    He's complaining about highway handling in a work truck package with all terrain tires. Buddy, that truck was built to work, not take turns at high speeds. You have to take into consideration the purpose of the build. Also, those tires are going to slow 0-60 time and reduce mpg overall. Your mpg numbers are whack! You need to drive much farther than you did and actually hand jam the numbers. The mpg gauge s on most vehicles are not accurate. Who includes a WOT run into the avg mpg? Anyone worried about mpg won't do wot pulls.

      I would think the dealers lending him these does NOT want hundreds and hundreds of miles put on them so long range MPG is off the table. Channels you see doing those are getting press vehicles on short and long-term loans from the manufacturer OR purchasing them as you see TFL do. While a 0-60 is not the most essential test it does give you somewhat of an idea on acceleration which is useful knowledge when you need to use short on ramps, evasive maneuvers or simply passing. What is your YT channel where I can see perfect comparisons? Ya, I thought so.

    JB - I would like to see you drive these trucks farther to get a better idea of MPG. I would exclude the WOT from the MPG portion as well.

    Great review, I chose the 6.8 on my new F-250 Supercab primarily because of no Cylinder Deactivation and Auto Start Stop on that engine.
    That sold me right there,picking it up next week. Subscribed.

    That XL has the offroad package with the 17s and 33" Duratracs. As you mentioned, that would contribute to the squishy feel and mpg loss.
    I'd love your impressions of the STX with the 6.8L and 18s with ATs and see how that compares. I was all for the 7.3L, but the more I see reviews of the 6.8L, it seems it would be a good choice to stick with and save the $2,500 (CAD) upgrade to the 7.3L. That pays for half of the STX package, which to me is a must-have on the XL.

    Nice video. I’ve been saying this ever since Ford announced the 6.8 and I think you confirmed it in that it’s going to feel peppier than the 7.3 because it has a much shorter stroke. Same bore, but much shorter stroke. So it will by default rev quicker. Its power band will be different too. Not as good low speed torque but better mid range and a much better top end.
    Some of that could have been from the 10R100 because that’s the F150 10 speed but I’m willing to bet most of it is from the significantly shorter stroke of the 6.8. It probably won’t feel as good towing but empty driving it’s going to be a lot more responsive and feel quicker than a 7.3.

      The f150 uses a 10r80, the 6.8 has 10r100 and 7.3 gets 10r140. The numbers are newton-meters of torque. So each one is rates at about 590/700/1000 lb/ft of torque respectively.

    Love your reviews JB. Seems like trimming some weight with a smaller displacement engine could be something that should save you some cash at the pump. Does the 7.3 really get better MPG ?Anyway, you always stimulate my thoughts.

      I think the 6.8 and 7.3 use the same block, just shorter stroke on the 6.8. So I don't think there is a Weight savings.

    • @user-hn5mr4vc9y
      @user-hn5mr4vc9y 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The smaller displacement is going to consume more fuel under tow conditions, it will work harder. The differences would more show with the gear ratios and how heavy your foot is

    And here I am with the old 6.4 Hemi lol. In the next 3 years I'll be going uo to a 3500srw truck. It's going to be the 6.4 if they're still making them. The 6.4 and that 8 spd transmission is bad ass. I tow over 10k lbs a lot. It's mostly a 5th wheel now.

      @@SliderFury1 imo I don't think the big gas engines will go away. They're only getting better and are a much better option. I think Ram will either update the Hemi or come out with something new.

    • @SliderFury1
      @SliderFury1 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Mattman2500oh I agree, I just meant the 6.4 Hemi specifically, there's talk that an "H.O". Hurricane is in the works to replace it. Also rumors that Cummins would do a big block gas for Ram (but who knows now with that big lawsuit they got slapped with). I just think if you want that specific combo (6.4 Hemi/ZF Trans), you might not have much time.
      Or I could be totally wrong lol this market/industry is so insane right now. But, the 5.7 is getting put away now so…

      The truck isn't accurate, I think it is only 2wd. If he has smaller tires that will help. The truck isn't lifted so that helps. All in all tho 12 seems pretty good.

    MPG? 😅😅😅😅😅BWAH-HA-HA-HA.......
    That's gott be the most childish mental mindset evah.....
    My 6.2l F250 gets 15-ish.
    Tundra, before that never got better than 14.7.
    Again, drive a work truck and expect Princess mpg and handling 😅😅😅😅.....
    And the engine is not even broke in. Of course even at 29k mpgs never improved on mine.
    I tow 11.2k during shredding seasons and the 6.2l is paid for!
    😅😅😅
    I'm content with mine. To old to care about bragging on toys.
