Josh is a great pedal maker, great historian, and super funny. But I think people don’t talk about how good and versatile of a guitarist he is. He plays clean, dirty, and emulates all kinds of different styles. Sure he’s not one of the greatest of all time or a virtuoso shredder. But the man can play. He could be a solid guitarist in almost any cover band or most touring bands. That is wild.

I bought the x4 version immediately when it came out and it's been on my studio since then, I use it daily. The perfect combo of nice/simple delays, 3 presets, tap tempo and a looper with simple functions. I literally use it in almost all my projects, including many experimental electronic music ones.

    Love the walk-through, super entertaining.
I think if anyone who shows you their "tone" and it isn't harsh, they haven't played with a live band before. If your tone is "full" and "huge", you probably play in front of your amp in a room alone a lot. It DOES sound great in your room, but everyone eventually has that low end excised for playing with a band, either through pedals or the amp or the mixing board.
When Josh is around 18:00 into the video and playing his base tone, stage 1, stage 2 and walking through it, it's HARSH and bright by itself. And I know it would sound awesome in a mix.

It's why, despite the cost, I prefer a pedalboard over a multifx. Just having all the knobs and switches visible at a glance is key to experimentation. I admit: I have some pedals with secondary functions and where some knobs and switches are labeled 'X', 'A' or '2' (Strymon, Walrus). But there it comes down to just sticking with the same pedals and learning them inside and out. There's no point in having 50 effects pedals if you barely use them.

Idea for a new pedal Josh:. Reverse Delay. It would sound great at the end of songs. Also, kudos to Don Carr for being so well versed in various musical styles and for conducting this interview! Also, I want to see Josh in a cowboy hat and maybe do a video with best pedals for Westerns.

Really awesome Interview and Don Carr was excellent, the trick is not to talk to much when you interview somebody, is to allow them to flow in the interview... he did a great job....and Josh is such a cool guy and again so funny!

Total epiphany when Josh says "I can take any drive pedal... I just make them all sound the same." I realized that I do that, too! I have purchased/tried so many different drive pedals looking for "my sound" and it's been there all along! Time to thin the herd! LOL!

It’s like you have to have almost everything to realize that you need almost nothing.
Sometimes it takes the better half of a lifetime to learn this.
Big fan of the basics approach to pedalboards here. There are millions of tones you can get out of only a few standard (not rare, not expensive, not eccentric) pedals.

    What a journey. 😍
    Insane stacking methodology.
JHS great partnership with sweat water.
Josh is a historian with his own pedal company.
Can't wait for another two years with a different pedalboard which still a same thing. I never noticed it until you stated it. Actually it's in all of us.
    Really love your music philosophy.
Thank you Professor Josh Scott. 🙏🏽

I have a whammy 4 and yes while it is huge, i love using it in chords more without the glitchyness, especially in ambient settings. If you get a delay infinite repeat going before it, you can play different notes using it. Ive crafted whole parts on my knees playing the whammy with one hand and messing with delay settings in the other. Its also really fun to run it in the effects loops of other pedals.
