    Earlier this week, Ukraine's government finally grasped reality and ordered its troops out of Crimea. But by the time of the evacuation order, Russia's military had already started booting Ukrainian troops from their bases or getting them to switch sides. VICE News correspondent Simon Ostrovsky met with Ukrainian Marines in Feodosia as they decided whether to remain loyal to their country or break their oath of allegiance to stay with their families in Crimea.

      🔽🔽The war has been going on in Donbass for 7 years. Children and civilians are dying. The whole world is silent. America doesn't give a damn about Ukraine. It is used as a training ground in the war against Russia. Meanwhile, America's and NATO's puppets, Ukraine, are telling the whole world that Russia wants to attack. So many lies just to drag the world into World War III. The Donbass is mainly inhabited by Russian-speaking people, Russians, whom the nationalists, Nazis of Ukraine hate. The problem is that legally Donbass (Donetsk and Lugansk) are part of Ukraine after the collapse of the USSR. The leaders of Ukraine recognized that they did not need the people of Donbass. They just don't want to lose territory.
      For 7 years of the war, not one leader of Ukraine has met with the inhabitants of this now disputed territory for the whole world. Ukraine has become bold because NATO is near Russia's borders. America defends Ukraine nationalistically by giving fake news to the world, and Russia will now defend Donbass.
      America and NATO hold the whole world for fools, giving false reality every day. And he wants to show the world of fools that NATO troops are near the border of Russia in order to protect Ukraine, painting himself as the defender of peace. The ideology of America and NATO was expressed in the words of Hillary Clinton when she was shown the Libyan leader Muaramma Gaddafi, tortured to death. She laughed and said "we come, we saw he diid".
      Russia will always help not only its Slavic peoples, but also everyone who is in danger because of America and NATO troops. America destroyed Yugoslavia. Does anyone remember this country? Look on the internet. She's gone. America destroyed Libya, climbed into Syria, and after 20 years in Afghanistan left nothing good. Tried to overthrow the rulers of Russia, ConVenezuela, the Philippines, Syria., Belarus ... And this is only recently. Russia will never kneel before America with its dollar as a weapon. Better to die standing than live on your knees But Putin will not allow the conflict to escalate and will keep the peace until the very end.
      Many people in the world, almost everyone, are mistaken for fools by presenting a false reality. Speaking black - white, white - black. Probably, some deserve it, as every day you are forcibly fed with false news...

All was going well between most of Ukranians and russians , untile the US had not intervened. USA spended more than 5 billions for "democracy" in Ukrains and now you all see result of this democracy. You can find on youtube vidios of investigasions when NATO traines was trining radical ukranians and guiding them to anti-russians idias. When Nuland talking about who will be a new leader of Ukrain. When USA and Poland politicians came to Maidan and screamed anti-russians slogans. But all time russians listening this and no answer. On Ukrain streets walking people from Right sector and creaming "russians on knifes" and it was befor Crimea.

      Well, I live in Kiev and the part about street walking people screaming "russians on knives" is completed bullshit.
      I don't support maidan and I never thought it's a good idea, but it never was anti-russian. Stop spreading your stupid propaganda here.
      Brothers don't rob brothers. And that's exactly what Russia did.
      The only real nazis(or at least chauvinists) is russians. They always made fun of ukrainians - their national symbols their language, their nation. They claim Ukraine is not even allowed to be called "country". It appears everywhere - on your TV, in pop-culture. What kind of brothers do that? Isn't it the fascism in which you accuse ukrainians?
      And now this... You completely destroyed good neighborly relations between owr nations and lost respect among ukrainians. I'm half-russian myself but now I really hate you for your agressive anti-ukrainian propaganda and annexation of Crimea.
      If war will be officialy declared I will take my machinegun unhesitatingly and I will be GLAD if I manage to kill at least one russian. If someone told me this few month ago I would think he's crazy.

They knew their government messed up and did not support them. They knew that Crimea always wants to rejoin Russia. They knew things could have been 10x worse but Russia handled it peacefully. @@Spabsa Wrong. Crimea was an autonomous region with its own parliament towards the end of the Soviet Union and then in independent Ukraine. It previously held referendums twice in 1991 and 1994, more than 70% voted in favor of leaving Ukrainian SSR for RSFSR and later for leaving Ukraine itself in '94. 2014 was the 3rd time, same result. In 1993 during Russian constitutional crisis Kiev deployed their own little green men to surround Sevastopol but later backed down under Western pressure. Crimea ending up in Ukraine was due to the unprecedented geopolitical clusterfuck that was dissolution of the USSR. It was symbolically transferred to Soviet Ukrainian demarcation in the 1950s which didn't matter when it was all the same country so it was left alone. Like gerrymandering a congressional district in the US. That action wasn't even legitimate under Soviet law if you want to technically mention "approval" as it was the only reason why the Crimean ASSR found itself in newly independent Ukraine which included the Russian federal subject of Sevastopol. For Kiev it was convenient to use the Ukrainian SSR's borders with Crimea to take advantage of the chaos back then. Crimea has belonged to Russia for centuries. The naval base has been in Sevastopol for centuries. It was "in" Ukraine proper for 22 years against the will of the people. The West knows this which is why they didn't do more in 2014. Majority self determination by the people (direct democracy) isn't a one way street limited to Western aligned countries or when the result suits it. Nation state aspiring Ukrainians should be thrilled to rid themselves of such a large Russian population. That's 3 million less Russians closer to their goal. Can't have it both ways!!

Lyashko is a bastard who should be imprisoned with the rest of the Ukrainian legalized mafia, him showing up is none other than PR move, regardless of what he said. I have family in Ukraine and in Russia, it’s crazy to think that these two courtiers should be divided, politics aside we are brothers and sisters by blood and by marriage, regular people don’t want to fight, I don’t know ANYBODY personally who does. I think that Ukraine and Russia should remain as 2 countries, which support each other. A lot of things are fabricated and antagonize so that politicians don’t answer real questions… it’s easy to do dirty deeds while there is divergence.

    I think Ukraine handled this situation very well. Considering an invasion, they were able to keep their cool and act accordingly. Had they chose another route, there would've been full out war. The government also had some blame to this, but Russia chose a time when Ukrainian government was in shambles.

      KeenanKaos Check the meaning of "invasion". It suits very well what Russia did. The government in Kiev is illegitimate, that is why it is called an interim government. They aren't mean't to stay in power.
      What happened in Crimea was also illegal. The "true" presidents request for help from Russia was signed March 1st. The "green martian" men in expensive military gear and weapons, with supermarket bought helicopters and armored humvees and trucks were already on the streets with loaded magazines before that.

By 2022 they resurfaced defending Mariupol alongside Azov. Certainly some of the people you see here are still alive, even if they are POW.

    I respect your work Ostrovsky, real views, opinions and interviews, but I encourage you to be more objective and present the crimean/russian side a little more to balance it out. You are a jewish american journalist after all and I understand that your ideology/views are could be antirussian, but you speak russian, you come to prorussian lands, you should have more understanding of the situation

      Joey Clavette and can you enlighten me about Russia being agressor? What is the evidence that you reference to?

    • @daveande6134
      @daveande6134 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      military bases were already "occupied" by russians. The additional military was sent strictly to keep peace. You wont understand it anyways because you have been too much brainwashed. Either way, what happened with Crimea was a better choice than if Russians didnt step in-war even worse than Donbass. And by the way the military presence was welcomed by Crimeans, again this is something they will never tell you

    • @daveande6134
      @daveande6134 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      dude, again you have no clue. You are going to sit here and tell me that 90 percent is unrealistic. If you claim you have some superior logic abilities for an average Joe, than please analyze deeper. If you dont know history and events leading up to the "annexation" of Crimea than you need to brush up on it. It would be helpful if you actually traveled there and seen it for yourself. Just because you have never seen a vote in the western hemisphere with overwhelming majority doesnt mean that those dont exist. People in crimea realized exactly what was happening with Ukraine, and unlike you watching this unfold from distance, they have to live with it every day-they knew to vote and 90 % turnout is exactly what i came to be. Go to Crimea and ask. Seek and you shall find!

    • @daveande6134
      @daveande6134 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      too much to write dude, but seriously I am pretty sure russian solodiers are in donbass however they failed to produce any ecidence of that, its all panic and no facts. Even though Crimea is 60% russian ethnic, that doesnt mean that the 40% do not support Crimea being part of russia. Ukrainina and Russians are all one people and there are tons of ukrainian last names in russia and tons of russian last names in ukraine, should we call them ethnic russians or ethnic ukrainians? In russia itself only about half of the population is ethnic russioans or pure russians, all the rest are a big huge mix, tatars, ukrainians, belarusians, koreans, bashkirs, udmurts, buryats. Should I say they dont support the country they live in?
      Althou RT is being sponsored by Kremlin, doesnt mean much. US news are sponsored by corporations that have their definite goals. So whats the dirrefence? Because US is ran by corporations and Russia is ran by government. Different systems and you should not compare the 2. Any russian media would be judged, but its not because they lie or try to instill propaganda, its because they have different mentality, different views, values, etc. Its hard to understand if you dont know history, culture, language.

    4:54 Q: "What do you think about what's happened in Crimea?" A: "I think the Ukrainian government is partially responsible, and the Russians took advantage of this moment. It's not a secret that Crimea has always been pro-Russian. They've been dreaming of joining Russia for a long time." - got it on the spot. Except factoring in Ukraine had a deal with Russia regarding that base out to 2047, and the junta in Kiev was hostile to deals with Russia. (And it was a US-backed junta)

    Once that reporter said that Russian special forces were in Ukraine I knew that they were probably Spetsnaz FSB or MVD Troops because in English spetsnaz means special forces so the teams that I just named (FSB,MVD) they were probably the units that raided that Ukrainian marine base.
