Wow i actually thought someone had video of our accident. We were semi drivers. I was in the sleeper while hubby was driving. He was going down hwy 59 in Texas on our way for a early morning delivering in Houston. He had a brand new Jeep Cherokee hit him head on. I came flying out of the bunk. The microwave and everything else fell off and hit our dog ( he’s was ok thank god ) my husband and all of the emergency team thought the guy in the car was dead but he was just actually passed out drunk. He had no lic no in’s. And the car was on the repo list. My husband will never be able to drive semi again cause one more accident in semi or car and he will be paralyzed from the neck down. What upset me the most the ent was rude to us. I guess she thought it was our fault. Ppl always do when something like this happens 🤬 If you’re going to drink get a taxi or do it at home. It took one drunk to ruin our lives

Sorry for you and your husband's bad experience. That's one stupid EMT to assume it was the trucker's fault vs the fourwheeler. I'm a retired driver living in the Philippines. An on the job injury took me out of the truck in June 2021. After a year of workman's comp, I retired and moved here. Trucking like America is becoming undoable nowadays.

    • @lewislambert4590
      @lewislambert4590 ปีที่แล้ว +8

No doubt. When I saw those the first thing I thought was somebody was really lucky. People just don't realize how heavy those are and I am kind of surprised he had two. Usually I see only one.

My company had a shipment of coils identical to the ones on that truck being delivered to our plant one time. One of the binders broke and the coil came off the trailer in a curve onto incoming traffic on a two lane road. It landed on a car crushed it flat including the person in it , destroyed the guardrail and continued for another 60’ into a cow pasture. Very bad situation, several people including the truck driver, first responders, and locals who drove up on the scene were traumatized. 😞

    • @genefogarty5395
      @genefogarty5395 ปีที่แล้ว

Yeah, those were thin ga. 20-22k lbs per coil if he was at legal 80k gross. That's an awful lot of kinetic energy in such a mass that happens to be shaped like a wheel. No headache rack made is stopping that from going through the cab and flattening everything in its path. I saw a Hamm vibratory roller go over the cab of the truck carrying it when its binders failed in an accident and it wasn't something I'll ever forget. I wish I'd never seen it. @@treydogg77

I hope people will keep this in mind. If you wonder why an officer is already in a bad mood when you're stopped for some seemingly minor traffic violation, just remember they frequently are the first on scene for horrific road accidents.
They have to check for a pulse, give CPR to victims, stop the bleeds, apply pressure or a tourniquet.
They have to search along the shoulder and in the weeds to look for additional victims that may have been ejected. They're required to search the weeds for mangled body parts, infants, pregnant women, children, fathers.
And then they are tasked to knock on the doors of the victims' families to give them the worst news they will ever receive.
And Finally, they have to finish their shift, and the next day, do it all over again.
I've had a fair amount of Emergency response training, and was married to a fire fighter. She was an EMT and drove an ambulance a lot. I don't know how they do that day after day for years at a stretch.

In my experience, the first on the scene are other motorists and bystanders and the victim's lives are in their hands for 10 or so mins until professionals arrive. From my involvement, a group of strangers with little training in crash rescue, makeshift equipment and no safety gear for themselves again hold the line during that critical ten minutes. - You are correct the cops' traffic fire and ambos see it all the time and have to follow through.

As a Paramedic in rural Iowa for several years, I saw things I wish I never did but also did a lot of things I am proud to remember. Unfortunately, too many sad memories and sleepless hours outweighed the joy of serving the community. So I left the job I once dearly loved. It takes special people to do that job! I’ve been a firefighter 17 years and I know exactly what you mean. I’ve lost a lot of the love I once had for the fire service not because of the service itself Lord know I love being a firefighter but the hellish things I have seen….and the ones with kids are absolutely the worst…the nightmares the anger the loss of love for even my hobbies never wanting to be around anybody….there’s more darker stuff but the point is I understand and not many people do…but that’s only from the fire side you as a medic absolutely saw more than I ever will..I truly hope you can find a way to get through it and find more happiness. I’m stubborn I have been trying to fight through all of this hell because I love being a firefighter that much. I’ve had times where 3 shifts in a row we had at least one fatal mvc each shift and it wasn’t just a simple doa each one was messy and raw and just….all 3 involved brain matter to give you an idea of the severity….I took time off after that last fatal shift because I knew I couldn’t do it again right away. Didn’t help much. Anyway I apologize for the rant. I will pray for you and those like you. It really does take a certain kind of person to be a paramedic or EMT or firefighter or police officer….but we are also human. God bless you and thank you for all of your sacrifices to keep pushing through to help the ones who needed help the most. Nobody realizes that medics are the ones who really work on you when you’re in the he worst way. You guys are like doctors patrolling the streets.

I used to own a 3000GT Twin Turbo.. I would have never been able to identify this one until I saw the rear clip and badging.. I've been around a lot of wrecks over the years.. The fact that this young lady survived this wreck's impact is simply stunning to me.. Not sure if she made it out of the hospital, though I hope she did.. VERY glad the truck driver wasn't seriously hurt... I'll never understand how people get so very plaster that they enter the freeway backwards and then have oncoming headlights (if at night) and don't think something is very wrong... Yet, I've seen it in person more than once... Not doubt this trucker did all he could do to create space... Definitely NOT his job, but as a pro driver (racing, being a jaggoff as a kid well before, and rigs).. The best you can do is push it to the edge dealing with impossible situations.. That is the huge difference in pro drivers of all kinds and the random drunk or distracted drivers who will freeze, close their eyes before impact.. I don't blink in these situations.. I'm sure most of the truckers who have been around for a while do not either..

If you read these comments I want you to know that I am so glad you're all ok in the truck. My son drives an 18 wheeler in Texas and I pray for his safety all the time. I know what a tough job you drivers have and the dangerous 4 wheeler drivers you have to deal with. People please respect these drivers of these big trucks and remember that 99 percent of everything you need for daily living is brought to you by these big trucks ! There's so many crazy people on the highways they have to deal with that's stressful every day for them, plus they deal with having to be away from their families so they can earn a living and bring the food and other things we need to our city stores and our mail. So instead of complaining about them being on the roads how about appreciating them and the sacrifice they make of their families and to deliver our necessary things to us. God bless all the 18 wheeler drivers and their families. God bless everyone who appreciates them as well. I'm sorry that the person driving the suv in the accident didn't fare as well as the people and dog in the truck. It's terrible that some people make terrible choices.

@@sherylstory7809 Immediately lying saying she was a Passenger In the vehicle is not a typical response to someone's brain "not working well" after going through something like that. It's a disgusting attempt to try to avoid what was probably a 2nd, 3rd, 4th ??? ....DUI. people with head/brain injuries are typically agitated & combative. If asked direct questions they may be confused. Being confused & flat out lying are totally different. If she was aware enough to understand she was in a very severe car accident & answering questions about it, she sure as heck wasn't speaking out of confusion about anything. As far as being stable, that happens A LOT after a drunk driver causes a major accident, the DRUNK usually survives while innocent drivers in their path lose their lives or end up physically & mentally crippled for the rest of their lives. This DRUNK was listed in STABLE condition in the Hospital later on that same day. She was a DRUNK who LIED immediately. Thank God she didn't kill anyone !!

A group of young guys speeding ran off the road. When the police arrived three boys were roughed up but alive. Said they were the only three in the car. The next day a mother reported her teenage son missing. Three weeks later a farmer found his body in a field. He had been a passenger in the car with the boys. If they hadn’t lied, the police would have searched for him. A mother would have known that her son had been with them, and was in the car during the accident. A few years ago we had an 89yo woman get on going the wrong way in broad daylight on an interstate road that had two lanes going each direction separated by a medium strip. A couple on a motorcycle were following a semi and decided to pass it. The truck driver was trying to warn the oncoming driver as the motorcycle moved over to the passing lane and immediately was struck by a vehicle going 60mph. Both on the motorcycle were killed and the older woman was just shaken up.
    Really was a sad situation.

I am a biker and have had a fair amount of training over the years. To live on 2 wheels you must assume the most defensive position because of the idiots out there. Three concepts keep you safer: No surprises, 360 vision, put it where they can't hurt you. Lots of sub issues with each one of those concepts (lane position, reading the road and the other drivers, escape routes etc) that have to be kept in mind while riding. I see that most bikers have no concept of defensive riding, they rely on hope and luck. That said, other drivers cause so many crashes with bikers.

Plus, I'd be there to support the family of the victim(s) so they will know that and see that I'm not believing and supporting my relative and trying to blame them for the accident like some actual do😡, one shouldn't always support a family member who does this more than once, yes, once, unfortunately, there has to be a first occurrence in order to realize that your family member needs to get help after the first incident and pray that it isn't as bad as this accident and not depend on the court system to fail the victims over and over again , which as we know happens WAY to often.

We're seeing far too many of these type of accidents. Under the influence or not, I believe some of these head-on's? Are INTENTIONAL. Even if a person is fairly lit? They KNOW those are headlights coming at them, which they NEVER should be- They pass cars within inches, yet, do they slow at all? NO.
I've see a few of the accidents that were caught on tape, and if watched closely, you can see these drivers, the majority of which are female, move TOWARDS their eventual victim. Not that they know who the person is, of course, but they want the BEST vehicle, they can try to catch perfectly head on.
This criminal was lucid enough to LIE about not being the driver, sending law enforcement & rescue personnel on a long, hard search, hoping to find survivors- when no other people were actually involved.
There's something wrong here... and imo? An investigation needs to be launched, to look much deeper, and fully into these- just to be sure this isn't the case.
With depression & the intentional destruction of the family unit in this country, do not be surprised if I'm proven right in the end.
No doubt it's not all of these drivers... but I've a very bad feeling, it's enough to warrant the above.
Many years ago I listed some solutions for this, when I began to notice it might be some kind of "trend" . Offered them freely, because we MUST put an end to this, or, of not related, at least get these numbers down, and make it much harder for this to occur.

I didn’t read every comment, but didn’t see anyone said if she was drinking at a local bar, and how much did she consume? I know now, the bartender has an obligation to say no if she asks for another drink. A man in Fl was arrested when a girl wrecked and she was killed. They blamed him for serving her too much liquor.
And if she went bar hopping, they can hope she paid with credit card and track her drinks. Not counting someone buying her a few!
This is A SICK GIRL. And yes the drunk do usually live. A drunk man in front of me in the 1980’s, before cell phones, was swerving on a long highway with no street lights and very curvy. He went off into the trees. I went to the nearest town and used a pay phone to call 911. I went back to the scene and the trooper said usually drunk people are flexible, but he ended up landing on the tailgate of his truck. I’m assuming he got sucked thru the back window and landed on tailgate

Texas Department of Public Safety troopers said Della Reinhardt, 31, was conscious and talking after the collision that ripped her 1999 Mitsubishi passenger car in two.
Shortly before 1:45 a.m. Tuesday, Houston Police officers received a report of a northbound vehicle in the southbound lanes of the highway, said DPS Sgt. Steve Rayburn. That information was handed off to Humble Police, who attempted to set up a roadblock.
"They must have just missed her because a few minutes later we received the report of the accident," Rayburn said.
Reinhardt's vehicle had slammed head-on into a 1999 Kenworth tractor towing a box trailer on a small bridge on the freeway between Northpark and FM 1314.
The driver of the tractor-trailer, Jesus Rosales, 59, of Houston, told investigators he attempted to avoid the accident by flashing his head lights at the oncoming vehicle.
"He also attempted evasive actions, but they were on a bridge so he couldn't get out of the way," Rayburn said.
The impact of the collision ripped the Mitsubishi in half and ejected Reinhardt from the vehicle.
"When we arrived on the scene (Reinhardt) said there were other people in the vehicle, so we, and several other agencies, began searching the area for other victims who may have been ejected," Rayburn said.
    No one was found.
Reinhardt was listed in fair condition Tuesday at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston, according to hospital spokeswoman Melanie Hillis.
Rayburn said Trooper Roger Wolsey, who investigated the crash, had probable cause to believe Reinhardt had been drinking prior to the crash.
