standing up and indicating “Yep, that really happened!”…..and to see the obvious love between them as brothers whose souls were connected because of this song….very uplifting!
My attraction to this in the first place is because Kenny’s originally released version of this song was one of the many special songs that was playing on the radio when my wife and I were in high school and we would sit in my car and kiss, talk and….well, you get the picture…….sweet memories of sweet times!
