He is also able to get the big picture of the situation and boil it down to its essence - that takes a certain kind of intelligence - the kind needed to be a successful leader. He is able to see someone’s strengths and weaknesses. He hates cowards and crybabies.

What I love more about luffy as a character is his resolve. Its just ridiculous in a really good way. Like the times he's basically been moments from death and said help whoever like he did with bon clay in the impel down arc. Like I say it's his resolve. Just in terms of getting stronger as well not just for himself but to protect everything he cares for. You could basically say he's pirate goku in a way but definitely a hell of a character.
I love Luffy for what he is from a story writing perspective. It's clear that at first Luffy's devil fruit seems absolutely overpowered, and Luffy beating Alvida was the reason I and most of my friends thought this. But what's actually going on, is that Oda made Luffy a character that shows how training can make even the most underpowered fruits absolutely broken. Him being the main character also helps us constantly remember this

He has one of the most useless devil fruits but because of his rigorous training as a child, innovation, and haki he has become one of the most powerful characters in the series. at some point soon he could beat almost any characters in a 1v1.

Luffy is by far my favorite character in the OP world. What I have always loved about him is how creative he gets with his abilities. Unlike Goku: no signature moves, no real progress. Goku is a one trick pony. Scream until your opponent gets intimidated.
Dragonball Super Goku is Luffy im Goku skin. It was done by toei animation, do not compare that abomimation to Goku from Dragonball , Dragonball Z and Gt.

From what I saw from the 4kids dub years ago I thought Luffy was just some wacky Goku knock off. but after getting to know who he really is for the past several months he's easily one of my favorite One Piece characters. I also love his japanese and Funimation voices.

In a way, Luff is the modern Japanese pirate equivalent of the Fool from "The Fool and the Flying Ship." He also has traits in common with Plastic Man. Luffy's crew itself is sort of a variation of the Fool's own very unique crewmen.
Luffy acquired Conqueror's Haki after being possessed by 100 shadows, he didn't have the ability previously, meaning he either got it from 1 of those shadows or after being possessed, he had awakened the ability as stated by his Grandpa
You may have recorded this before you made the Gomu Gomu explained video but I do think you should have made a small mention of it for people wanting to get to know the fruit more intimately. As this stands as the best 10 min recap of One Piece I've ever laid eyes on so I thank you for this!
Little fact: before the reunion of the the straw hats after their seperation, every time luffy used his 3rd gear attack, he would revert to a much smaller version of himself and be very tired afterwards, however, after the 2 year training and the straw hat reunion, he is now able to use it without worry of becoming small and weary and can even focus his ability to just his hands instead of his entire arm. Also, while not officially confirmed by the creator, fans believe that luffy possesses a special type of armament haki known as gold haki, which is much tougher than regular armament haki and is a sign of being the king of pirates. Extra fact: luffy, usopp and chopper created a silly dance where they stick chopsticks in their nostrils and under their bottom lip and wave their arms around while holding bowls.

Little fact: before the reunion of the the straw hats after their seperation, every time luffy used his 3rd gear attack, he would revert to a much smaller version of himself and be very tired afterwards, however, after the 2 year training and the straw hat reunion, he is now able to use it without worry of becoming small and weary and can even focus his ability to just his hands instead of his entire arm.
Also, while not officially confirmed by the creator, fans believe that luffy possesses a special type of armament haki known as gold haki, which is much tougher than regular armament haki and is a sign of being the king of pirates.
Extra fact: luffy, usopp and chopper created a silly dance where they stick chopsticks in their nostrils and under their bottom lip and wave their arms around while holding bowls.
I think people forget that when Luffy said about 10 crew members would do, he wasn't including himself. As such, it makes sense as to why Yamato should be the last one.

You’re actually wrong, Luffy doesn’t usually mind cherry pie, he just absolutely hated the one he had on Jaya. In the SBS, Aida says that Luffy’s least favorite food is “a certain establishment’s” cherry pie.
