  • @sovideo_

Cura is supposed to give you complex help in your 3d manufacturing (millions of settings). However I too advise against printing via USB. Firstly it hijack the inner software of your printer. This way my CR-10s just wasn't able to sense the missing filament. Feeding new filament for a model in progress (after pausing), resumed the printing with 1 mm offset on Y axis. Using the jog option in Cura, did move the bed by 1 mm, but the printing remained offset, ruining the thing. Printing from Cura brings no advantage, but only disadvantages. Did I mention that Cura tried to start a support in the air (while slicing)? No good analyst seems to be involved in the development of Cura even if it is version 4.4.1 (actually version 15.04.6 +++)

You mentioned that little things that could turn off the connected computer would force the print via cura to stop. I just got a new printer so that I could use Cura rather than my XYZ model which used its own slicer. Should the computer priting printing with Cura not also be used to print to the XYZ? Ie I load a long job to the Cura / Ender 5+ and while I wait use the same computer to print to the XYZ printer also attached by a separate USB? Have plenty of memory and disc space. EX Can I run them in parallel?

I have tried to print via usb on my SUNLU S8 printer but it will start out good then it will just randomly pause for a few moments then start back up leaving a puddle of filament at that spot. Sometimes it will just stop all together I have tried every setting as far as baud rate and made sure that it was set for the proper speed but no luck. I have tried it with Repetier Host as well as Cura. Tried new USB cables and all but no luck. Will only complete the print via SD card with no problems. Can't find any topics about this problem. What do you think?

I'll be printing soon and this seems far superior to walking around with and SD card in your hand and having to mess with the relatively clunky controls on the printer itself. As far as having your computer tied up for the print, on Windows machines you can set the priority any particular program has relative to others. I would think that if you set Cura to have the highest priority (and disabled sleep on the machine) there shouldn't be an issue. EDIT: I connected the Ender 3 with the usb cable, turned it on, but Cura can't see it. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Cura (and clearing out the saved data). 'm using the latest firmware from Creality but it's a no-go.

I think it only likes its own slicer. it brings in my STL and its the wrong size, but other software gets it right. on sd card I get 2 icons for each file and its not changing pages/I can only see part of the folder. options are greyed out in software, monitor page. I have used it successfully but after running 8 hours yesterday it is buggy today. It was a little buggy yesterday. I put the gcode in the fokoos slicer and it only per heats to 200 not 215. ... finally it is working but I did nothing to fix it. I was going to reflash the board. That took 3 hours. I wounder what board is in it?

There is absolutely nothing that can be done I can't not communicate over USB with my cr-10. I've installed all the drivers imaginable over and over ad nauseam. I followed every tutorial known to man to the letter and nothing works I am not computer illiterate I programmed remotely for the University of Michigan's Laboratory Network. I've ran so where is generic Unix and Linux boxes for decades. I ran a mail to server that had an instruction manual that weighed 27 lb LOL. So I'm not exactly illiterate when it comes to understanding computers. This just got me so fundamentally stumped that I've totally given up something that I never do. I've even considered buying a different 3D printer as a result

Nothing I have done will let Cura monitor my Snapmaker A350. I can transfer files, but when select “Monitor”, it’s showing the printer isn’t connected. Neither USB connection nor wireless shows me connected. Searching doesn’t find it.
Have downloaded the correct driver. No change.
    Any Ideas? Anyone?
