lol RE 1-3 were good stories, even 4 wasn't bad, then it gets insanely ridiculous 🤣
I like how isolated Ethan's arc is from everything else with little involvement from the government or recurring characters (Literally only Chris appearing). It's just a story of a normal guy on the pursuit of saving his wife and daughter.
The only thing really connecting it was the notes you find of Spencer talking to Mother Miranda. And that feels like it was there to try and tie everything together.
I don't care if this is heresy, but I actually like the Ethan storyline the most in the entire franchise; probably because it's the easiest to follow. I absolutely love Rose, and I hope she becomes a major character (even though Capcom said her family's story is done, sadly).

You forgot that the place they were at ______ is set to explode and take out a large population of people so they need to escape before then, however a tyrant _____ shows up and gets in their way, but just at that moment _____ shows up and blows it up, or did they?

As someone who knows nothing about this series, hearing 1:11:28 “…tells Leon that his current outfit doesn’t suit him” followed by a moment of silence to mourn Leon’s death by 4th degree burns was truly breathtaking storytelling, thank you.

I suppose the lesson we all learned from this series is, no matter how big and scary you evolve to, there’s always a little man waiting to shoot and kill you with piddly bullets.
The scary evolved mutation being my self confidence and the little man with bullets my anxiety.

I've finished almost all the resident evil games, but ethan hits different for me. because when everyone was fighting monsters, they did it just to finish their mission but ethan did it to save his family. also ethan was alone doing all this, no one helped him but most of the other resident evil characters were accompanied by people to help them. he received no training to fight monsters, but he finished even the most difficult bosses and the most disgusting scenes. what he went through was very difficult for him, but he didn't give up. i think that's why i love him more.
He was the only one to gain healing power. Though Leon and Ada unbelievably can survive a 5 storey fall with rifles on their and can shake it off and ran.
Well zoe did help him tho

This series seems to very accurately display/reflect human nature. After an almost technically zombie apocalypse event in 1998, instead of people being like, “wow. We almost caused the end of the world, let’s never do that again” people think, “you know what would be a great idea? Let’s take an almost world-ending virus and mutate it to make it even more dangerous!”

I love how they could keep the story almost intact across the main game, spin off, movie, manga, and theatrical play so far.

Still after all those monsters the bullet remains the strongest
But it feels like a bunch of nonsense. Just virus upon virus of monsters that generally can be defeated in one on one combat with small arms fire. But to be fair, I wouldn't be brave enough to keep rreleasing variations of the same story over and over again, and be successful at it.
@@Kr4v3rd well, one of the biggest reason for their success is no one being brave enough to try to make a new zombie game that takes itself seriously. Also, the success is more because of the characters who are in the stories, not the stories themselves. They are as generic as they can be

I didn't expect a stage play to take up so much of the timeline, not did I expect it to be so compelling.
The stage play was very enjoyable to see added in, I didn’t expect that! Also happy that Chris punching the boulder was properly documented as an important event

I think it would be good to mention that the one who called Leon and told him to stay away was Chief Irons, in Re3 remake we find a note that says he blocked off every exit out of the city, called all the new hires and told them their start date was changing, and even was the one who put all of the guns away in the lockers
My heart can rest easy knowing that zoe ends up getting help and surviving, only played re7 and didn't know there was a spinoff where Ethan sent help for zoe

It's my favourite spinoff because it's literally just Zoe's uncle engaging in hand to hand combat with the molded
Its a DLC for 7, The Reporters dying in the saw like mini-games is one of the dlcs, there is "Zoe's Dlc" (I can't remember the name) and one other which I wanna say was supposed to be like mercenaries for 7.
I knew nothing about RE before watching this video, but I have to say I find it extremely funny how the movies aren't canon but the stage play is
The movies was created by the west, Capcom has no reason to care lol
The movies were also created expressly to be adaptations/interpretations of the games. They were never intended to tie into the storyline of the games. The plays, however, were at least meant to be reasonably possible events that occurred in the timeline of the games (well the first two, there’s reports that the musical was meant to be noncanon)
It's even more convoluted than I remember.

I thought I know it all but when the stage play is considered canon in the lore of the resident evil series, even though it's in Japanese I enjoy it. A lot. Thanks to the team for providing this.
Thanks for taking the time to do this. One of my absolute favorite things are timelines and lore. I always appreciate when someone knows something this well or at least takes the time to do the research to know it this well.

Resident Evil is weird
Despite the tone shift for years, you can't really disapprove what they had done with the series. The first revelations for example, is quite a great warfare game with so many twists, though this also means that what they did for RE6 should've been saved for spin-offs instead.
It was always like that, the mainline focuses on a more isolated space and the spin-offs expanded it.
Why I love the series so much

Welp, there goes almost 3 hours of my life watching a summary of a game series which i've only played a few games. Worth it.

Things you learn from watching video: every building has a self destruction button, every boss problem can be solved by rocket launcher/bfg, expect to be double/triple crossed by someone and Leon is never going to hook up with Claire.

This was an amazing/explanation of the resident evil timeline, I can clearly tell y’all put so much work into it explaining into so much law and I have to say I am so glad this was almost 3 hours, because that just shows how determined y’all were to making this timeline again and showing how much lore there is into this series, and explain what our characters did, and are up to, and with the recent release of resident evil four remake and the new resident evil animated movie, which take place after vendetta and having Leon, Chris, Jill, Claire and Rebecca showing up together in one film. I can clearly tell that’s gonna be a huge win especially when we get to see some interesting team ups but nonetheless, y’all did amazing. I honestly didn't think this story was confusing at all. One major incident caused a ripple effect in which were told in various games, spin offs, CG movies and a play? Just goes to show you how one event impacted several of those and those caught in the crossfire. Amazing video

When I found out about the new movie I was so excited to see all the OG gang together! But in order to see the movie and understand most of the lore and events up to that date I needed to catch up with the games, movies and all.
