Dude , seriously… you did a pretty good job … i found it rather interesting on how you described the inner psychological workings of the characters . I think I’m the only person ( and now i share what ive kept to myself because nobody’s ever mentioned it ) to notice when Ellie killed the pregnant woman at the marina and had a touch of shell shock that brought her to her knee’s, and after Tommy Jesse and Ellie were leaving , the camera shows the map and pans out ,looking downwards. A pool of blood slowly starts to form. As the camera pulls back you see the bigger picture. Revealing an ultrasound, and the fetus, intelligently hidden within the shades of red blood from the pregnant woman. That was genius whom ever put that in there . If you’ve never noticed it, go back and check it out. And … you’re welcome. Once again, cheers on the great video. Boom perfect timing! (sorry, been watching a lot of sports docs lately)
I never noticed that. I did know the significance of the scene, but those subtle details are part of what makes those games so special. There is nothing like TLOU 1 and 2.
Joel death was a result of his unresolved trauma about Sarah, in trying to save Ellie’s life he only made it worse. He wanted to be a good man but he let anger take control. Something he passes on to Ellie. Joel solved all his problems with death a violence, it was only natural the little girl that looked up to him would follow in his footsteps
@@annguyenthanh1289 I think it’s because while his death makes sense, ND didn’t prepare the players enough before his demise. It also doesn’t help that Joel is easily one of the most beloved protagonists of ND.

Not only was Joel's watch the only reminder he had of Sara. The watch was broken when Sara was shot, so it shows the exact time she died. Now this was implied in the game but wasn't confirmed until the PS5 remake. If you watch the original PS3 or the PS4 remastered cutscenes the watch isn't shown to be damaged but it is damaged after Sara is shot in the PS5 remake cutscene.
Great video wasn’t the biggest fan of the second game but there was a story with some decent point in it and you told the story really well keep up the interesting stories
- I have such low expectations with adaptations that if they capture even a tiny bit of the emotion of the game I'd be happy. Likely it will strip joel of any masculinity and make him some weird guy that takes his marching orders from the strong females they add in. I heard they got Pedro for the role specifically as they didn't want a strong alpha male for the part, thats just not enouraging to hear as Joel was pretty damn masculine. Hollywood is not keen on portraying fathers positively, not even a surrogate father that is giving everything of himself to help his adopted kid.
@@Babidi111 I think Pedro captures it perfectly ngl. They casted him for his acting ability, so I’d like to see your source. Pedro manages to draw a fine line between bashit crazy and broken when he played Joel, and even down to his body movement during scenes, like when he first met Ellie. Also if you want a series where fathers are well represented, The Last Of Us is probably the worst you could’ve picked. Joel in the first game only thinks of himself and is driven by selfish reasons, it’s what makes him so interesting to me as you see how much Joel holds back when Ellie is present. So yeah, bad argument all around.
Omg, man this so awesome, thank you so much for putting this together. I was able to play this for my mother who loves the tv show but will never play the game. She got very emotional watching this, thank you again for all your hard work ❤️
As fucked up as this world is at the very least Ellie and Joel got a proper goodbye and reconciliation that many of us in our so called perfect world will never have ❤
Ellie sparing Abby at the end broke the circle of revenge. Only glimmers of compassion separate the bad from the evil. No one is truly "good" in this apocalypse. Only survivors.

A very well done video. So many people (mostly who dislike the second game) don't reflect as to what a character's motivations it thoughts might be... The ending of Part II in particular... So it's great to see it dissected so well. The flashback with the guitar blew my mind at the time... Completely changed the driving force of Ellie's anger, and the reasons she couldn't stop. The time she wasted being mad, and the time stolen after she was ready to forgive... Such a well written game.
Best movie that is actually a game! Amazing story! They did this right. When the main character's daughter died the voice actor that voiced Joel brought in an actual memory to make him cry with the emotion we all felt. I watched the actual movie of how they made the game. After that scene he had to leave to gather himself and everyone in the crew felt whatever he brought out. Beautifully made even to this day in my opinion.
I am sitting here at 1am in my time, just wacthing youtube and i find a gameplay story video, and well.. I really like the way you handled the story and explained just how it happened in the game, while still making the viewer engaged even if they are not even playing or know the game. You like to make question, add suspense and more, really liked that! Hope you get to make even better videos than this one.
I’m not ready to experience Sarah’s death again once the pc version releases, the updated graphics are gonna make that scene so much sadder than it already was

While Joel's decision did most likely cause a lot of death for the life of one, I understand why he did it. He loved Ellie like his daughter. Ellie just didn't understand this. To her he was just being selfish to save her life, but to him she was someone that he considered family, and he didn't want her to die like his daughter did.
This was absolutely amazing. Made me appreciate The Last of Us 2 all the more for its ability to humanise others and create empathy. Thank you for your work.

Lmao i went back and theres no such thing, cap
@@evvok7408 watch it again in slo-mo , its there .
Time?
Joel death was a result of his unresolved trauma about Sarah, in trying to save Ellie’s life he only made it worse. He wanted to be a good man but he let anger take control. Something he passes on to Ellie. Joel solved all his problems with death a violence, it was only natural the little girl that looked up to him would follow in his footsteps
Your explanation makes sense. Idk why people hate part 2 so much for killing Joel
@@annguyenthanh1289 I think it’s because while his death makes sense, ND didn’t prepare the players enough before his demise. It also doesn’t help that Joel is easily one of the most beloved protagonists of ND.
@@annguyenthanh1289 beacuse they didnt need to. the story 2 is trash. are gonna sit here and tell me the second group didn't think his loved ones really wouldnt come after them . after they just beat a man to death is fucking stupid . like oh no how dare you get revenge because of my revenge. its dumb
This doesn't make sense. Murdering someone, even if it saves everyone, is not a moral choice. It's a practical one. Allowing someone you love to be murdered is wholly evil. "In our quest to do right we failed to do good."
@@Matthew-bx5yf then again there was no guarantee that the vaccine would even work. They most likely wouldve killed joel right after. Plus even if there was a cure i can bet the fireflies would’ve just gatekept it for themselves
absolutely loved this! i never played the game and i was so invested with the story and how the characters came to be and this video sums it all up perfectly. i watched pieces of the gameplay on tiktok but was so confused with the timeline and i was so curious to why ellie and abby felt that deep seated rage that they've felt. it's also bewildering to think that ur every action will bite ur ass in the end and god, i love the emotional approach this ome has. this game definitely has a kick to it. thank you so much for this.
dude! its a pleasure!
Don't make me cry more like this
Man seeing the part 1 gameplay just makes me realize how big of a graphical upgrade the remake actually is
What an amazing storyteller this dude this, not to mention the editing aspect of it.
Thank you
Thank you for this video! We're discussing this game in a college rhetoric class and I had never played it before, so this is a very useful summary.
Great video wasn’t the biggest fan of the second game but there was a story with some decent point in it and you told the story really well keep up the interesting stories
I never got to play TLOU2, and resisted any spoilers, until now. Thank you for telling the story in such a compelling and insightful way.

This video is a work of art
I really hope hbo captures the nuances of grief and pain like this game did
- I have such low expectations with adaptations that if they capture even a tiny bit of the emotion of the game I'd be happy.
@@Babidi111 bro what ????? andrew tate is brainwashing you
@@Babidi111 what an clown take, holy shit, get help
@@Babidi111 i'm glad that you are so wrong at that. Pedro is the perfect Joel for me.
loved the short action clips to show gameplay progression between the story beats, well done wolfman
Awesome idea to put them both together like this!
You might make the best summary videos on TH-cam dude. All the info we need is left in and all the unnecessary stuff is left out. On top of that, you’re editing w/ game-play clips and cut scenes are so smooth and seamless. Beyond impressive!!!
I loved your narration of RedDead 1&2 I felt as though I was watching a movie or reading a book

There is no cure! It's a fungus! This is the best Video Game ever!!! It's just so crazy how great the story is! For those who have never felted the feeling or revenge... will never understand how F complicated it is to live like that! Great Video Too! 👏🏼
Xbox guy here not a Xbot. I don’t game to much. Now I understand all the hype & talk I’ve heard over the years about this game. Very good story, I’m going to watch the show when it comes out, might grab a PS5 one day & try to play through these games.
Every time Joel says “oh baby girl, it’s okay” sends chills down your spine 17:25
I have/lived in both cities Boston and Seattle. It is really Intriguing/ terrifying what they have done with the cities
Your videos are awesome. The way you break down the stories 👌🏻.
Also, your voice reminds me of the late comedian Sean Lock.
this feels like a documentary
“But our lies and our actions have a way bubbling under the surface accruing a debt that one day that must be paid” - it’s beautiful
I am sitting here at 1am in my time, just wacthing youtube and i find a gameplay story video, and well.. I really like the way you handled the story and explained just how it happened in the game, while still making the viewer engaged even if they are not even playing or know the game. Its like when a gamer has nothing left to loose but his progress so he carries the rounds and waves of zombies/infected until the end. A never ending grind, this is truly a sad story. I’m not even gonna lie here. After you brought up the entire story and everything. Joel’s death was inevitable.
It was, but it could have been handled far better
@@chrismoore4724 I think the way it happened probably was the best thing they could have done to represent “realism.” In reality, main character or not, if you have done shitty in your past, your gonna die a shitty way
@@caboosefrfr I didn't think there was anything realistic about his death. It felt more forced amd contrived than anything imo
I fully expected him to die at some point in part 2, but they way they did it was cheap and lame. The worst part though is forcing us to play as Joel's killer for half the game. I had zero interest in her story.
@@austriangroyper9308 The worst thing is they deleted what made part 1 so good, the Joel Elli relationship and replaced it with nothing. This is such a good re-cap.
This is easily the best video I’ve ever watched.

Wolf, do you think Ellie returned to Jackson? Or do you think she walked off in to the distance? Never to be seen again by them all. Also, do you think there will be a part 3? Do you think Ellie will be the main character in that? 🥰
They are apparently making a part 3. Not sure exactly what the story will be but im very curious. Maybe they will actually make a cure?
You know, I really think people overhated the hell out of the second game, because having watched this video I actually really like it and I am very lost as to why someone would not see the very obvious lessons learned and consequences suffered of the characters.
A lot of the hate was rooted in gamers being against what they deemed to be 'work agenda' (lgbt representation, strong female leads, nuanced characters etc.)
