Very good report of this motor. Im on the fence at the moment about the k1 on my hobie outback will wait for yout 12 month review. Thanks for your honest review.
No problem. They have the K2 now with the bigger battery. I would get that one over this one. Aluminum housing, longer lasting battery and smaller unit all together as far as the motor. You won’t be disappointed. I also have the Torqeedo on my Nucanoe. But that is my main means of getting around over just a paddle. But for the Hobie the Bixpy is good! I will keep you updated in the future.
Thank you. This is Ryan of the 2. I just use my wife’s FB account for stuff. Haha. I started all RJM Fishtales and social media separately as professional accounts. Thanks for the support!
I love my J2 Bixpy and I have it setup the same way. I have my 2022' Hoodoo Impulse 120, with my fin drive. I run my Bixpy on the Vibe Gravity rudder, and i plug my deck, with the factory cassette. I Never get water in my cockpit, with my fins out. I'm 5ft 7" 155 lbs. I've hit 5.2 to 5.5, depending on conditions, wind, current. But, usually I'll run speed 6 to 7 just to hop around, or to get to my spot and back to the launch. I do have a spare battery, mounted in my black-pack. And you're correct. They're supposed to be coming out with, 8 think a 2hp Bixpy. 4.5 to 5.5 mph on a kayak, with all gear. Be safe my friend, love the setup. 🎣 😎 🌊
Yea I like the Bixpy. I have a few videos on it. And also doing another update video for his week. Thanks for watching, comment and you be safe as well.
Good video buddy 🍻. Im same in Weight and have a Old Town sportsman 106pdl so i would get along the same speed I think 🤔. If i got the motor. Thanks for the video, and until the next one ✌🏼🙂
I have an Outback & just got the K1 with the smaller battery. I expect to use it the same way you’re using yours, except I got the cassette drive mount-which I don’t like! Haven’t had a chance to install the PP mount yet but looking forward to it. Curious: Did you ever mount the battery to the Blackpak?
I thought about mounting it to the black pack but doesn’t bother me being lose in the back. It’s a sealed battery anyways. I also move my black pack to other kayaks.
@@rjmfishtalesyeah I wondered about that after asking-I see you mentioned another kayak too. I feel like it must push the boat a lot better from the back, as you got significantly faster speeds than I did on my one test-but to be fair that was a very windy day AND I found out at the end of the day that I have a crack in my hull (near the seat). Not sure if that had an impact. I’m waiting now for my replacement hull so I’ll look forward to installing it in a few weeks! And then once my PA joins the family, not sure how or if I’ll motorize it.
I wonder what your opinion is on whether it can go 6 hours none stop at 2.5mph which would probably be speeds 6 to 8 from what I gathered from the video.
It won’t last that long on high. High is only rated for 80 minutes. It last me all day on the water for 8 hours but with utilizing the fins on the Hobie as well.
@@rjmfishtales Yes the idea is to pedal my hobie lynx with the regular fins nonstop while setting the bixpy at 2.5mph nonstop. Ineed this to salt me at least 6 hours.
@JavierSanchez-fq2df it will last for a while. I think Bixpy has battery life on their website for different speeds with certain kayaks. Not sure if battery will last for 6 hours non stop. They have a new battery out as well that is bigger.

Good assessment Meredith! Bought mine for the same reasons as an assist from point A to point B! Great video!

@TheFishingMommy I would only have the Bixpy on a Hobie with the fins. And yes it will go a lot faster from the back and leave the fins in.
@@rjmfishtales thanks!! Really appreciate the info, and your videos!
