Thank you for uploading this video. Mine is doing thr same thing except for sometimes my drive indicators will show on the dash. I wasn't sure if I needed a tcm. It works fine most days but every time I put it in reverse it shifts hard.

What was the problem the vehicle had to begin with . Cause I just bought Same car and stabilitrak is on , jerks on reverse. Backup cam comes on when it wants and the lights on shifter come on when they want. I might have same issue.

Bad wires, bad TCM, bad ECM, bad fuses, bad relays, bad grounds. elimination process. this is only for code u0101 no comms with TCM. a bad speed sensor or wheel hubs can give Stabil track ABS codes, i just got done diagnosing my 2014 lt 3.6. I have no continuity from the ECM to the rest of the circuit 2500/2501. i do from the other end until the ECM

Thank you for the video man. I have a 2014 with the same issue. Going to attempt to remove the old one this weekend and get it ready for the new one. It took me forever to trace the wires and make sure it wasn't just a loose or broken connection. All the wires are good and getting power like they should. I looked everywhere for a video on how to do this, and you just happened to upload this just in time. Did you have to drain the transmission fluid for this job? How long did it take you all together to get the old one out and put the new one in? Any pointers or advise you can give me to make things easier for me?

Yes you have to drain the fluid first. It’s a small drain plug too, not a big one. The tips would be to move as much wiring harness before you undo try to remove the plastic housing. It’s very difficult to get out. Also that sir took was a huge help since the space is very tight to work in. Take your time and flush the fluid twice after you change the tcm. The full capacity is close to 9 quarts I believe but you can change it out 5 quarts at a time. Take out 5 quarts, drive for a few weeks, then change out another 5qts.

How can I get the new tcm programmed

I bought a parts car, swapped the tcm, and it did not need a flash or program.

Thank you for your video. I live in Korea, and my car is also waiting to be replaced due to a TCM problem. I ordered a rebuild and I'm waiting for it to arrive.
When the TCM arrives, I plan to replace it myself, but I can't find information on the tightening torque for the transmission cover and TCM. If you know the tightening torque, can you share it with me? (Because a translator is used, the sentences may not sound natural. Please understand..)

Hello, I tightened them snug and then checked for leaks every day for a few days of driving. Also good idea to flush the transmission fluid. Around 5 qts in the bucket I caught the fluid with. They were not too difficult to loosen. I wouldn’t not tighten them with too much force. I don’t want to say a number and it be too tight but it couldn’t be more than 9-15lbs.

2 questions sir, if I replace Tcm with one from another impala same one, do I still have to get it programmed? If so where should I go or look to do that?

I actually bought a parts car and did not program it. Plug and play for me. I can’t guarantee this will be the same case for you. Sorry 😢 hope my video helped. Suscribe if you can 😃

Can you do this without draining the Transmission fluid? Or there's way around it?

I bought a parts car for $1500 and used a bunch of parts off it not just the TCM. Try eBay, they might have some used ones.
