Glad to know it was a somewhat smooth process, but man, like you said ... for the rest of us common folk who don't have 25 other devices to switch to during that wait time, that would be rough. Also, had the Flip 4 gone with a viritual SIM card ... even if you had a backup device ... you'd potentially be without a phone for the week as well. I think I'll stick with my S21+ for a little while longer. Thanks for the update, CJ!

Just ordered a fold 4 a day ago and also opted for the care plus for the same reason in case the screen does exactly what yours did and run into any warranty troubles. I know to take what I read in comments with a grain of salt but it really had me feeling apprehensive about the purchase. Glad to see your experience went so much better.

It's my favorite phone to date... Well I'm glad they are giving good service to their foldables ... Even the iPhone line up doesn't excite me as much after using this... I'm glad I went for this one this year...
CJ thanks for sharing this experience with us. Glad that Samsung took care of you and made it right in the end. I keep an older phone in the wings just in case I face something like this with my current phone. The one time it did, I was able to go into the store and was given a loaner phone to use while my phone was being repaired.
I and my new Flip4 have been watching this saga unfold, and I am glad this ultimately (seems to have?) worked out. My issue is only have one phone, so I might buy a backup el cheapo off ebay to have in stand-by. Thanks for the thorough review of the entire process!
I sent my phone in for repair with Samsung before and they did a great job. This was before they made deals with Best Buy and Ubreakifix. It did take like a week or 2 to get my phone back. Now that they have a deal with these companies, I love taking my phone in person and getting it fixed and returned the same day with Samsung parts. I just had my S22 Ultra screen fixed by Ubreakifix and it's great.
In my experience with my Z Flip 4, the device runs so much hotter if the display settings are set on with the motion smoothness to "Adaptive" and the screen mode to "Vivid". I turned these features off and my device hasn't overheated since then. I can live without these features, and I'm loving my Z Flip 4.
Hey CJ-Apple here. I'm sooo glad that they got you straight. That makes me feel a little better about my Z Flip 4. I've had it now 30 days and no issues thank goodness. CJ.. Thanks so much for sharing your experience. I can see you take good care of your phones so obviously the problem with the Z Flip was not your fault. Good to know that Samsung came correct for you and hopefully no further problems because I like this flip phone 😊
Them giving you a case for the inconvenience is pretty cool. Thanks for showing your experience. Not the best one, but good to see that they made it right.

I'm glad they took care of it. I told you mines froze on your last video and guess what....it did it again. But now I have Care+ and my insurance with AT&T (which I have always had). Double protection. If Care+ won't fix it, I'll just lay my deductible with AT&T and get a new phone. Win win. Thanks
Exact same issue with my flip 4. It started with the dreaded pink and green line on the screen. Then a black line through the hinge line. Top screen stopped working. Eventually turned into a giant black blob. About to send it off tomorrow morning for warranty repair. Never dropped it or anything. I appreciate this video! Makes me feel a little better. I’m still half expecting them to not honor the warranty.
I was enjoying them until I found out the hinge isn’t covered for repair or warranty. Somehow I feel like this new gear free hinge is worse and going backwards on durability. A so called upgrade like that shouldn’t be overlooked.
My experience with Samsung was great! Had dead pixels on the inner screen and they took care of me right away took it to Bestbuy and they replaced the inner and outer display. Also had a small Nick on the hinge they fixed that too. All on Samsung the experience was great.
Good to see they got you taken care of on that. Hopefully it was just 1 that was truly defective and going forward you'll enjoy the phone without issues
Wife had the Flip 3 last year and the little one would drop and throw and bite the screen and it works fine today. I got her the Flip 4 and in under 3 weeks the hinge is jammed shut and won’t open. Not a scratch or dent on it the baby hasn’t touched it yet. Samsung said the warranty only covers the screen and water damage so they can’t help me so I’m actually returning it to the carrier today to swap it out I’m hoping the replacement doesn’t have more issues….
I’ve never had a bad experience with Samsung customer support. Only thing is the language barrier. Typically I get what I need from them and then some.
I was to freaked out by the quality of the device when so many people were having trouble with the device screen that I just returned mine. glad yours has worked out for you though
As excited as I am to be getting the 14 pro Max in Dec.. For me design wise. Z Flip 4.. I’d have that down as the phone of the year.. or tech innovation of the last 10 years. You know some type of an award.. Flip on a full sized Oled screen, such a great innovation who would have thought this possible when smartphones 1st started.. Flip series will go down in history and I cannot wait to see future iterations along with an Apple flip phone one day 😋😊
I’ve had the same thing happen to me with an older model Samsung note a long time ago, it’s dead pixels in the screen and mine did the same thing and spread. It’s not a common thing to happen but sometimes it does happen. Also thank you for sharing your view on this phone. Ive been a long time iPhone user and wanting to switch to this phone for a change. I will more than likely pay for the warranty as a precaution now though 😂
Mine just broke also. ATT sent me to U Break I Fix, U Break I Fix sent me to Samsung. Samsung sent me to ATT. Very bad! I finally ended up sitting down with an ATT rep and she told Samsung YES I DO have the arranty (phone is less than 6 mos old) The original flip I had forever and traded in for a "better" model. This process has been a nightmare. I'm now pregnant with NO PHONE, waiting for an update. So many posts about this. They HAVE to know this is an issue. Thank you for sharing!
CJ you get treated like Royalty.. and sure right too.. 25 products you spend a lot of money.. however if Samsung don’t replace a defective faulty device for a brand new one, that would be morally wrong. Just 1 is an expensive device. Warranty I think they have the right to repair, but really should replace for a brand new 1.
Though my experience was with a Fold 3 repair. I chose to go to a certified shop as I don’t have a second phone and they repaired my screen no questions asked. Took about 4.5 hours though. The film around the frame on mine was because they had to replace the frame and hinge cover to replace the screen.
One of the Ubreakifix places repaired my Galaxy S20 Ultra for a defective screen but they left a bunch of dust caked up in all my rear camera lenses. I told them this ain’t right, my cameras have dust in them. They told me they can take the phone apart to fix it but they would have to charge me a $50 service fee for a problem they caused. I already paid for the $330 screen repair. Like screw that I’m sending my phone directly to Samsung and they not only fixed the dust issue, they replaced the rear glass because of it free of charge. These 3rd parties are not it, with quality device repairs.
I also experienced the same issue. I used my Flip 4 as my sole phone for business so the 5-7 day turnaround is unacceptable especially since it is a known issue and companies like Assurion provide you with a new phone the following day. I ultimately sold the repaired phone on eBay and bought a much more reliable S22+.
I had mixed experiences when dealing w/ Samsung warranty. My Gear S was fixed and replaced quick for FREE. With my tablet they wanted an authorized dealer to deal w/ it
@@CJKnowsTECH as they should treat you different. If you spend as much money as you have with them, you should get better service. When I spend that kind of money with a company, I kinda expect it.
This is more common than we think. Even the retail seller warned me about the screen problem with a rainbow, or black spots on the crease on the zflip 4. It’s a high return among customers averaging 6 months to a year down the line. It’s no wonder it’s a “free” phone after a trade in.
Video #💯 CJ👍🏽! Been through the same😳 I refused to get a refurbished 😝 for a brand new! I too only want Samsung working on my devices! THANK YOU FOR SHARING YOUR EXPERIENCE!🥰👑
I like ans comment on all of this man's videos. He pumps out content, is maddd genuine and most of all informative. Thanks for always keeping us up to date man!! Keep up the 🔥🔥🔥🔥 work as always 💪🏿
Hi CJ thank you so much for your experience. The same thing happened for me, but, I’d like to know how much did the repair cost? (I mean if there was any cost to get the screen repair with the black dots and not-working touch)
i also have a zflip 4 and the first device they sent me had a line of malfunctioning pixels that crossed horizontally the upper half. they acknowledge the issue and sent me a new device that is working great for now. i had to wait a whole week though
My wife's flip 4 did exactly the same when she opened it. Our mobile provider in UK are refusing to fix it under warranty as they said there is a small scratch on the top corner. 3 months old and never been dropped, and kept in a case since new. Next step is to take it into my local Samsung shop.
I don't know if you remember me that I had commented in your previous video that my z flip 4 had a hinge problem and I sent it to samsung service. The phone is still not ready and not returned to me and I am waiting.
In Taiwan, the same problem in many case about Flip 3,and that samsung repair center in Taiwan said that is " man-made damage " not covered by warranty.... people had cost USD360 to repair it when Flip 4 not yet sold ...
They also tried to help by texting etc. when I dont have a phone....not helpful. I was also rational like you and my phone looked just like yours, in pristine condition. I always had a case on it. I mailed mine in on a Thursday. Cross my fingers! The status update online just says "under inspection". Thank you again for your review!
Thank you for this video. My issue started from my phone not opening fully. Then can the not being able to use the top part of my phone and then the black line at the fold that grew to a black blob. I was extremely worried because I leave for a cruise soon and I need my phone. But I did go through the chat feature on the Samsung website, he did make me a appointment with the 3rd party repair place for today, so I hope it gets fixed same day because I don't have time to mail it in before I go out of town. But your review did give me hope because I do love the phone otherwise and I love how jealous I-phone users get when they see it fold :)
Dealing with samsung is very hit or miss glad to see that you had an easy time dealing with samsung. But yeah for a normal person that only has one phone. It can be a pain to have to be without a phone for a couple of weeks. I think that if its under samsung warranty then they should just send you a new phone especially when your device is still relatively new. Not mention that these phones are very expensive and I wouldn't trust them sending me a refurbished device or having them open it up creating an opportunity for them to accidentally mess something else up on it.
When Samsung does a display repair, the frame is a part of that repair along with the back glass. The only thing that gets transfered from your old device is the internal hardware. So kn the outside, it's basically all new. My Note 20 Ultra ended up with a defective display towards the end of its year warranty, which I sent in for repair. Samsung is extremely easy to deal with when it comes to warranty repairs!
Had mine for a few weeks now and ive not ran into any issues yet! Only thing that i have any problems with is the battery not lasting as long as id like but thats expected with it having power for 2 screens. Also, how have you managed to fit so many apps on the tray??? I can only get 5x6?!
Just came from the past video as I comment before I have the same problem and took it straight to the Samsung store to ask what was going on with the flip 4 and they told me the exact same thing about 4-5 business days so I had to give my phone to them since yesterday and haven't got any email regarding the status of my flip 4...
5-7 days seems like it would be a issue for someone with just the one phone. I wish they had some sort of loaner program with local stores samsung and best buy or carriers in place.
glad you had an awesome experience with Samsung support and that is what we should expect when spending a lot of money on devices. just curious to know how did you set up your app layout on home screen like that? thank you for the informative videos that you put out and continue the good work.
Great stuff from Samsung. These are under warranty, so it should be a straightforward process costing nothing. I assume they have implemented a new customer service; they were caught out with the Flip3 by refusing warranty and charging, from what I saw on Twitter. Any damage meant hard work in getting warranty coverage. I expect that they did good trade-ins on the Flip3; apart from boosting the sale numbers, it was the expectation that the Flip3 display failure rate would rise in years 1-2. So this will give them refurb replacements. Hopefully, the Flip4 display will not be as fragile. Too early to know.
This is what makes me skeptical about using the flip. Don’t get me wrong the fold can have its issues as well but I luckily haven’t had any issues with it.
If you're awake for 15hrs and open/closed your device every 5min every single day, they warranty it for up to 200k folds which would be less than that amount
See this is why I am still unsure about my Z Flip 4. Yes theyve improved the folding screen tech by a mile, but its still at risk of breaking purely because its a moving part. Do you find you have mild anxiety each time u use a foldable now?
@@CJKnowsTECH i struggle with this daily. I keep flipping back to my s21ultra. And maybe, just maybe, the reason i cant fully commit to my flip IS because i have another phone available to me you know?
Glad u said something I know some pll on tik tok been having major problems Wit that phone I was gonna get one but by looking at it making think twice I'm just getting the s22 ultra
Hell, it took me almost two weeks just to be able to ORDER the phone from the Samsung website. Every time I placed it, the order was cancelled within 5 minutes because they "could not verify" my information . . which basically means there was a glitch in their shopping cart that they couldn't find. I literally went through a dozen different people there and had multiple technicians call me over several days as they tried to isolate the problem in their system. It finally took several letters to the office of the president (like, who knew THAT was an option . .) before a 3rd Tier executive stepped in and personally took care of the problem. . . total nightmare.
good to have a smooth customer experince.I still have concerns though. can it be broken again within warranty and still be repaired for free? I chose flagships to use my phones around 4 years. will it have similar issues after the warranty and cost lot for repairs? or does samsung give 5 years of hinge and dead pixel guarentee. certain white goods give 1-2 year product guarantee and give 10 years of motor guarantee on top. samsung can do sth like that exclusive to foldables to motivate adoptions.
Bro you're so lucky you get amazing customer support in America its atrocious in the UK they don't do warranty repairs at all here they treat their customers like garbage
Same exact problem here on a phone I'd had for 3.5 weeks. Don't have a TH-cam channel to trash them though, so they WILL NOT COVER IT because they claim there was external damage to the screen, which there wasn't (I treated it gently). SO BEWARE FOLKS, Samsung will not stand by their warranty in some (or many?) cases.
This just happened to my Z flip 4 also. same deal never dropped it look great care of it. And that is my situation I have no second phone, and I am being told it will take 7-10 business days and right around Christmas is super frustrating. I have had my phone for 2 1/2 months at the most, it I have had other samsung devices in the past but the hardware failure of the folding screen has me sketched out right now for even wanting to use my flip in the future once I get it back. All this happened in a matter of hours of the first issue.
I had UbreakIfix ( Samsung authorized repair ) fix a Samsung Z fold 3 for me and other than the wait time for parts from Samsung it was as easy and walk in and walk out. They however were adamant that my screen protector on my fold was damaged and that was the issue even though I showed them that it was not.
I'm guessing the 'stickers' around the bezels and stuff weren't put on to handle the device. I'm pretty sure they just gave you a new phone to be honest. It takes them less time spent on working hours, and they can take care of it in their own time, if they bother with it in the first place. I used to do repair work for bigger stores warranty on certain electronic devices. The importer or manufacturer sends the parts to me, along with some brand new product. In case the repair would take too long or was too damaged. Repairs are mostly done by companies who work in samsungs name, but also repair plenty of other brands products.
I tried sending mine to get repaired but the person I was talking to just kept trying to get me to buy a s23 ultra for $600 when I had just purchased my zflip 4. I won't spend on a new phone when this phone is new. I am currently looking for another option to get it repaired
@@CJKnowsTECH Yeah. Many of them mentioned that it started at the little prongs on the sides. Apparently one of them can sometimes slip under the screen, and break it when the phone folds. I'm not sure if that's what happened to yours as I saw this video first, but it does make me wonder if the Fold may end up having a similar issue.
Hmm....getting ready to take my brand new Z Fold4 from AT&T that I activated on September 8 into the AT&T store tomorrow. Neither AT&T phone reps were willing to resolve it over the phone and Samsung phone reps said either mail it in or take to the U Break I fix store. This process isn't starting out well at all. The hinge has developed a problem and now the crease has a slight bulge in the middle and it has a small but noticable curve that extends slightly to the right of the crease. Never had this issue with the Z Fold2 or 3.
@@lbeetech There is no Samsung repair center anywhere near where I live. The U break I fix it store near me doesn't repair Galaxy Folds. There is one 45 minutes away. I will go to the AT&T store tomorrow and see what they say. Tomorrow will be day 18 and 4 days past the return policy.. It will probably end up being sent to Samsung via UPS.
I have the exact same issue with my Zflip. brought it in to the repair center and they said they fixed it. it worked for half a day and the screen went black again
Ive taken my S21 Ultra to get a speaker fixed under warranty Samsung paid for it all and the place practically gave me a new phone lol they switched the screen and frame of the phone
@@CJKnowsTECH I was wondering. I was considering the Fold 4 but since I only have one device.. the durability was a concern to me. It’s to bad Samsung doesn’t have stores like Apple where you can just go in and replace/fit it the same day. That would be a game changer.

Same day repair FTW
glad you got your phone back.. Hope it will last you many years to come.. I'll get mine on the 25th Oct. Hoping for the best..
Thanks I hope it last many years as well
You could still factory reset the device, all you needed to do was use the type c port with an adapter n plug a mouse in, it works
Glad it wasn't complicated and it turned it out positive. Did they repair your phone or send you a refurbished one?
I also experienced the same issue. I used my Flip 4 as my sole phone for business so the 5-7 day turnaround is unacceptable especially since it is a known issue and companies like Assurion provide you with a new phone the following day. I ultimately sold the repaired phone on eBay and bought a much more reliable S22+.
that's unfortunate
Wow this was really reassuring, I love my z flip 4!
I had mixed experiences when dealing w/ Samsung warranty. My Gear S was fixed and replaced quick for FREE. With my tablet they wanted an authorized dealer to deal w/ it
Your service will always be good because they saw the 25 devices. Good luck to the normal person with 1 phone.
Honestly I can't argue against this because it possibly did influence my service...
Calling into these type of call centers is almost always a horrible experience. Hopefully you get this issue resolved
Yeah my fold was a $99 replacement cost under the "Samsung Care". No option for a repair... I have the new device now after 5 days
Glad how it worked out for you. What launcher are you using?
I was looking forward for that cold start
Lol😂 next time
I like ans comment on all of this man's videos. He pumps out content, is maddd genuine and most of all informative. Thanks for always keeping us up to date man!! Keep up the 🔥🔥🔥🔥 work as always 💪🏿
Thank you I greatly appreciate your support it motivates me. Respect
Hi CJ thank you so much for your experience. The same thing happened for me, but, I’d like to know how much did the repair cost? (I mean if there was any cost to get the screen repair with the black dots and not-working touch)
I wasn't charged...Samsung covered the repair in my case
Thanks for your reply CJ. ❤
i also have a zflip 4 and the first device they sent me had a line of malfunctioning pixels that crossed horizontally the upper half. they acknowledge the issue and sent me a new device that is working great for now. i had to wait a whole week though
My wife's flip 4 did exactly the same when she opened it. Our mobile provider in UK are refusing to fix it under warranty as they said there is a small scratch on the top corner. 3 months old and never been dropped, and kept in a case since new. Next step is to take it into my local Samsung shop.
Thanks for sharing your experience! I always wondered about the Samsung service with the flip devices. I might get one those in the future.
No problem I figured this video would be helpful
Right
When Samsung does a display repair, the frame is a part of that repair along with the back glass.
At 11:21......what launcher are you using?
Nova Launcher
Had mine for a few weeks now and ive not ran into any issues yet! Only thing that i have any problems with is the battery not lasting as long as id like but thats expected with it having power for 2 screens.
Also, how have you managed to fit so many apps on the tray??? I can only get 5x6?!
Nice! I use Nova Launcher will be making a video on it soon
Just came from the past video as I comment before I have the same problem and took it straight to the Samsung store to ask what was going on with the flip 4 and they told me the exact same thing about 4-5 business days so I had to give my phone to them since yesterday and haven't got any email regarding the status of my flip 4...
May I ask a question, does the gap of the hinge of your flip 4 the same on both sides?
How did u add all those apps on your fold 4 and flip 4 the way you did? how can i do that?
Watch this➡️ th-cam.com/video/ZAKc0KNVxT8/w-d-xo.html
5-7 days seems like it would be a issue for someone with just the one phone. I wish they had some sort of loaner program with local stores samsung and best buy or carriers in place.
I mean you can go to a 3rd party repair center locally to you I just chose to send mines in
glad you had an awesome experience with Samsung support and that is what we should expect when spending a lot of money on devices. just curious to know how did you set up your app layout on home screen like that? thank you for the informative videos that you put out and continue the good work.
Install a 3rd party launcher. Easy and done without rooting, he's simply not using the One UI launcher.
I've delt with Samsung on 2 different occasions and everything went very well.
Nice Thanks for sharing your experience
You can log into your Samsung Account online then go to my products and wipe it from there. Also in your google account you can sign out.
How did you get your icons so small?
This is what makes me skeptical about using the flip. Don’t get me wrong the fold can have its issues as well but I luckily haven’t had any issues with it.
If you're awake for 15hrs and open/closed your device every 5min every single day, they warranty it for up to 200k folds which would be less than that amount
how long is the warrenty?
I believe one year
Is it still waterproof after the repair?
Do you recommend a case for this Phone? Iam in doubt as it would be more for the outside screen.
My phone done this today as well after having it for a month, is it a long process and did it cost any thing to replace
All those questions are answered in the video
See this is why I am still unsure about my Z Flip 4. Yes theyve improved the folding screen tech by a mile, but its still at risk of breaking purely because its a moving part.
Do you find you have mild anxiety each time u use a foldable now?
Yes honestly there is a slight anxiety when using the Flip 4 going forward...
Wow that's not good
Same exact problem here on a phone I'd had for 3.5 weeks.
Let us know how long the new screen at least please.
Hi
It’s happened same thing to me
I had a insurance from T mobile /warranty
So they replace me one but it’s still same issues
The same thing just happened to me with the screen and a coworker a month ago. Clearly a design flaw by Samsung and they should recall this phone.
I tried sending mine to get repaired but the person I was talking to just kept trying to get me to buy a s23 ultra for $600 when I had just purchased my zflip 4. I won't spend on a new phone when this phone is new. I am currently looking for another option to get it repaired
On Samsung's website, a lot of recent reviews are about this exact screen issue.
Yikes
Wow that's unfortunate...
Take it to the authorized service center...
@@ehosey2 Wow, I have one a block up from me...
@@lbeetech Then consider yourself lucky.
I have the exact same issue with my Zflip. brought it in to the repair center and they said they fixed it. it worked for half a day and the screen went black again
Hi! Did they reset it?or did your files was gone? Thanks!
Yeah the wipe it clean so backup if you can
I still need to know where you get your backgrounds from. Lol
Lol😂 I'm a make a video soon
Ive taken my S21 Ultra to get a speaker fixed under warranty Samsung paid for it all and the place practically gave me a new phone lol they switched the screen and frame of the phone
And yes they were a authorized repair shop never once had issues with the phone after
I am getting a z flip 4 so I watched to see if I should get it
Glad it worked out well for you. From one bad apple in the bunch to another bad apple in the bunch 😆, peace
Now did they actually replace the screen or just say they did and give you a new one? 🤔
I think they did replace it since the imei is the same
@@CJKnowsTECH I was wondering. I was considering the Fold 4 but since I only have one device.. the durability was a concern to me. It’s to bad Samsung doesn’t have stores like Apple where you can just go in and replace/fit it the same day. That would be a game changer.
Was it only a screen repair. Is your serial number the same that is on your original box?? Nice job showing the process for warranty claim.
Yes it was only a screen repair...Thanks
Sorry they should have sent you a brand new phone!
