  • Following on from my visit to St Johns, I moved up the line to New Cross to observe the impact of short notice routing changes caused by a signalling problem between London Bridge and Waterloo East. In this video we see several examples of service diverted onto the slow lines which are normally only used by Cannon Street services. This includes a service that terminates on platform B and turns back to Lewisham.
The platform here are lettered A to D to avoid confusion with the nearby New Cross Gate station.

Excellent video Mr B. Great to see that its still gets a bit chaotic when it goes wrong. Well done 🤓

The BREL/Metro Cammell Class 465 and Class 466 Networkers should still remain with Southeastern for at least 10 years.
As they are still reliable DC 750v 3rd Rail trains that were built in 1991-1994 (Class 465) and 1993-1994 (Class 466).

Agree. The class 707's which South Western ended up not wanting, and were dumped on South Eastern, are truly along with the class 700's , the most uncomfortable trains you can travel on with their Fainsa Sophia ironing board seats.

1:50 - . . . much as it was during the days of LU service?

Is this what South Eastern Railway Damage Control Mode looks like?

12:02 why is this service operated by a 375? I wonder if this is a permenant allocation.

I think my caption might be wrong. I'm away at the moment but will check back to my original records when I get home.

I dont think i have seen platforms lettered rather than numbered....interesting

Not that unusual. Waterloo East is letters and the new Crossrail platforms are also letters.

Why are South Eastern trains always so dirty? It's nothing new. Even 20 years ago or so it was noticeable how poorly they compared to Southern, for example.

The excuse always used to be water use control measures due to lack of rainfall. When that didn't apply the washer was usually broken.
