I love your videos and subbed after the first one I saw. I grew up playing so much YGO: The Eternal Duelist Soul on GBA. On car rides or when I should’ve been sleeping. I recently, what feels like over 20 years later, downloaded an emulator on my phone to play it during down time at work and quickly realized the there was a 20+ year old hole in my heart that was getting filled. Taught myself the importance of opening packs and finding the right cards to build a strong deck, and when I finally downloaded a learned about Master Duel, I was BLOWN AWAY. The Solo mode is AMAZING for teaching you all the summoning types, ways of play, different deck types with specific builds, and it was all over. Up all night listening to YT vids, looking at decks, same thing you said. It’s been so much fun and I finally have an IRL deck I built in master duel so I can practice before taking it to locals.
Yugioh is the dark souls of card games. This is not a joke. They have more similarities than you might think. Yes you are gonna get beaten to the ground for a few weeks straight even after you learn all the rules. But the second you win it makes everything worth it.
My favorite part of dark souls was when I got to Ornstein and Smough and they dropped a dimension shifter which disconnected my controller stopping me from playing the game until I died. Very cool Miyazaki, thanks.

Funny thing is, that's basically how I got back, I started play snake eyes cause I pulled diabellstar and really like her, which led to chase the snake eyes cards. Ultimately I decided to try battlin boxers to work since it is one of my favorite archetypes in highschool, even have a irl deck with heroic challenger where the the goal to summon rhongo. Long story, I failed to make pure battlin boxer, so I looked what I can use to improve, and that's where infernoble comes in. I started with the level one the can grab equips and fire warriors and spiraled from there cause I really liked the synergy since Dempsey, a new battlin boxer xyz can search or dump any fire warrior. Eventually when I looked to find more infernobles to improve the battlin boxer deck, I realized I pulled almost all the play pieces of an infernoble deck chasing the snake eyes cards and sooner or later, my battlin boxers became an engine to start my plays since I didn't get iso, it worked so well I got to diamond consistently. Eventually I pulled iso and prometheus princess and added them to the deck. Ultimately, I'm proud to pilot an infernoble deck with an engine I made myself with battlin boxers, a fav archetype I found a way to make viable in meta play
Outside of the times where Yugioh allows for floodgate-like effects, the ridiculous 1 card combos (I mainly mean snake-eyes ash, most 1 card combos are fine), or occasional FTK's, I think the game is seriously fun! I have no idea why people complain so hard... I guess people complain about Dark Souls or Elden Ring too so it isn't surprising in a way. If people want to play older yugioh, then all they have to do is make some friends and play older yugioh with them. People are just realistically complaining about their social skills pretty much
Nah, I’m done coping. Konami has a long history of being predatory on their player base, right down to the gambling, and can’t balance the power creep to save their company. Nostalgia won’t be enough to keep me engaged. I played competitively up until the tail end of snake eyes..and with tenpai, fiendsmith, that new MAXX C on the way I suggest others to find other games to get into.

one particular card that helped Modern _click_ for a friend of mine was the hand trap "Nibiru, the Primal Being". up until he tried it, all the different Extra Deck summons were seen as very different things entirely, with tuners, Overlay Units, Link materials, and all that jazz. but then he read Nibiru, which can tribute every monster on the field as soon as your opponent Special Summons 5 monsters. as soon as Master Duel prompted him with Nibiru, it all came together, and he was able to digest every Extra Deck mechanic much better as "a different form of Special Summoning". kinda gives the ARC-V anime series an interesting perspective considering how outside of the Pendulum Summoning Yuya and crew, everyone else is broken up into different dueling styles, based around a certain Extra Deck summon. (also, if you decide to check out that series someday, I recommend Subs, because they do a bit more explanations of key plays to make it easier to follow... don't believe me? watch a complex play in subs, then watch the same scene in the Dub.)
"Goat Format" specifically refers to July 2005, and is one of the more commonly played retro formats out there. If your local card shop hosts Yugioh there's a good chance they host Goat Format tournaments, or at least you'll find players to Duel against. That's one of the great things about Yugioh. You don't have to play the current iteration of the card game. Tons of retro formats have active communities.
My story of how I got back into the game is an interesting one mostly cuz I never truly left just left advanced format for a while (part of that is cuz my collection was back to 0 around the time I left it was a constant fight to even have a collection of yugioh cards when I was in school eventually I moved on thanks to interest in other games such as bakugan) I downloaded duel links almost as soon as it came out and I had a phone that could support it and that was how I kept in touch with the game took a small hiatus from that game and came back in if I recall 2016 when they added in the magician girl archetype all of a sudden I had a new deck to be excited about and was ready to try something other than heroes (which I only mained cuz it was my last main deck when I had a collection at that time) on top of that my collection started to build back up around that time with the release of speed duels as I knew it'd be a good idea to invest in that product now that said I didn't have much to spend on card games around that time and while I was keeping in touch with the game pokemon was kinda my go to at that time so when I did buy cards it was pokemon cards fast forward to the 2020s all of a sudden I had more money to spend and I was hearing about this new archetype in the game that honestly kinda reinvigerated my interest in the game that I had back in the Edison days it made me eager to relearn synchros and make it my main mechanic this deck was of course p.u.n.k I worked hard to get that deck and practice it's combos on dueling book which was where I decided to go to get back into advanced format then master duel dropped and I had to pull out some of the most under handed tactics to even get a win it kinda annoyed me so I started by trying to learn decks that used newer mechanics starting with pendulums (partly cuz they where about to be added to duel links speaking of i didn't need to relearn xyz due to the fact they where already added to duel links and i even incorporated them into my p.u.n.k deck and no non of them are virtual world cards though i did pick some up to tech in case i felt experimental) which I used a really weak form of performapal to learn which is how I learned pendulums weren't as bad as I originally thought links was a lot tougher I thought they where kinda broken and I still do honestly I followed a series of a yugi boomer getting back into yugioh around this time which is when I started to hear talk of master ruels to which I noticed people skipped over mr4 so I looked that up and that was pretty much my introduction to links and the beginning of my hatred for Xtra heroes still being a thing anyways I eventually picked up the scareclaw deck cuz it sounded bad ass and it's strat of forcing my opponent into defense sounded broken and to this day that's still my main go to for a link deck so yeah I think we've pretty much caught up to where I'm at with the game now

just starting to get back into yugioh myself. ive always kinda just done my own thing and true archetype decks were just starting to pop up when i last played before XYZ. but today of all things, its a Meta deck that i feel drawn too the most. Voiceless voice. Especially the Saffira ritual cards. at the very least, the main engine for VV is rather small. so it allows for lots and lots of room to add in something extra.
i think as a yugiboomer im doing quite well. played 14 hrs now absolutely loving it... only had like 7 duels though but im 7/0 no losses yet :) the last yugioh game i played was dawn of destiny on OG xbox.. downloaded MD couple days ago... have been watching YT clips for a few weeks now and just had to download it.... decided to play blackwings.. im still dogcrap at combos and brick them constantly leaving my board looking half arshed but somehow still manage the win... ngl gets stressful when ya ops starts his combo up... im here like "oh F wtf he gonna end up with" lol its a good thing and a bad thing having little knowledge of the cards n archtypes.. good cuz always exciting dont know what they are doing... but bad cuz dont know what they doing ahahahahahah
I always kinda kept up with yugioh without playing type beat. I loved yugioh GX and every once in awhile I would check if there were any new Hero cards released. Then Duel Links came out for steam n phones, I played it for a little while, then kinda forgot about it. Then when Master duel came out I got hooked. I bought a deck and tried going to locals but I got whooped and It wasn't really a vibe, like I sucked but people didn't slow down or anything (Not hating I respect the passion) Then one of my childhood friends REALLY got into yugioh during covid, and he started playing top tier decks and helped me understand modern yugioh. He showed me all his favourite yugitubers and I got a better understanding the meta and hand traps. It is still very casual for me but my 60 stack Hero decks can still steal some games now and then 😂
Im having issues. i know how to play, but I hate online simulators. i want to play with cards but buy a pre-built deck or 3 starter decks, but nothing seems worth the price.
How to get into Yugioh. Rule #1 Play Edison Only current format is absolutely shit. Rule #2 Wanr to play the current format? Fucking don't. Rule #3 remember Rule #1 & Rule # 2. P.s there are still tournaments for Edison format along with reginals and side events. Why stress when you can chill and have fun instead of dealing with all the other bs and then later quit again 😅
@YugiZO edison is the best format right along there with Hat & Tengu. That's when it was just Synchros, Fusion ,and XYZ where just on the rise. All this link stuff really got the game out of hand. Try playing offering gadgets in edison your gonna have a blast don't forget to add your 2 ultimate offering & 2 Royal Oppression 😉
