My folks had 1994 Chevy Luminas and Corsicas, they were fun to learn for changing oil on but once the year 2000 came we ditched our chevys because the window buttons were broken and the cars were falling apart so quickly. Have had Hyundais and KIA products ever since and have had very minimal complaints about them.
I have the same issue with a 2011 impala that I bought in 2013. The warranty was limited since it was a pre own car with 62k miles already. Once I hit 80k miles I had the Engine power reduce message. It’s not fun and dangerous. It’s 2017 and I still have the vehicle with the same issue . I clean the throttle body and that helped. Last year I replaced the throttle body and now the problem came back.. now I have a 7 year old car with 114k miles... I’m sick of it but can’t afford a new car note. When I’m on the highway i either drive on the far left or far right side just so I can have access to the service road when this happens.
SInce yours is a 2011 you have the 3.5 L V-6 which is different from the 2012 with the 3.6 L V-6 (Which is the engine they use now for all Impala's Limited and New Body). I bet you have an issue with your throttle peddle not working properly. The 3.5 L is a standard injected model, no high pressure fuel pump.
The Carter Hour different engine but same problem. I made the mistake of continuing to drive and the car cut off. “ Engine disable” I couldn’t use my brakes and the key was stuck in the ignition. I stopped the car with my emergency brakes. I just cleaned the throttle again so it should be okay for a few more months
Hey John, they never had a fix for the problem. GM's fix was to keep replacing the pump and that the dealer said GM didn't know why they had pump failure.
@@TheCarterHour hey did you ever find the fix ? Mines is going through the same thing , took it to the dealership and had to change the oil pressure control valve, picked it up and it was driving rough , took it to my mechanic he said he’s gonna change the spark plugs so hopefully it runs after
@@carlossilva261 I have long since gotten rid of the car, but they had a big problem with the high pressure fuel pump that is on top of the engine and driven by the engine through a gear. They kept trying to tell me it was E85 causing the issue however the car is flex fuel and it was basically we don’t know why it’s breaking. Had this exact problem with my 2015 as well but never the 2012. The 2012 shared the same engine but the intake was slightly different.
I witness something like this before. On US 26 going from Portland to Beaverton, theirs a big hill. Some Chevy Cruze was going up and it just slowed down randomly. Thankfully the driver was able to pull over safely.
Happened to my son's girlfriend in the 2006 G6 she just bought days ago. She lost control and flipped four times. Thankfully she is okay. Looked up her VIN and it wasn't included in the steering assist recall. She needed a cheap car to get to work and college. I am so mad and believe it wasn't her fault.
That sucks. My coworker used to work for GM and he quit. He said they have the most inept, unskilled people working there. Also said there was rampant drug use (employees and supervisors doing cocaine, drinking, etc) and that all their "skilled trades" are low caliber people that got hired only to fill a quota. Good luck.
I am not sure at this time. To me I find that if the largest automobile company cannot get something right that has been a problem I would rather drive something that will not quit on me or possibly become a safety risk.
The last GM vehicle I owned was in 1985. I bought a Brand new Z-28 for $20K. The car was great for 3 months and then started having issues (much like yours) that the dealer couldn't solve. GM ended up buying the car back under the lemon law which was a nightmare within it's own. I have owned Ford and Toyota since then, while not perfect nor have the "latest and greatest" technology they are certainly much more reliable than GM. The dealership mechanics were much more knowledgeable and both companies were a pleasure to deal with when warranty issues came about, which was far and few. GM crams all this new untested, technology in cars and then doesn't know how to solve and issue when it fails.
An unfortunate thanks for the video. Two weeks ago I've experienced the "Engine Power is Reduced" signal. I was traveling 40 mph, when cabin bell rung, and my vehicle went from 40 to 10 mph, out of the blue. The car that was traveling behind me had to swerve to avoid rear ending me. I'm on the same level of pisstivity as you. I took my car to dealership the next day and was told that is was the "Accelerator Gas Pedal Sensor". Upon doing my own research, Ive came across plant of GM owners that went through the same situation. I asked the service representative, why is there not a recall for the problem, he gave me some cock & bull story on why it doesn't fall under a recall. I was like yeah whatever, but that question was above his pay grade. I just hope that no one has or will be hurt because of this problem.
@@carlossilva261 Yes, it was repaired. When I figured out that it was the Accelerator Pedal, I brought one from a Chevy Dealership and installed it myself. It took 5 minutes to install (easy as changing a light bulb) ,dealership wanted to charge $400. A few months after I've fixed the problem, I received a letter from Chevy regarding the problem with the Accelerator Gas Pedal, and to bring your vehicle in for a replacement unit. I sent in the receipt from my purchase and all of the other receipts that I've paid from getting diagnostics prior to find out that it was a problem with the gas pedal. I was reimbursed for everything, gas pedal & diagnostic charges.

It's not GM as a brand. I understand how an affect like this could result in a person believing that GM is a bad car company. Do they have their problems? Oh yes. Are they garbage? No. Personally I've owned 4 GM cars and they all lasted me a long time.

The Carter Hour Hi, I was reading on line it seems usually it’s some with the throttle body or some engine or transmission controls. What was the reason it happened in your 2015?

American car manufacturers build disposal vehicles, because once they break the first time, it never run the same.
Had a friend buy a Chevy trax and it broke down the 2nd day they owned it. Left stranded at grocery store.

GM should be boycotting by everyone. Chevy Impala 2009 transmission issues. $ 2,000.00 plus to replace only shift selonids if that's the problem.
