Thank you for posting this comparison. I've wanted to trade in my Samsung 9 for a while now. Sounds like Samsung really overhyped their marketing for the 20. Made it sound like this phone would replace all DSLR type cameras. So I was going to pass over the 10 just to buy the 20. I'd rather stick with a 10 and not pay more for a overpriced, underwhelming 20. Thank you again.🤗 This review really helped out a lot.

I took some epic photos w my Galaxy S10! I upgraded to the Galaxy S20 Ultra & I like it, but wonder if it was worth the money. I don't dislike the S20, it's a good phone; fast & it takes good pictures & video. But I noticed right away that it takes darker images, on average, and I have to photo shop many shots to add light. If something happened to my S20 & I had to replace it, I would seriously consider going back to the S10. Beside the factors I just mentioned, I miss having a headphone jack!
Honestly I liked S 10 most - with S20 & S21 we have problems with focus when taking a close range photo & those phones struggle to focus sometimes. S10 didn't have this problem & it was able to take a picture of raindrops falling. I feel S20 camera a bit worse for common daily use than S10 and it is sad. I was even thinking about returning to my S10.

Good comparison. I totally agree. I must admit preferring a lot of the hydynamic photos from the s10 over the 20. Foreground looked to dark on the s20 and even so it still didn't control the highlights as well. I know they tonnes it down to reduce noise which was a problem on the s10 but only pixel peepers would appreciate this.

Last yr s10 was my favorite. I came from the xs max to the s9 right before it came out and now I got the s20ultra and love it. The camera is amazing and everything about the phone is top quality.
Then you using SD, exynos is garbage.

The screen on S20 is not 8k... you can see the difference when you turn on Smart View on an 8k TV like how Samsung mentioned
I like the realistic color of s10 camera quality than s20 look so much in bright and expensive price and audio jack port
Thanks for the video. The S20's pictures do present more highlight blow outs and black crush. Also, pictures on the S20 are darker because of the aperture size (less light passes through some of the S20's lenses). I cannot attest to which one as better color accuracy. Thanks again!

For many reasons! Like many, I am on a limited income.(as someone...at 72...and retired). But it's intended for a community project (which will require a camera and video to help people share their stories). And since close to my heart I would pay more than can afford if believed camera would be far superior in achieving goals. So I hope you can imagine my relief when your video provided such compelling evidence that the s20 offered no substantial impovements that would justify the price... and even some areas s10 is superior.
And I was pretty sure it was a good choice...but this left no doubt and I now have peace of mind

I have the s20 now. Im coming drom the s10. Worst "upgrade" ever. Battery life on the s10 was better. S10 had a headphone jack. And i swear the s10 was faster. The s20 is 20:9 ratio and the s10 19;9, so the s20 is horrible watching youtube. It is so narrow you cant type! S10 had a Better camera setup and looked overall Better imo. Only advantage the s20 has is the 120hz screen but if you use that im having a 3 hour screen on time. Had every galaxy S Phone from the s3. This is the last time i swear. Gonna sell this one and buying the OnePlus 8. Horrible job by Samsung
I have to agree. Good points. The S20 series seems like a poor upgrade overall. Not to mention unacceptable price of the S20 Ultra and cutting features from standard Galaxy. I was also slightly disappointed with battery life and that aspect ratio. Although I've liked more narrowness - it was a little bit more comfortable for me.
I am also getting OnePlus 8 (Pro). S20 especially with Exynos is so not worth it.

I gota say, I prefer the brighter and more vivid s10 photo. And the s20 has a very shallow focus depth, and I don't think it's worth the gain in detail.

It is an advantage that the S10's camera receives a lot of light, as it is an aperture of f1.5. Everyone is fooled by the number of megapixels. but in reality, photo and camera quality has a lot to do with how much light gets in.
I found the s20+ for around $650.... So had to give up the s10+. Also the 120 refresh rate, smaller hole punch vs the pill cutout, better zoom in cameras, 5G, 9 watt reverse wireless charging instead of 3...more?
For people that have been used s10 plus, does the battery drain fast?
Considering the fact that in June 2020 you can get the S10+ for half the price of the regular S20, it's a no brainer! S10 for the win! 👍

I don't understand the comparison ..but clearly the S10 + takes some spectacular photos it is undoubtedly still a top mobile We have received the latest update 2.1 and it is faster, more camera settings, and more autonomy

How is the zoom past 3x on the s20my s10 can go to 4x up to 10x and it sux i live in the country and sometimes need to take longer shots and its so grainy its unusable even if I take shot at 3x and try to zoom in after same deal

I just upgraded from the S8 plus to the S20 plus. Im so happy with the the old camera ,I cant imagine the S20 being much better than my beat up, 3 generation old S8 plus.. We shall see.
Its upsetting to here about the Macro in the S20.
Hope it's at least as comparable to my old S8 plus.

I'm not an expert but if your upgrading and the importance is the camera like it is for me, I'd skip the s20. The phone itself is great.
Zarówno S10 jak i S20 nawet dzisiaj dają radę zawstydzając nie jednego średniaka pod względem aparatu. Porównałem zdjęcia z S20 do zdjęc z popularnej Motoroli Edge 40. Moim zdaniem nie ma się czego wstydzić "Staruszek" S20 w tym porównaniu zarówno w dzień jak i w gorszych warunkach 😁
Its all about the camera, its about the specs which are soooooo much better than the s10, it has 120hz, more ram, better chipset etc.

To me the s20 is the clear winner by a wide margin. So much more vibrant pictures with less HDR, when you see the shadows. It actually blew me out of the water that the difference could be so huge.

I just upgraded from the S10 to the S20 and I prefer the S10's camera, I will keep it as my photography phone.
You shouldn't have upgraded to the S20 in my opinion, and if you wanted to chang devises maybe an iPhone would've been a better option.
@@Maarttiin I didn't purchase it, it was gifted to me by Samsung. I wouldn't have paid that much for a phone, or I would have gotten the plus rather than the Ultra.

@@roygertel I prefer the faster auto focus, overall exposure and better HDR processing of the S10+. I feel like it it easier to point and shoot and get a really great image with the S10.

Yah I'm 2nd guessing my decision to upgrade to the S20. I spent the money, now I really miss that headphone jack! And the pictures & video aren't $600 worth of better.

There's definitely an under-cooked software in s20. Its unfair to compare them right now. HDR shouldn't be a problem in s20. Details shouldn't be worse in s20.
Camera software update is coming to both.
So, you wouldn't find much difference later.
Only difference is 5G.
And in WiFi connectivity.

S 10 puls is the best
I have s10 and don't really see any major improvements to upgrade. Even though S20 is downgraded in some aspects like it is missing a headphone jack(3.5mm), heart rate sensor and the sp O2 sensor used to measure heart rate and blood oxygen level respectively. And I like the design of s10 more.

Thx, that is a very helpful video. I agree, the optimum in exposure would be a mix of both, S10 sometimes is a little too bright (thus I'm mostly using Pro mode where you can configure) and the darker S20.
What's bad about future is, that with bigger sensors, because of optical physics, focus will become more critical and to avoide unsharp picture corners the lenses of phone will have to improve

@@znnt6727 Skin smoothness yes, but don't know any Galaxy S / Note that can adjust skin tone. Latest S21 line is more natural though. This test is completely outdated, as S/Note 10 series got OneUi 3.1 update including S20 cam app with noticeably changes in HDR with more/ better pic contrast. Selfies are good but still little asian style bright skin tendency

That's why I was thinking that S20 is not a huge upgrade when compared with S10 ..
The high exposure at dark areas on S10 occurs because of the aperture size, which can go up to f/1.5 so it allows more light to pass through the lens.

I was already crying about the loss of headphone jack, and now I better understand the differences between the cameras, I sortof agree that the s10 camera is better in several aspects.
Now while the S21 has a better camera again, the loss of SD card slot is a deal-breaker.
So now, I plan to hang on to my old S10+ for another few years.
Ive been having issues with my s20 since day 1, I miss my s10.
S10 had many of them in the beginning, later on got quite a lot of updates and now it works good, same will be with S20. It was always like this, with pretty much every flagship.
@@pixellord1 To be honest I use my phone for marketing and sometimes I use pics from my s10 vs Sony Camera! I never had an issue with no prior Galaxy phones till this one, lets see how it does after these updates

From what I understand, people who upgraded from s10 to s20 regret their choices, while those who upgraded from an older version couldn't be happier. Makes sense!

I wouldn't say that. I have the S20 and my mom has the S10. Good thing about the 20 is the quality when zooming. It's far superior and the colors are more realistic. The problem when watching the video is that the 10 looks better but in reality it isn't portraying the colors as they really are. Trust me on this. I've seen both in person and used both. Also the S20 finally ditched the horrible useless curved display. So much better now.
@@jkidd7608 S10 is better than S20 i terms of image quality period. Not true to life color profile by the S10? Easy photo editing. Blown out and weak dynamic range? Are you able to edit them after capturing in JPEG? NO. Simple as that

@@presidentorange9051 "period" lol. my dad has the S20 and I have the S10 and the S20 is 100% better overall. The S10 does better in certain elements but overall the S20 is better. No one wants to mess around editing photos standing there trying to match the colours in front of you. What a load of hassle, why not just admit it does colour better? The S10 overexposes a lot more than the S20, especially in video and low light.
S20 gives it a more movie quality feel and I like that tbh
I recently upgraded to the S20 and for some reason I thought the S10 had a better camera. You just confirmed what I suspected. Although the main reason I upgraded was to have a 5G phone....I agree with everything you saying.

ilias m This is exynos version for Europe. Snapdragon is used in USA, China, Hong Kong. They have different back cover. E.g. US version of Galaxy s10 has “Galaxy s10” On the back instead of “DUOS”.
They add 10 numbers as if it is a huge shift and actually downgrade the camera hardware
You may have all the bells and whistles in a camera but poor focus will make a camera.look junk prducong poor photos. Great focus is one of the main fundamentals in making a great camera. Well done for video.
Thanks for the video. I was thinking about making the switch from the S10 to the S20 and almost pulled the trigger but decided against it since there just is not enough difference to justify the cost. There is an S21 right around the corner, maybe I'll go for that one instead.
Just a word on your English: Videography is not video graphy. The word is one word pronounced vide (ah) graphy as opposed to vide (oh) graphy. The O sound changes to ah when words are combined. Just thought I would share that knowledge Don't ask me why it does, I don't know. I think whomever made the rules for words thought ah sounds better verses oh or it is more pleasing to the ear. Lithography is another example lith(ah)graphy

I don't like such oversized phones so personally I am all for the S10. Eventually you can also consider the new S21 but the price difference is probably not worth it 😉
