damn i'm thinking of getting a Bixby jet to test out my Bkc tandem 14 foot kayak with fully loaded kayak on 2 foot pedal drive props. just to see how good it is vs the minnkota trolling motor and Gas 52cc 2.3hp 2 stroke outboard motor(built like a trollin motor but gas operated) from amazon..
@@WannaFishAllDay lol that's good enough for me. I think.. as along as it can withstand 11mph or less winds and get me across the lake to my fishing spots(what i'll mostly use it for) when i'm lazy using the pedal drive. Am not using it for any salt water ocean fishing.
Newport NK-180 is another great option. The Bixpy is awesome but it depends what’s most important to you (speed, compact, ease of installation, cost etc.)
Have you tested speeds pedaling with the motor going? I’m curious if pedaling lightly would increase speeds at the lower settings to improve battery life even more.
I get 4mph just using the pdl on my Salty 120. I looking & hoping someone makes a drop in Trolling Motor to Replace my Pdl. Just a pull out & drop in type
It tracks the same for me and I can’t tell a difference. At first, it would steer right from the start but I realized the motor was not completely parallel with the kayak. Once I made the adjust, it tracked straight.
I own 2 new Salty 120pdl's. Does anyone make a Drop in Trolling Motor for the pdl hole? Just a straight pull out the pdl & drop in a Trolling Motor with the same storage compartment like on the PDL?
No and I wish someone would! I just acquired the Autopilot unit from an Old Town Autopilot kayak and am trying to figure out how to mod it to work in the PDL hole on my 120 sportsman pdl but its not gonna be easy. I could easily do a regular trolling motor using another blank off plate, but this will give me ipilot and I paid peanuts for this unit. If only they had designed it around the PDL hole, but they put it farther forward for stability reasons.
This motor is way to slow and you tested going into waves and a headwind. Also the prop basket you swapped in during install is much more restrictive than the stock one, I would switch that back if I were you.
Very cool testing 👍🏼. Thanks for sharing this with us 🤝🏼 until the next one ✌🏼 buddy 🙂
Great test! Love the easy-to-read results! This will be my first year using the Bixpy -- I'm excited to try it out!
Good luck!
@@WannaFishAllDay Thanks! You too!
Very informative. Good test and good video.
Great test, thanks!
Thanks! Glad it helped!
Tuning in fam
Nice!! I am on the fence about the insert due the price
Another great video , now Watching

Definitely not gonna be as fast but pretty impressive for how small and simple it is. I’ve been averaging about 3-3.5 mph.

Surprised at how slow it performs. Thinking of one for my PDL 106 but really want more performance for the cost

@@WannaFishAllDay Have you tested the NK-180 speed in the same set up? Thanks.

I usually pedal lightly with motor on. Definitely get higher speeds with very little effort pedaling.

Do u feel that the motor is slightly offset from centre

Thanks for your comment. That’s a good suggestion in the prop basket.
