Excellent documentation of the damage, including critical areas. Can visualize the intensity of the impact. It’s amazing how little structural damage was done to the trailer compared to the overwhelming devastation the work truck incurred.
Excellent observation. At approximately 4:35, if you zoom in you can see that the smaller trucks "main frame" avoided the impact... which made a wreck that was already gonna be bad, even worse. Since it missed the frame rail, the front drivers side suspension folded itself and the frame into a pretzel before the sturdy semi trailer turned the new aluminum sheet metal cab into shrapnel. It is a very sad scene.... driving a motor vehicle can be alot more dangerous than most think.... we are all 1 bad driver away from being hurt in an auto wreck.
Glad the Semi driver was okay. The surviving person that was ejected was lucky and definitely had a hand watching over. Condolences to the family of the deceased driver.
@2:08 Looks like the Semi driver had his hazard triangles out. Evidently The F-350 ran over at least one of them carrying it along. @ 2:17 is Hazard triangle box . @7:05 the semi was pushed forward about four feet and to the left one feet.
we were close with him- autopsy showed it was medical. probably cardiac arrest, passing out at the wheel, going off and hitting the semi. he was such an incredible person
@@nicoleabrahamson1883At highway speeds there might have only been one or two seconds from the rumble strip to impact That is just not enough time to react if the driver was asleep.
The sheet metal, body(cab), and plastic parts took the brunt. The fords chassis, suspension, and drive train all continued under the trailer until it contacted the trailer tandems. The utility box also continued compressing the cab into the back of the trailer. Plus, Likely had allot of weight on the back of the utility box.
I'm still trying to figure out how this accident happened. First, that F-350 had to be going a decent clip, to cause that kind of damage. Second, I saw no skid marks indicating the driver of the F-350 saw the semi, let alone tried to avoid hitting it. Third, the broken down semi had his cones out, we know this, because they're all caught up in the chassis of the F-350. Fourth, the ANGLE needed, in order to hit that semi exactly as he did? Would make far more sense if it came from that frontage road/on-ramp, than from on the freeway. To impact the way it did, it had to be ALL the way over to the right.. but even further than the guardrail would be, then he tried to swerve between the semi, and the end of the guardrail, in order to impact what LOOKED to be dead-on drivers side, yet a bit ... what? Kitty-corner to the rear of the semi, in order to SPLIT THE FRAME, which was just insane. Unfortunately, with the amount of damage, and my eyes not what they once used to be, that's all I could really make out from what we saw. Did this guy fall asleep? Have a medical issue? I'd sure like to know what the passenger has to say. He's very lucky to be alive today. Crazy.

Well, it looks like the semi-truck had their road triangles out on the roadway like they should, per the federal regulations from the FMCSA, because you could see how they got scooped up and busted by the Ford. You have to deploy them if you're going to be on the shoulder for more than 10 minutes so, the semi-truck must have been waiting for roadside service for either engine trouble or tire trouble when the Ford crashed into the back of the trailer.
Apparently the semi truck had put out triangles. The pickup truck apparently scooped them up just before crashing into the semi trailer. The Ford F 350 was apparently traveling at a very high rate of speed parts of the left side of the truck cab was fuzed to the right side of the semi trailer. Then during Impact rolled the F 350 over scattering the ladders on top of the utility bed. The passenger was probably sleeping and the driver went to sleep after he had been driving since before daylight by a few hours then when the sun came up and the driver fell asleep when the sun came into the cab. Driving at night then when the sun comes up it is absolutely a must to stop and sleep. The Hyundai semi trailer is absolutely very rugged. He wasn't parked, he was broke down and had the hazard triangles out, but the Ford F350 demolished them after he run them over and hit the tractor trailer. I said it probably was a blessing that tractor trailer was broken down, because if the F350 would've hit a family or a bus full of kids, there would be a lot more deaths than that one driver. I'm not going to speculate what happened to the Ford F350 driver, but if I had to guess, it was driver fatigue.
R.I.P..... They'll pin this on the semi-truck driver. They'll say he had one of those giant ACME magnets from the old Roadrunner show that he activated, drawing the ill-fated Ford to its demise.
18 wheeler probably pulled over to sleep or take his 30 minute break per eld regulation. There needs to be more parking for commercial trucks and the eld needs to be abolished.
Trucker breaks down. Put out of refhector's trucker standing outside the truck on the driver. 's side service truck comes along clips. The trailer takes out the service truck driver injured the passenger. Injures, the truck driver standing on the side of the road. You can tell by the reflectors underneath the service truck And no damages to the trucker's cab, which means the truck driver was outside the cab
That looked like a very high energy crash. Interesting that the impact point was on the side of the trailer furthest from the road. I wonder what caused the F350 to be that far out of lane.
It amazes me how many times a vehicle slams into another vehicle on the side of the road! I told my dad the other day about this because he wanted to pull over on the freeway and grab a fresh dead buck (deer). He was so adamant he was gonna get it on the way back. I kept arguing with him NO! Thankfully the deer was taken by someone else.
Trucks today are tinfoil and bubblegummed together. While cab and nose are just light aluminum. The frames are significantly lighter as well, made with cheap scrap steel with a thin single wall open channel. They don't make trucks like they used too. They just crumble up like a soda can.

@@brianlanders8028 for example, when the "new" 2015 F150 debuted everyone made jokes about the aluminum, or how it melts in fire, blah blah blah. But in reality, in 2015 there was only ONE 5 star rated truck for crash protection and rollover protection, and that was the F150.

Good Lord! That utility truck had to have moving at a pretty high rate of speed! The description says the driver of the semi is in the hospital in stable condition. That's insane considering he was about 60 feet in front of the point of impact.
If you look at 19:20. The impact pushed the semi truck forward about 10ft and the trucks brakes were set. So that's a very big impact for it to move that semi forward like that. More than likely the driver wasn't buckled in, due the truck being stopped. So I could see how he got injured.
@@Corky3D, that makes sense. It APPEARS there isn't a seal on the trailer's door, so there's a good chance the trailer was empty which would definitely amplify the impact.
My feeling is the F-350 hit the inner wall, then over corrected , crossed over all lanes of traffic, and hit the semi, which just happened to be parked there.

Actually it might have been a blessing the semi tractor trailer was sitting there, because as fast as the Ford F350 was going and if it hit someone else, like a family or a bus of children, this accident would've been far worse. There’s a Love’s travel center in Cleveland TX. just north of the accident…Truck was going north so probably the next exit…you see the “RV Station” on the other side of the highway as reference. Makes me wonder why the trucker pulled over there, and not the truck stop; the officer at the beginning didn’t mention the truck was broken down, just parked.
the parked truck was broken down, he had safety triangle reflectors out behind him, you see them under the truck that hit him. it wasn't a flat tire or he would have just kept going, he has 17 more. he may have been trying to make it to that truck stop to a mechanic and it couldn't continue.
Air brakes have a safety override if pressure in the air system drops below a certain level. Once that minimum pressure is lost, the brakes lock up, nothing you can do to override it. If you see your pressure going down, get off the road safely right then! Regardless of the issue, trucks quit running just like cars with little warning, and they don't coast very far. I'm sure the truck driver would've much preferred making it to the truck stop for coffee and breakfast while waiting for repairs.
Over a thousand miles from home to do a job. The lack of skid marks tells me the driver fell asleep and just woke up in Heaven. If this was the son of the family K.A.R. Co, it's very sad because they just lost their dad a couple years ago. So sorry to the families involved!

Seatbelt looked ripped? Wonder if they got damaged in impact causing them to be ejected? Or if they weren’t wearing seatbelts anyway. RIP
Wouldn't matter if they wore their seatbelt as one end is attached to the part that got ripped off
That looked like a seat belt cheater to me.
@@wolfman515 could be, but the torn seatbelt suggests they could have been wearing them. With the top of the cab and the B pillar ripped off it would have taken the seatbelt with it as it threads through the thing bolted to the top of the pillar on the way to the retractor bolted to the bottom of the pillar.
@@wolfman515 seatbelt or no seatbelt i think the result of this crash would have been the same anyway
If you would notice they showed that the lock was still in place of the seat belt. The seat belt was ripped in half from the impact. And with that damage the driver would have died instantly as it was his side that hit the trailer straight in to it. The frame of Semi Trailers are made of steel and our vehicles are now made of aluminum. Duh!!!
the 3 Triangles was the proof that the trucker wasn't at fault it was the driver in the Ford truck that crashed into it.
This didn't have to happen!! Prayers to all involved and RIP who lost their lives!!❤❤❤
I have to wonder if the skid marks in the passing lane were from a hard brake check and the white truck swerved to keep from plowing them, only to catch the corner of the parked rig. RIP driver . . .
The cab of the work truck stuck to the trailer
That indicates a hard hit, for sure
True sacrifice to be on the road these days My deepest condolences to the driver and family
Cab and floor/chassis separated snapping the shoulder belt.
I was wondering if that would have caused the failure of the seatbelts or if they failed before?
The seat belts likely failed as the roof came off the truck.
Driver's today do not stay Focused!!!I I have driven all over Europe and Had some pretty close calls!l Definitely have o stay off Your phones and keep aware of Your Surrounding 360 decrees!! God Help us!! Too many people love to speed to get no where fast!! So sad!!
There is a rumble strip, this was way more than a distraction to go that far past the strip. Odds are the driver fell asleep or had a medical issue.
People have got to start paying attention when they are driving.
I saw the title CLEVELAND and assumed it is the BIG CLEVELAND to the North of me in Ohio. Thought it was strange. No litter, no urban folks milling around and no graffiti. I realized then. This not be Cleveland, OH...
poor semi driver..idiot ford driver at least the passenger survived
I'll say one thing if it wasn't for the truck being in that spot there would have more than likely been a lot of fatalities
I was thinking the same thing
Everyone always blames the trucks for causing the accidents but the fact is 80% of truck accidents are caused buy distracted drivers in cars
I pray they DONT try to fault the truck driver for parking on the Side of the Highway..
Prayers for all families members & driver
Unlikely as it’s legal to use the shoulder. This is all fault of the f350. Most likely they fell asleep
Probably won't be found at fault, but he will have a fatal accident on his CSA record and cause his insurance to go up. Some companies would also not hire you if they see that on your record. Even though you're not at fault.
People find it to easy blaming the semi trucks. Semis are damn if they do & damned if they don’t.
18 wheeler probably pulled over to sleep or take his 30 minute break per eld regulation. There needs to be more parking for commercial trucks and the eld needs to be abolished.
That's right ELD'S GOTTA GO just imagine what would happen if the speed limiters become law get the government out of the trucking industry !!!
When there's a loss of life in any situation its sad to me. God help this dear family. 😢🙏🙏😊
I never meant to hit the smilie emoji
Trucker breaks down. Put out of refhector's trucker standing outside the truck on the driver. 's side service truck comes along clips. The trailer takes out the service truck driver injured the passenger. Injures, the truck driver standing on the side of the road. You can tell by the reflectors underneath the service truck And no damages to the trucker's cab, which means the truck driver was outside the cab
Dam how fast was he going ...
Fell asleep at the wheel , I. Bet
It's like the hazard signs act like a beacon for drivers who are impaired or are falling asleep.
I’m sure glad that at least the traffic has slowed right down to make it safe for first responders….NOT!🙄
Looks like there may have been an element of speed, by the F350. Sad, for all involved. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 for the survivors and families.
Man that is horrible.
Trucks today are tinfoil and bubblegummed together. While cab and nose are just light aluminum. The frames are significantly lighter as well, made with cheap scrap steel with a thin single wall open channel. They don't make trucks like they used too. They just crumble up like a soda can.
I don’t think your taking in Acct for the workbed, it’s contents, weight. Speeding prob didn’t help the matter.
@@treydogg77
True, but also Ford's making the entire cab and bed made of aluminum doesn't help much. Soon all the truck manufacturers will follow, if not already.
@@thomasrodriguez7803 this utility truck was older than 2017 which meant it still used the steel body . You can see the old style flapper door handles at 19:47
@@VladimirBlarp: You're right, but he does make a good point about the newer pickup trucks made out of aluminum. My 2006 Dodge pickup wouldn't be a rust bucket if the cab and bed was aluminum, I only hope the thickness of the aluminum would add strength to the newer pickups and cars.
There's a camera on that pole, ahead of the accident, on the right side......
I’m fortunate be alive, metal back with 18 wheeler clipping my sports car and flipping me 21/2 football fields. Not much left of my car only spot where I was sitting. Prayers to all family and deceased.
The truck drivers logs will be correct to the second because Hub Group runs top notch logs they watch all of there drivers like a hawk
Question what was the trailer park on side for?
Good Lord! That utility truck had to have moving at a pretty high rate of speed! The description says the driver of the semi is in the hospital in stable condition. That's insane considering he was about 60 feet in front of the point of impact.
He was likely outside.
@@carlos64030you can see a metal seal at 15:49
Sending prayers 🙏🙏
Wonder if the scuff mark on the jersey wall @ 9:22 & 9:29 had anything to do with this incident
My feeling is the F-350 hit the inner wall, then over corrected , crossed over all lanes of traffic, and hit the semi, which just happened to be parked there.
Please include closed captioning Scott when you download to TH-cam so deaf people can appreciate your post. Thank you
There appear to be businesses facing the crash site. Perhaps they have cameras outside that might have caught the accident. My condolences to the families of the people in the crash.
Looks like the slow vehicles may have been hogging the overtaking lane.
So sad!
No Doubt Distracted driving!!!
I had two accidents in a Year
After retireing
42 years driving semi Trucks
Nothing ever happened in Those years
Nothing not even a Moving violation
Even 2 million miles of safe driving award.
I can almost guarantee you that the Truck Driver will be blamed and sued for causing this accident, even though it is crystal clear that the truck and trailer were way off of the highway and the pickup truck driver struck the trailer on the right corner. I feel sorry for everyone involved.
Actually it might have been a blessing the semi tractor trailer was sitting there, because as fast as the Ford F350 was going and if it hit someone else, like a family or a bus of children, this accident would've been far worse. I'm just considering what could have happened if the semi wasn't there.
Hubgroup have cameras, they're are good, I bet they got the video already
Crazy we came upon this accident right after it happened. We prayed for their souls when we saw the body. Prayerfully the survivors make a full recovery.
that truck had to be going really fast, wonder why he lost control, maybe a health issue.
That truck had t be hauling ass to get destroyed like that ! My condolences to this family who lost their loved one and please slow down and pay attention this goes out to everyone
My goodness. R.I.P.
My son drives an 18 wheeler and he said that he is constantly on guard because of 4 wheelers doing dangerous crap. He said he can't be distracted for a second!!
Rest in peace to thef350 driver prayers for a speedy recovery to the other people
No CLOSED CAPTIONS
WHAT STATE IS THIS.
Texas
Would really like to know what the hell happen ????😮
How amazing the passengers survived how fast was he going to move that semi 5 feet forward
Awful, just AWFUL!!! My prayers and condolences to the family of the deceased, and prayers for recovery of all surviving.
Poor guy, rip. What bad timing to have a medical emergency 😢
Just a question WHY was the semi on the shoulder ? sleeping or peeing ?
There’s a Love’s travel center in Cleveland TX. just north of the accident…Truck was going north so probably the next exit…you see the “RV Station” on the other side of the highway as reference. Makes me wonder why the trucker pulled over there, and not the truck stop; the officer at the beginning didn’t mention the truck was broken down, just parked.
Electronic logs... when you are out of hours you have to park you can't drive another 10 minutes and fudge it like a paper log book.
@@juliogonzo2718 was less than 5 minutes from the truck stop, 7:47 am., and the truck doesn’t have a sleeper, so I doubt he was out of time
The semi might of had flat tire
the parked truck was broken down, he had safety triangle reflectors out behind him, you see them under the truck that hit him.
it wasn't a flat tire or he would have just kept going, he has 17 more.
he may have been trying to make it to that truck stop to a mechanic and it couldn't continue.
The one seat had its seatbelt buckled
The semi's tire marks shows that it was shoved foward from the force of impact. That utility truck was booking it
Over a thousand miles from home to do a job.
The lack of skid marks tells me the driver fell asleep and just woke up in Heaven.
If this was the son of the family K.A.R. Co, it's very sad because they just lost their dad a couple years ago.
So sorry to the families involved!
Similar to the 57 ford/consolidated freightways crash in the 60s driver ed film Wheels of Tragedy.
How the hell do you hit the far right side of a truck pulled over to the right side of the road? He almost missed the truck for Christ’s sake.
So very sad right here at the holidays. Prayers for the families.
Those ladders look remarkable straight
Dang. RIP
Brian landers. Look carefully at the tires.
