What I really like about your board is that your actual guitar tone isn’t buried by a ton of effects. Your drives sound great! I may have to copy your board as I make mine. I sold off all my pedals to start over.
I landed on this video in my search to find out how well Tonex takes pedals. No need to search anymore. Absolutely beautiful sounds coming out of your rig. Now to start building mine. Thanks for sharing.
I’ve always been a fan of small, well thought out boards. Your tone is great and your playing can shine through. We don’t need giant spaceships to have a versatile and fun array of tones at our disposal. But giant spaceship boards are fun too. To each their own lol.
Dude, that is a very nice, clean and great sounding board! The only thing I'd change is throw a big sky in there for more on the fly versatility with the reverb.
Matchless Laurel Canyon for the win! I use the POD GO patch (with modified settings) and the DC-30 with Tone Factor Bluesbreaker XR IR’s with modified settings in the HX stomp with analog drives, with the Halo and Julianna for stereo goodness in the fx loop. I highly recommend the SP compressor 😁 Man, your tone sounds great! That cloudburst though, that’s my next pedal that I’m getting soon. 🙌🏻 Thanks for sharing.
How you upgrade will greatly depend on where you want to be. In the mid 60s a big change was made in re-released albums. Many records were reprocessed so they could say "NOW IN STEREO". Stereo was then discovered in this way by the listening public. People really really loved stereo and it has stuck since then. LPs, then casettes, followed by CDs continued to be in stereo and everything since has been stereo. When you rush out to buy that new pedal make sure it's "NOW IN Stereo". Electro-Harmonix has the "Platform" check it out.
Very nice! Great video! I'm currently using an FM9 and miss the fun of pedals and tweaking knobs. I'm looking at exactly what you did here, I small board with just what I need. Worship shouldn't be so complicated! I'm probably going with an Iridium with boost/compressor in front. Thanks!
I love that optimist overdrive! I want to possibly replace my jhs double barrel but want to keep the morning glory. Thinking about all my options. Awesome board!
I found the BOSS ES-8 to be super compatible with 99banks (for me, 1per song), and 8+vol loops as patches per bank. Also the ES-8 Editor software is SUPER helpful. You need a USB/midi cable to get your computer and the ES-8 communicating. #LongLiveSundayTone
Sounds great. You should look into the Boss MS3 if you need a switcher. I have it along with a Strymon delay and cloudburst in the stereo output. It’s great because it has all these extra effects if you need it, three loops, and midi to control the cloudburst.
Great presentation. I have the Quad Cortex, but find it is not really doing it for me so I just got a PedalTrain medium board that I am putting together today. I will use my QC like you use the Tonex. I have the Cloudburst, the Keeley Halo, and the AT Super Phat (Andy Timmons new pedal from Keeley). I also have a Keeley Compressor pedal. I am essentially aiming to have my QC in kind of a set it and forget it and then have the other effects for the tangible tweaking of knobs. Kind of the best of both worlds there. I think I still need to get a tuner because I don't like the built in tuner on the QC. Probably add a few more things as I go along. I think the medium Pedaltrain is a good size but I was struck with how huge the metal case looks! I play at church most every week. I am not the worship leader, but mostly do fills and help carry the songs. You run your Timeline into the Cloudburst. In my case I would be running my Halo into the Cloudburst. I will probably reference your video a few times today! God bless you and all you love!
Wow, a worship pedalboard for only just over $2000. That's so inspiring. I also love your minimalist aesthetic of having only 4 guitars. How did you manage with so little equipment?
@sundaytone, I watched this video a couple of times where you talk about the different sizes of pedalboards you've gone through to simplify. But you never mention what size this pedalboard is. Or which model. Can you identify it, please?
@@sundaytone Thank you very much. This confirms what I was thinking about your board. I have the same one so this inspires me to build something similar. I like how versatile this relatively small board is.
I like how simple your board is, yet sounds big. I am currently building a smaller board, only with my needs, and not my wants. My current dilemma is whether I should give up on the Timeline and just go for the DIG. 90% of the time I use digital delay, so I guess it makes sense.
Yea I actually have recently moved off the TimeLine and started using the JET pedals Eternity because it can do all the sounds I would use in the timeline and it’s much smaller.
I've built an "affordaboard" for sunday worship, with most expensive pedal (at the moment) is a Flamma reverb. Ive actually gotten a lot of compliments on my tone, but i definitely have more expensive pedals i want to add. Gotta save up for those.
I'd be curious to see how much smaller you could go if you replaced those two bricks in the middle lol Could definitely save some space with the Tone X one now. Swap out the timeline with the Mako D1 maybe and you could probably fit the POG or another overdrive on there.
I just put up my dual delay preset for the TimeLine. That's what I use in a lot of these videos. I'll probably put up more in the future but here is that one for now: www.dropbox.com/scl/fo/6958icxamdavh9uzudpnd/h?rlkey=8kn4nnizedn5uyz1xw8rcpdsx&dl=0
Love the tones! I’m surprised you don’t have any noise gate? My issues with my dirt/ heavy gain pedals is they’re so noisy/hissy the moment i engaged it on.
Yea I mainly use single coil guitars so I am just used to managing the noise. I try to turn my volume pedal down in any sections I'm not playing. My volume is after the drives so it cuts that noise.
Let me know if you're interested in trying some samples of Elephant Foot Risers to help optimize the height of your pedals. Check out the Woodshed Compressor by Suhr - I also use a Wampler Ego and Keeley. Suhr is my favorite.
Hi, I am courious about a topic, would be glad if you or anyone could give opinion about it. You run now Reverb and delay after the ToneX and the reason is because you want them stereo and you could not put it before. Is this sound ok for you ?Is it not a compromise ? If you would have a chance to choose would you put delay & Reverb before ToneX ? What do you think about this ?
When I used the Strymon Iridium I ran my delay and reverb in front of it. I think I slightly prefer the sound of it in front but it isn’t a huge difference to me. Running them after sounds a little cleaner. They both sound good.
Great video and Tone - I just got a Tonex myself. I'm wondering do you just run a clean amp sound in the Tonex and let the pedals do all the drive tones? Im really interested to see your Tonex settings. Thanks so much and God Bless
Any advice for using the angry Charlie in church? Just got the boss angry driver and I’ve been trying to find a setting that will work as my main overdrive tone at church I normally stack drives but I’m finding the angry Charlie in the angry driver doesn’t really stack very well since it’s already a very saturated drive
wish your channel to succeed ! a question I have, where do you plug your board in , to achieve a good guitar sounding at home, cause the tonex is a amp simulator and plugging it into an amp don't seem to be a logic step. on the other hand, active monitors are not a good solution neither for good guitar sound. so how do you achieve your sound, for yourself in your room (not the recorded one) thank you.
