    What do y’all think of the Bixpy K-1

    • @everythingyouknowis
      @everythingyouknowis 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Been using a K1 on a ‘18 Hobie Outback with the twist and stow rudder mount. I’ve been impressed with it so far. Battery life of the Bixpy battery isn’t given enough credit. I don’t run full speed everywhere, but I’ve still yet to kill it while out on the water… and I’ve been fishing on some long trips around Galveston area.

      I have the J-2. And love it. Never used up the battery. I can go 3 days. I spend about 7 hours a day but only use the motor to get from place to place. Otherwise use the Hobie pedal drive.
      But at 71, it's great to be able to cruise back without effort!

      I like them. Had one in my cart forever but ultimately decided on a 55lb TM mounted in my pedal drive hole. Added auto boat to it so I had anchor lock. Still a few hundred less than the Bixpy. But I’m still a fan of the system. I like the rudder mount version.

      Overpriced. Great concept, but there are no brushless motors or battery/inverter that would come close to that expensive...and they are expensive. 800bucks would get you twice the range and power. What a joke.

    • @JSabh
      @JSabh 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @TexasPapa13 exactly, a 1000 watt 100lb thrust salt water trolling motor is ten times better. And for controls, just detach the head and extend the wires, also with steering obviously. It's easy.

    I’ve had the K1 for a year now. I use on my Hobie Outback with the adapter to fit into where the pedals go. I didn’t want to go through the transom mounting. It’s very portable and easy to swap with the pedals while out on the water. I like it and it’s been a good solution for me. Best speed I have gotten on a fully loaded Outback is 4mph.

    It's also worth mentioning that the smaller battery shown in this video floats.

    I've been debating the trolling motor addition to my Recon 120 HD and keep the pedals and rudder functional. I wanted to go with the Yak Hoby Beavertail rudder but I'm going with the Bixpy and Versa rudder now. Makes using the motor with another kayak way easier. Thanks for the review

    I just did an install of one of these on my buddies 120pdl. Way too loud the battery is a major issue and you would think it would be a little more weedless. Looks great but the nk kills it

    Did you guys use the universal versa rudder in the old town? If so, did you replace the steering cables or did you add some type of extension to the existing cables? If you added an extension what did you use. Bixpy has a video about this but didn’t explain how. Thanks

    • @aaanglers

      We used it on the Oldtown bigwater which did not have cables included. We added them after. We did not use it on the pdl 106.

    It is becoming increasingly clear to me that I "should not" buy a full size boat for recreation--cost vs. how often I would use it. I am older and need to keep my expenses in check. I am not unhealthy or lacking upper body strength, but I just to have fun on the water experiences. Is this a good value for older people?

    What would give Bixby a 10 instead of a 9 on customer service? Seems like they did a great job providing you a replacement.

    • @aaanglers
      @aaanglers  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      10 outta 10 is gonna be tough for anyone. It would be going way above and beyond. I don’t think it would be fair to give a 10 here, because they sent me the product and will obviously take care of me because Im reviewing it. If I wasn’t making a review as a normal customer, and they gave me this service, then id be even closer to a 10.

I am hesitating between the (Bixpy K-1 Angler Pro Outboard Kit) and the (Scubajet PRO Overwater Kit / Scubajet PRO XR HD) I would love to have such a detailed review on this product.

    Question for you guys. Did you say you shouldn't rig the Bixby in a fixed position and use the kayak rudder to steer (the company recommends this for my Hobie Compass)? If so, why not? Is there a downside to doing this? Thanks for your help.

    • @aaanglers
      @aaanglers  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think we were just saying, you want it in a straight position not offset like we had it on Paul's Old Town. It works great, as long as it replaces or is out of the way of your rudder.

    Hi Guys
    Really like your channel - like kids in the candy shop on the unboxing videos it is infectious.Any how I am based in the UK however during a recent holiday in France I thought I would have some fun spinning for perch etc- however when I went to the tackle store I was confronted with a whole array of lures that the guy assured me worked - and boy did they had so much fun - so am thinking of carrying on here - I have at present a Daiwa Ninja rod - 7-25g rating but will also be buying a rod to cast lighter lures (although the above does well with 5g lures) - however I am at the point of choosing the reel and am tempted by the Shimano slx dc xt- what I find incredible is that you speak of really light weight 32nd of an ounce which you cast with these reels - can a lure that light really get a baitcasting reel spinning enough to make an effective cast? Apolgies if this seems a basic question but I have always been used to a fixed spool reel and perhaps need some reassurance from you guys in the know before I purchase- like you buy once cry once!
    Regards

    • @aaanglers
      @aaanglers  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      you certainly can cast lures that light with a good BFS reel. You would likely have a tough time on a Shimano SLX XT. We'd recommend reels rated to go that light. Options include: Daiwa Salamandura, Flight Feather Cormorant, Ark BFS, Daiwa BFS, Shimano Aldabaren, and others. Pick your poison by price point! All of those are fantastic.

    Hi I have a 400 lb dory that I am looking to get an electric motor for. Which would you recommend? It's a row, sail motor boat called a crawford swampscott dory 16. I want something also that I can take to use on a double ended rowboat 17 ft. I don't want to buy two different motors so am looking for one for both boats. I know the motor for the dory at 400 lbs compared to the rowboat at 150lbs will be overkill but that's the trade off lol. Thanks!

    • @johnybigbravo
      @johnybigbravo 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@aaanglers Yeah! Usually, when I am running electrical cables and I don't have a guiding cable, I use a vacuum cleaner and braided fishing line. When I receive the line in the vacuum cleaner I pull a single cable so that I can use it as a guiding cable 😜😉.
      Also, for passing cables through tubes on a kayak, you can use your bare mouth and suck the braided line so you can use it as a cable guider after 😉.
