After getting so used to devil fruits in the story, it’s so weird to look back on the east blue saga, where people thought that devil fruits were just myths and that they didn’t exist.
I think that comes from East Blue in itself being a rather "weak and peaceful" place, as stated by a lot of people in the series. Considering that it is pretty peaceful, it doesn't seem like something like Devil Fruits would occur often.
My whole thing is how could they have thought the fruits were myths if there are actual pirates/navy operatives walking around slinging fire,ice and huge tremors
they probably never heard of the admirals, the navi has little presence there, the strongest guy they knew was morgan, and to make people believe he was strong he could have forbid they of talking about devil fruits

i would assume luffy would be able to turn objects into rubber. it sounds stupid until you actually think about how to use it. first off it could easily throw off peoples footing and if he could actually mentally control it, he could actually coat haki and form fists with extra objects to attack. furthermore, and my personal favorite, luffy can jump into an object forming a rubber cannon to burst towards his enemy for a destructive finisher
I wonder how a Zoan Fish Fish fruit would work... You become a fish, so you can't drown, but you can't swim, so you just sink to the bottom. Maybe that's why we haven't seen any Marine animal models in the series! They are all at the bottom of the sea and since they haven't drowned and died, the fruit isn't reborn, meaning no one else can get it!
Vander decken in the Fishmen arc would be the complete opposite. And he as a Fishman didn't seem to bother much being in the water. I think other way around with a marine fruit would be the same.

Yami-Yami no mi of Blackbeard , Darkness- Most evil of the devil fruits as stated by Blackbeard himself. Gura-Gura no mi of Whitebeard, Earthquake - The power that can destroy the World as stated by Sengoku. Ope-Ope no Mi of Law , Operation Fruit - The most Ultimate Devil Fruit as stated by Doflamingo . i think maybe these are the most topclass DF's in One Piece .
Theory I had for a while about Blackbeard and the Yami Yami no Mi is that he absorbs the devil fruit itself such as how he showed Ace he absorbed the town, however instead of throwing the fruit itself back out from his weird shadow dimension he just throws out the fruit's power instead. and if he can do this for others he could in theory give his crew multiple powers

Chopper's Monster Point has not been confirmed to be an Awakened form. The first time we became aware of Awakening, was during Impel Down, when Crocodile mentioned the demon guards being awakened.
Luffy literally lucked out in his fight with Enel because he had the right ability. Enel destroyed the rest of the Strawhat crew easily and honestly the only reason Enel actually lost is that he underestimated Luffy.

So I have a question that might seem a bit odd. When we saw people eat a Devil Fruit they never ate the whole thing (except for Law who got his forced into his mouth by Corazon) I mean look at Kalifa or Kaku or even Ruffy. My question is: Is it possible that more than one person gets the powers by not eating the whole fruit but rather share it. Or is it possible to do a Lady and a Tramp type of situation where two people eat the fruit at the same time just from another direction? It would be pretty funmy to see four guys having the same powers because of that Edit: Look at Kaku's fruit ( looks like a red banana) what if he ate one of those "bananas" and someone ate another one?
j k This was addressed in an SBS, even if you cut off a tiny piece and eat it, the rest of the fruit becomes useless. In the case where two people eat a fruit the first one to eat or swallow it gets the power. Im not sure what happens of two people eat and swallow a fruit at the EXACT same time but that would be pretty impossible but apperantly in that specific case the fruit chooses at random.

I don't know if it was exclusive to the anime but I remember references to a sea god or sea demon of some sort early in the series. The ocean was to immobilize you and drag you into the depths and die as punishment by this sea god (before the ocean effects were retconned later in the series so Luffy could fight underwater against a racist fishman). I also remember in the anime there was a description of this sort: "When a devil fruit user eats another, both demons fight one another in the inside and destroy the body." As a personal head-cannon/theory: I have this idea that all devil fruits are related to an omnipotent sea demon, possibly defeated in the blank century by the three weapons which resulted in devil fruits. In this case, my version of "D" is the catalyst that brings the sea demon's rise and fall.
MAD Master001 I feel like I remember something similar, except that from what I remember, they weren't talking about some kind of sea god/demon. They were talking about the sea as if it was an actual living being. I think someone actually said something like: If you eat a devil fruit, you will be cursed and the sea will hate you. I may be misremembering this myself to be honest, but I feel like what I remember is more accurate. And for the demons fighting each other, I think that's what was said, but I'm also pretty sure it was said by Jabra, who's really superstitious about things like curses and demons, or at least he was during the scene where Kalifa and Kaku were debating whether or not to eat a devil fruit themselves.
Either way there is some sort of entity that embodies the sea that may be connected to devil fruits. It may be a legend or superstition within the series but such things have either been proven to be true or have some truth to it in the world of One Piece.

You forgot an important aspect, which is where the fruits appear. Although it’s implied they come from trees, there was one case where we saw Smiley the zoan-infused poison gas die, and a normal nearby fruit transformed into a devil fruit, presumably the same fruit that was holding Smiley together.

Zoan types actually have the greatest potential power: A paramecia-type grants you a random superpower, and logia-types make you an elemental embodiment, both of which are additive, meaning they just add additional abilities on top of what you already have. Zoan fruits, meantime, are multiplicative: A weak person won't get much stronger, but a powerful person, like a Haki user, will gain a *tremendous* boost in strength. You can only get so strong with paramecia and logia types, but with Zoans, there is potentially no limit to how far you can go.
In summary: *Logia* : Conjure, manipulate and become a (and I can't stress this enough) *NATURAL ELEMENT* this is probably why Magellan, Mr 3 and Katakuri aren't considered logia *Zoan* : Transform into another animal *Paramecia* : Anything that isn't one of the above
Magellan and Mr 3 can PRODUCE materials, not become them. They don't have the intangibility aspect. That might explain why in the world Katakuri's is called a "special paramecia" though. If its not just because Katakuri's fruit lets him stretch well enough to shape-shift instead of going intangible. We will just have to find out if he can be hit without armament if you can get around his observation.

Great video... which of course means I'm about to bring up a nitpick. With respect to Logia fruit and the natural protection it provides, isn't it more "permeability" than "intangibility"? Attacks still "touch" the Logia Fruit user, it is just they don't do any harm because their bodies are now somehow composed of the "element" relevant to their Devil Fruit powers. If they were intangible, it seems like you wouldn't even see their body shift at all as things just passed through, and you'd wonder why they couldn't just pass through barriers (through, not slide around, be conducted through, etc.). If they enjoy some level of being safely permeable, stuff is touching them but it can't injure them *unless* it is infused with Haki, made of something that messes with their powers, etc.
Wrong fact: he sucks the moisture out of the ground with his sand hand, (as seen when he straight up absorbs water puffy water bullets). Foxy slowing down objects around him isn't awakening, it's just a use of the df

Awesomeness Productions Yeah, I'd still say they're pretty rare. People who eat devil fruits often end up in the Navy, becoming pirates, or becoming important people within their respective nations. That's why you encounter so many of them within the Grand Line because that's where the most important people in the world tend to end up. Think about it, when's the last time we saw a Devil Fruit bearer doing something normal for a living like delivering newspapers, becoming a gardener or running a store?
I think at first oda meant to make the df’s rare but over time he became much more creative and started to move towards making more fruits. Like for example wci arc had fruit users that had similarities to sweets/candies

Umm yeah they’re rare. You mention all the devils fruits we’ve seen but you forget to mention all the background people we see. Enies lobby there’s 10k marines and how many devils fruit? Less than 10.
I just wanna know more about the plant that bears the fruit... does it die after the fruit is grown? Can you wait tentatively for it to spawn another, different fruit? How do you know when the fruit is ripe? So many questions.

Same can be said about haki. People outside of the Grand Line and even most in the first half of the Grand Line (Paradise) never knew of the ability.

This was addressed in an SBS, even if you cut off a tiny piece and eat it, the rest of the fruit becomes useless. In the case where two people eat a fruit the first one to eat or swallow it gets the power.
Im not sure what happens of two people eat and swallow a fruit at the EXACT same time but that would be pretty impossible but apperantly in that specific case the fruit chooses at random.

I don't know if it was exclusive to the anime but I remember references to a sea god or sea demon of some sort early in the series. The ocean was to immobilize you and drag you into the depths and die as punishment by this sea god (before the ocean effects were retconned later in the series so Luffy could fight underwater against a racist fishman).
I also remember in the anime there was a description of this sort: "When a devil fruit user eats another, both demons fight one another in the inside and destroy the body."
As a personal head-cannon/theory: I have this idea that all devil fruits are related to an omnipotent sea demon, possibly defeated in the blank century by the three weapons which resulted in devil fruits. In this case, my version of "D" is the catalyst that brings the sea demon's rise and fall.
MAD Master001 I feel like I remember something similar, except that from what I remember, they weren't talking about some kind of sea god/demon. They were talking about the sea as if it was an actual living being. I think someone actually said something like: If you eat a devil fruit, you will be cursed and the sea will hate you. I may be misremembering this myself to be honest, but I feel like what I remember is more accurate. And for the demons fighting each other, I think that's what was said, but I'm also pretty sure it was said by Jabra, who's really superstitious about things like curses and demons, or at least he was during the scene where Kalifa and Kaku were debating whether or not to eat a devil fruit themselves.
Either way there is some sort of entity that embodies the sea that may be connected to devil fruits. It may be a legend or superstition within the series but such things have either been proven to be true or have some truth to it in the world of One Piece.

You forgot an important aspect, which is where the fruits appear. Although it’s implied they come from trees, there was one case where we saw Smiley the zoan-infused poison gas die, and a normal nearby fruit transformed into a devil fruit, presumably the same fruit that was holding Smiley together.

Zoan types actually have the greatest potential power: A paramecia-type grants you a random superpower, and logia-types make you an elemental embodiment, both of which are additive, meaning they just add additional abilities on top of what you already have. Zoan fruits, meantime, are multiplicative: A weak person won't get much stronger, but a powerful person, like a Haki user, will gain a *tremendous* boost in strength. You can only get so strong with paramecia and logia types, but with Zoans, there is potentially no limit to how far you can go.

In summary:
*Logia* : Conjure, manipulate and become a (and I can't stress this enough) *NATURAL ELEMENT* this is probably why Magellan, Mr 3 and Katakuri aren't considered logia
*Zoan* : Transform into another animal
*Paramecia* : Anything that isn't one of the above
Magellan and Mr 3 can PRODUCE materials, not become them. They don't have the intangibility aspect. That might explain why in the world Katakuri's is called a "special paramecia" though. If its not just because Katakuri's fruit lets him stretch well enough to shape-shift instead of going intangible. We will just have to find out if he can be hit without armament if you can get around his observation.

With respect to Logia fruit and the natural protection it provides, isn't it more "permeability" than "intangibility"? Attacks still "touch" the Logia Fruit user, it is just they don't do any harm because their bodies are now somehow composed of the "element" relevant to their Devil Fruit powers. If they were intangible, it seems like you wouldn't even see their body shift at all as things just passed through, and you'd wonder why they couldn't just pass through barriers (through, not slide around, be conducted through, etc.). If they enjoy some level of being safely permeable, stuff is touching them but it can't injure them *unless* it is infused with Haki, made of something that messes with their powers, etc.
Missed fact: The Logia does have awakening, Sir Crocodile is an example when he uses “Ground death”
Wrong fact: he sucks the moisture out of the ground with his sand hand, (as seen when he straight up absorbs water puffy water bullets). Foxy slowing down objects around him isn't awakening, it's just a use of the df

Awesomeness Productions Yeah, I'd still say they're pretty rare. People who eat devil fruits often end up in the Navy, becoming pirates, or becoming important people within their respective nations. That's why you encounter so many of them within the Grand Line because that's where the most important people in the world tend to end up. Think about it, when's the last time we saw a Devil Fruit bearer doing something normal for a living like delivering newspapers, becoming a gardener or running a store?
I think at first oda meant to make the df’s rare but over time he became much more creative and started to move towards making more fruits.

I just wanna know more about the plant that bears the fruit... does it die after the fruit is grown? Can you wait tentatively for it to spawn another, different fruit? How do you know when the fruit is ripe? So many questions.

it's funny that there are a lot of Devil Fruit we'll probably never see, you also forgot to mention that it specifically states Sea Water, since Luffy can and has been able to bathe, swim and fight while in the water just not in Sea Water.
It's also interesting that there is not a single fishman with a Devil Fruit ability, or that there hasn't been a Nami Nami no MI(Wave Wave Fruit) because even if you could control and become water, exactly how useful would that be if you can't touch it.
