The Galaxy S20 Fan Edition or FE for short is a budget flagship that costs $300 less but gives you so many of the features of the Galaxy S20 and Galaxy S20+. If you want a dedicated Galaxy S20 FE vs S20 plus or Galaxy S20 FE vs S20 let me know, I think the real comparison now is the Galaxy S20 FE vs Galaxy S20 Plus. Thanks for the video Danny! I'm finally ready to move on from my Galaxy S6 - hopefully black friday will have some decent deals, and this phone came out of left field for me after I had pretty much decided on upgrading to the S20.
I think for me it will really come down to the cameras - do you find that, overall, you prefer the picture quality better on the S20 or the S20 FE? I've also heard from some reviews that the camera lags in the Fan Edition.

Seems like the FE has the best value for money, with the best price, best battery life (4500mah with native 1080p 120hz), flat screen and comparable camera quality. $699 is a great deal and with black Friday and Samsung's inevitable price drops in a few months this phone will be an absolute steal. Good job Samsung

That is the first proper Camera Test of the Fe! Thanks for that! Many other TH-camrs said that the Tele Lens is better on the Standart S20 (i think they don't tested it, just read: "Oh, just 12Mp, thats lower than 64Mp, so it must be worse".)
Also that is exactly how I like a camera Test. Show also extreme dark conditions and extreme Tele, despite they don't look so well, (they are best to see differences) and tell in the Video what you think is best and highlight details! Well done!
Generally comparison videos are ok. However this guy is amazing!! Side by side pic comparison, variation in lighting, identical zoom to see clarity, texture, etc. This video was amazing! Thank you for putting it up. You had everything I wanted to see in comparing these phones. I'll definitely be checking back in with this guy to see what else he reviews
This is the best comparison I've seen for these phones. I completely agree with everything you've said! I'm pro flat screen too which was one of the deciding factors for getting the FE over the other S20 models. I got the S20 FE the other day (Exynos as I'm from UK) and it's brilliant! Upgraded from Galaxy A70.
Enjoying my FE so far! The flat screen and low price with negligible drop in camera quality compared to the S20's sold me on it

Thanks for the detailed camera comparison. I was really surprised to see the S20 and plus using digital zoom almost equaling the shots of the 3x optical zoom on the FE. I wonder if in low light the FE would pull ahead since it's using much bigger pixels than the other two - have you noticed a difference in low light?

Thanks! I was really torn between the S20+ and the FE. I take a LOT of pictures, but I'm still toting around an S7 (yeah yeah, laugh all you want) so ANYTHING is an upgrade.
Still, the reason I take so long to get new phones is because when I get one, I agonize over which will give me the best camera but is also user friendly.
I did notice in a lot of instances the + is a bit sharper, but for the price difference, the FE makes up for it in other ways.
I'm with you- I hope they correct some of the minor stuff later on in the software upgrades.

I got the FE which has pretty much everything I need in a phone. 120 Hz refresh rate, SD 865, 5g, 8 gigs of RAM, and cameras good enough for me. I absolutely love the lavender colour too. But I got it before the S20+ went on sale. It is being sold at virtually the same price, or even lesser than the FE right now, and if that's the case in your country, I think it's better to go for S20+. If the looks of your phone matters to you, that's even more of a reason to get the S20+, since it has a glass back and a curved display which might be a huge deal for people coming from previous flagships. PLUS, you have to know that the S20 FE does not come with a fast charger, even if it supports fast charging. No earphones either. So S20+ is definitely the best deal, if both versions come with snapdragon in your country. Also, FE can only go upto 1080p while the S20+ can go up to 1440p. Just think about it, higher resolution curved display with better pixel density, better front facing camera, 12 gigs of RAM, glass back, fast charger and earphone in the box, S20+ is definitely the better deal, especially if they're similarly priced.
there's a known issue right now where the s20 series has a green line of death except for s20 fe

Another top video Danny. I've got a Samsung s20+ but thinking of maybe going for the new pixel. As you can guess I go for camera over most things and after selling my last Huawei P30 Pro I must admit I was a bit disappointed with the 20 plus results that I'm getting.

Amazing video. Bigger battery and no curve display are important to me, so definitely good to know the S20 FE is better for that. Also, the video seems to be basically the same. Great subjects for the photoshoot by the way! These are the kinds of memories that make picking a good phone camera so important to me.

ONE QUESTION, about the telephotos: I'm surprised that with the regular S20/S20+ we don't see superior detail in 30x zoom, compared to the FE, considering that we see superior detail quality at 1000% scale earlier in your video?
It’s hybrid zoom. That’s why. It’s 1.1X and then the rest of it is digital where the FE is 3X optical and then digital from then on.

You can get the S20 FE 5G Version with Snapdragon in many countries which only have the S20 Eynos Version.
all 5G editions all over the world have SD 865. I m gonna buy it for sure (GREECE)

Great video, Danny! The problem is that given the usual price drop in Samsung's flagships, the FE 5G and the S20+5G have the same price now ( in Europe). It is true that the FE has the SD, but the S20+ is more premium.
The Snapdragon is worth it.

Because I live in the UK the FE appeals in two main ways. One we usually get offered Samsung flagships with Exynos SOC, so for me it's a deal breaker. With the FE we get the Snapdragon 865. Two it's 700 pounds rather than 1000 pounds. For me it's a compelling package and I'll definitely will be buying one

I use the S20 FE for all my Thailand vlogs and find it phantastic. The SD Card slot makes it a no brainer for 4k video recording. My only complain: no 60fps on the ultra wide

i have put in a 1TB SD in my S20FE now I have 1,128GB storage available...with such an amount of storage and features, provided the S20FE comes at the same prize range of a budget phone, why even buy modern budeget phones which come with just 256GB non expandable storage?
Wanna upgrade but because i need an SD slot i cant even look at S21 and S22 lineups so im basically stuck at S20.
I'm a bit late to the party and kinda worried about the degraded battery even if its an unsold device which was in the warehouse since launch.

Obviously s20FE, because of the better plastic back(more durable, and more better looking), true telephoto camera, better HDR, and 4500mah(500mah more than s20), all other features are nearly the same, and is the cheapest of the bunch
Already know this ones gonna be a good one very curious as a tech reviewer about that FE but on eBay you can get a S20 or S20+ for cheap now which is crazy! Obviously Great video commenting as I’m watching!
Yeah just make sure you don’t get the international one most of the ones that are for sale on eBay have samsung chip which is inferior to the QUALCOMM chips so check that out before you go which button that says yes I want to buy

@@angelocabanillas2999 its pretty good haven't had any problem with it. It lasts all day. But it all depends if you are a heavy phone user or not. Plus I always use it at 60hz witch saves me battery to me there's no need for 120hz and I also switched it to 4G instead of 5G because there isn't a big difference between 4g and 5g in my opinion but using it in 60hz and 4g saves you more Life!!! I hope this helps

in india the launched for 700$. but it gets and exynos 990 and only 4G. so that is a deal breaker. mostly people will go with oneplus 8t instead. because it is going to have 865 5g and the main camera from the 8pro

Samsung is the best, apart from the camera Google pixel phones cannot compete with S 20FE in terms of processor, storage, and many other features, so is the case with Oppo having worser battery and non expandable storage. Mi 10t is much worse because it has an LCD screen, no expandable storage and no telephoto camera. In short Samsung S 20FE is unbeatable even in modern era, with phones that provide great features but lack expandable storage, and many other important features
Great stuff. I would love to see more portraits of people, but WITHOUT the portrait mode turned on. Especially comparing 1x zoom (while standing close tot he person) and the 3x zoom (while standing back, enough so that the frame is the same as the 1x zoom).
You didn't mention video stabilization for S20 FE for front and rear camera.

Love the flat screen, was thinking of a note 20 but the fe is looking good. I really find the curved screen a pain push things accidentally,screen protectors don't stay on long and they crack easy

Watching on my 20 Plus, I got it many months before FE was available at a good price. I'm happy with it but if I was making the choice now, I would definitely be thinking FE for value.
I bought both this week (used in great condition) for 250 euros each. FE I have the 4G Snapdragon version, S20 Plus is Exynos. Both on One UI 4.1 with Android 12.
I love the small bezels on the Plus and the slightly curved screen though! FE might get more Android updates. However I switch phones regularly so that really doesn't matter.
