The Z flip is quickly becoming one of Samsung's best selling phones. We tore down the z flip one only to uncover multiple durability flaws. Z fold 4 better and has a better meaning like there is no point on the flip just fliping your phone it's useless.

I've had the fold 3 for nearly a year now and have had no issues with screen damage, as long as you don't dig your nail into the screen (not something anyone would typically do with any screen really) you shouldn't have any problems. The only thing I've needed to do is get the screen protector replaced as it started to bubble after 7 months, Samsung had it replaced with 20 minutes of me walking into the store and said they aren't charging for repeat replacements anymore which is nice
Yeah plus he didn't even damage the screen, like you said there's a screen protector applied UNDER the edges of the phone, to prevent the screen itself to be damaged.

@@kirakira9906 so originally the first screen protector replacement was free and after that is would be about $10 for each replacement you wanted after that but the guy in the store told me they aren't charging people for them even if it's their second, third, so on.

@@kirakira9906 No. With the screen protector on or not, it scratches. It isn’t glass remember. They will always scratch because that’s how that material works in order to bend.

I have the flip 3 and I feel like my case has pretty decent protection.
It's better than nothing.
I have a flip 3 and the case i bought completely scratched up the phone and it looks horrible and has these streak marks too
@@callsai What case did you buy? I had an Otterbox case at first, it was super tight on the phone, but it cracked eventually. The one I have now is a durable semi-rigid rubber.
I have a case on my Z Flip 3 that works quite well. It's just like any normal case. One piece for the top, one for the bottom. There are also cases with a cloth/flexible piece connecting the two halves to cover the hinge.

Yes the hydrophobic coating is pretty, but I still wish Samsung included it in this Z Flip because while I appreciate their confidence in the phone, water can fine its way inside regardless of how water resistant the device is.
Yes but maybe it cost more so when the phone is water resistant, it's better to not to do it

Honestly i have to give you creds for showing little accidents like breaking the front camera cable. not many phone repairers do that and i think it just shows that youre a human too =)
A tip with dealing with the magnets in the flips and folds is to put a finger over the magnet, also if you didn't know on most Samsungs the front camera is super glued in, I always take a dental pick and scrape out the glue then try to remove the camera

The fact he owns an iphone doesnt make his statement hypocritical. He would have had to compliment an iphones minor improvements.
The improvements are relative. Most people just use the phone while they get the updates, and since on of those phones have doubled amount of time in support, they also can bring less improvements with that (actually it's the same in long term, they just don't need to sell the same thing multiple times, like 120Hz v1 and 120Hz copied v2 etc).
Just check the current active amount of phone and the yearly sales for each. Apple covering 6 years of sales with the active users, but Android only covering 2,5 years. Isn't this close to the max support time? This is the time period when they are need to bring enough upgrades.

I just realised after a day of watching this that of course the screen is more prone to damage when it's BENDABLE. Normal gorrila glass cannot be applied or it'll just crack when folded.
If everyone could like this video that would be great. This man just spent $1k just yo prove a point for us. He did it so we didn't have to!

I've never understood people saying the fingernails damage the screen because I've just mine for over a year and there's no 'finger nail' marks or anything. I simply don't intend to dig my fingernail hard into the screen nor do I with a regular phone.
Well, most people buying this and complaining about nail damage are probably women or lgbtq with long nails or acrylic nails.

Yeah it sucks your nails make dents in the screen but it's like self-healing it will go away in a day that's the nice thing about soft OLED displays with a plastic cover they're actually harder to scratch but they are easier to puncture

i actually have one and it is durable i have mine fall down from table or out of pocket like 40 times atleast and still looks like new, has a bit of side scratches
The different colored letters was because you bought a custom bespoke edition. The regular box is better.
Can you try repairing the "nail prints" with heat? Perhaps it gets repaired, such as it happens with hidrogel protectors

The only reason your nail can damage it is because it is a flip phone, it uses a flexible screen so it's much easier to damage. Using harder glass won't work for flexibility ig

One of the main reasons I don't want to get a flip phone, I love tapping my thumb nail on the screen. And even though I have nails the same length as you, it still will damage the screen which I will dislike a lot
Well, this just makes me keeping using Standard Phone as it still more practical and less likely become damage
I will say, the problem with all flips is the fact you have to open the phone and put usage on the hinge everytime you use the phone. I got the flip4 the size and compactness. But I also have to use my phone for work. So at random times in the day I was constantly pulling my phone in and out, open and close. After a month of owning the phone from launch, I dropped it once with a case on in my house, and the left corner of the hinge popped out by maybe a millimeter if that. But that tiny gap in the hinge only allowed me to open my phone barely past 90 degrees. I went to work the next day planning to get it fixed when I got home. But throughout the day it became worse and worse where I couldn't use the phone anymore. Ibreakufix had no parts in stock until mid October-Black Friday. This left me to essentially have to go out and buy a new phone and request a refund on my flip (being that I need my phone for work). If the cover screen was bigger, it would not only reduce the pressure and use of the hinge, which is what every fold user recommends for the fold. But also allow you to still use the phone say you have issues with the hinge and are waiting for a replacement. I loved my zflip4 and I was sad to see it go, just the durability of the hinge at least in my lifestyle doesn't hold up, or I couldn't see the phone holding up for 2+ years. Overall I am still a fan of the flips, and if the flip5 were to have a bigger cover screen, I would be 100 percent on board. Anyways I think the tech is still really early, I'm just sad because
Why didn't you just get a razr then? I used to answer texts on mine when closed all the time and never had any problems. I only opened it twice or so a day at work.
@@insertnamehere6559 I think it's because I'm just roped into the Samsung environment everything I own is Samsung and plus my Samsung pass is pretty extensive and I don't feel like migrating all that data to a new phone or new platform even though it's still be Android I would lose all my Samsung specific stuff.

Apple should do this, like have a sound effect like if the charger is in and it’s not charging then it could detect if it’s not charging and with the charger inside you would get a loud notification signal (even if your silence mode is off) saying charger detected pls make sure power is on somethin like it. Also if it is like charging completely fine it would just be the same

I own the zflip3 and under a year having my screen randomly turn off 😮💨 wish i had gotten a normal phone cause of it.

My flip 4 screen is broke... no cracks... no scratches. When closed the front face works... but when I flip it open there's a small flicker in the top right of the screen. I'm hoping the connector piece is loose. I have a cpb heat mat but trying to find a new lcd screen is going to be next to impossible. I'm hearing mobilesentrix has them but I have to find a cell phone company to purchase the replacement part or just make a fake company (as I've read they dont ask for tax ID numbers.) But these replacement screens are almost 500$USD... I also have a broken samsung S22 Ultra (that one I can fix for much cheaper and a samsung fold 4 (Those outter screens costs just as much as the flip 4's. Currently I use the fold 4 but I have to open it in order to text or tap on icons. It's total bs... I think I'll fix these, sell them as refurbished and go back to iphones. At least now with my cpb heating pad, my new soldiering set, and other phone repair tools I can practice fixing phones on these crappy samsung galaxy phones. I already do laptop repairs but fixing a laptop vs fixing a cell phone are two completely different things. Laptops are much easier...

Just so you guys know. Removing the plastic screen protectors on the folds and flips voids the warranty
It doesn't. Samsung only doesn't cover any damage to the screen caused by removing the protector, but your warranty is fine.

Well the difference is in the battery, which used to be pretty suck on the flip 3. Now i can use my flip 4 with confidence for a full day instead of having anxiety about battery life on the 3
