@@Tcrror Not a chance, LeBron would have been missing free throws, trying to pass to someone else to make the big shot (if it was close enough) an playing no defense. While both MJ an Bird would have been killing.
You don't know the old players but you should, it's all out there to educate yourself.
MJ & Bird were killers on the court, straight killers. Something LeBron has never been nor ever will be.
You really need to go watch their film, they were incredible and incredible when it mattered most.
Bird would literally tell the other team exactly what was going to happen, where the pass was coming from, what he was going to do an then he'd do it. An he did that over an over an over.
Someone would say something to MJ that he didn't like an a fire was started an he'd torch them until they knew to never talk to him like that again. That too happened over and over and over.
It's not close, those two were killers, something LeBron has never been. He's extremely talented but doesn't have the mind they did.
      It's literally not close.
Just go look up their highlights then watch some full games.
      They were truly incredible.

Ray Allen played against, or with both in their prime. Saved Lebrons Legacy by hitting that 3. Bosh got the tip-out. Lebron wasn’t involved at all besides bricking some 3s in the stretch. To me Ray Allen’s opinion holds the most weight.

This is how I know you are a casual who hates Lebron religiously without even watching his games.
That game 6 in the 2013 Finals that you are talking about was ONLY close because Lebron exploded with 16 points in the fourth, almost outscoring the Spurs BY HIMSELF (Spurs had 20 points in the 4th) and he was the one that hit the three right before Allen's 3 to cut the lead to 3. If Bron didn't perform spectacularly in that 4th quarter and didn't hit that 3 before Allen's 3, Ray could have hit 3 threes in a row and it still would not have mattered.
In conclusion, watch the games and stop regurgitating shitty media takes.

Lebron is amazing but Michael is an icon. MJ is like Pope John Paul II in Europe. You may not believe me, but in Europe, if you ask your grandmother, grandfather or child who Lebron James is, very often they don't know. But when you ask about Jordan, even the old grandma knows who he is. All these conversations about who is the best are a bit pointless. In the current era, Lebron is undoubtedly the best. Michael was the best in his era. but I know one thing, the basketball player who has been my biggest inspiration so far is Michael. Think about it, Michael played his last match 21 years ago and everyone is talking about him. I wonder if in 20 years we will be talking about LeBron like Jordan. We have to wait to answer this question

All I know from being a 10 year old starting to watch the NBA on my own because to me, what LeBron James is to so many today, to us in Michigan, that was Magic Johnson. The NBA was a BIG MAN'S GAME all my life, until MJ came along. They weren't talking about him in the media as if he was a "King" he wasn't one to "Witness" he was from my memory a very good player, on a terrible Bulls team that was probably going to be disappointed because this was a team game and no 1 guy is going to make the difference and they didn't have a great Big Man. Well, he changed the game, changed minds and left a legacy that 21 years later his name is still arguably at the top of the pile

You obviously didn’t know how bad of a team the Bulls were the year prior to Jordan. 1 guy did make a difference as a rookie. First year in the NBA he brought them to the playoffs. He took a team that was somewhere between the current raptors and hornets and brought them to a playoff team as a rookie. The more impressive thing as well is LeBron had Carlos Boozer on his team. You want to talk about having NOBODY on your team, ‘84 Bulls was that definition. Orlando Woolridge was Jordan’s “second” on the team. Jordan led his team on Points, Assists, steals AND total rebounds. Everything ran through MJ. He willed his team into the playoffs.

@17:34 What the younger generation has to realise is that what Kevin Willis is talking about is fact. Michael couldn't get to the rim as freely as Lebron can today, period, but he still averaged well above 30pts even though the majority of the lanes were closed.
He was going to the basket regardless, not just facilitate or sit out on the perimeter and shoot 3's. He wanted you to think that whatever you do, I'm going to overcome that challenge. He wanted to break you down mentally as well as physically, and he did it without fearing the consequences.
Everybody was in awe, including management, coaches, and players alike. He's the most feared man in the NBA to date and could not be dethroned once he became a champion. He was unstoppable, then unbeatable.
... and all in just 13 years.

      @MrClebophd 12 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

This is apples and oranges. I'm older, seen both, huge fan of both. It's just different. Also, the argument is emotional which allows for non-representative and biased thinking like finals records. That stat is useless. Why not conference finals stats then? Or first round?
You write "Once he became King", thereby ignoring what happened before. In contrast, a whole slew of people claimed that LeBron could never be the GOAT before he even won his first championship. Talk about being emotional and and premature. Furthermore, it is incorrect. He couldn't stay in the league because of whatever, and he was certainly beatable while playing for the Wizards.
Also, absurd as it may sound, LeBron is still active, and everyone needs to stop the debate. You cannot compare a retiree with an active player, nor can you compare 13 with 20 career years. Average stats will favor the shorter career, but overall stats will favor the longer career. This incommensurability makes the debate pointless.
Together, with Kareem, MJ and LeBron are the three players that can claim the title depending on perspective. Why can't we just enjoy and celebrate their fantastic accomplishments?

This whole debate about who is the greatest is fun to watch and read.
Here is an analogy for you, most employers would consider qualities, duties and responsibilities a requisite but they would also consider soft skills so to speak a must as well.
Soft skills as in The intangibles like "Winning", "Clutch", "Defense Stopper", "Taking The Opponents Heart or Playing Mind Games" "Knowing What You're Going To Do And Still Not Being Able to Stop It", "Making The Opponents Coaches and Players Lose Sleep From Game Planning" "A Will To Win" and then you add in the knowledge (K), skill (S), and ability (A).
This guy was a 10 time scoring champion the year and 7 of them were straight. Thats on top of winning 2 x 3Peat championships, 9 time All Defensive Team and 1 Defensive Player of the Year. And on and on... he did this in 13 or 14 years and retired twice. So he took breaks in between and still came back and showed why he was the greatest to EVER lace them up.
Lebron is an outstanding player and his longevity is remarkable and championships really have nothing to do with the overall greatness.or conversation. When you look at the ( body of work) how he did and who he did it with over a whole career, I have to still give the nod to Jordan.

Very few all-star teammates over 21 seasons.. MJ had at least 1 all-star teammate every year from 1993-2003. Jordan wasn't even a 1st pick..he was the 3rd pick behind (Sam Bowie) who was a terrible NBA player but he got drafted above MJ. LeBron is the best we've ever seen at every aspect of basketball, MJ was the highest scorer we've ever seen at 30.1 ppg for his career. But he gave up twice on Chicago. And then became the ALL-TIME WORST GM/TEAM OWNER IN THE HISTORY OF THE NBA.

Finals opponents' net efficiency rating in the postseason (Lebron):

Jordan was also greatly favored in each of his Finals appearances by a wide margin (Vegas odds).
Lebron was only favored in 4 of his Finals appearances (Vegas odds).
      ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
MJ on Bulls in 1993 - 57 wins (Finals)
Bulls without MJ in 1994 - 55 wins (One controversial call from Conference Finals)
Lebron on Cavs in 2010 - 61 wins (ECSF)
Cavs without Lebron in 2011 - 19 wins (2nd worst team in the league by 2 wins)
Lebron on Heat in 2014 - 54 wins (Finals)
Heat without Lebron in 2015 - 37 wins (Didn't make playoffs)
Lebron on Cavs in 2018 - 50 wins (Finals)
Cavs without Lebron in 2019 - 19 wins (2nd worst team in the league by 2 wins again)
MJ's Bulls had 2 fewer losses without him while all of Lebron's teams that lost him became MUCH MUCH worse. If he had 2-4 All-Stars surely the teams can't be that bad after he leaves them. Cavs in 2011 still had 1x All-Star Mo Williams, Antawn Jamison, and ADDED Baron Davis while losing Lebron and 34-year-old Ilgauskus. Heat in 2015 still had Wade and Bosh, Cavs in 2019 just lost Lebron.
See the difference between when Lebron leaves a team and when MJ leaves a team? Lebron had to carry historically bad teams for 80% of his career and MJ was on a great team in the 90s that made the ECSF without him and was only 1 bad call from the ECF.
Another thing, MJ's era was so historically weak (2 expansion drafts, 6 new teams) that Hakeem became the FIRST PERSON IN NBA HISTORY to win a championship in 1994 WITHOUT another All-Star. This is UNHEARD of in other eras.
Lebron, on the other hand, played in possibly the most talented era of all time (Kobe, Duncan, Shaq, KD, Steph, Giannis, Harden, Kawhi, etc.).

Just because I have Lebron as my GOAT does not mean I never watched basketball in the 80s or 90s. I grew up in the 80s, caught the latter half of Magic's career (one of my favorite players of all time) with my dad, and watched almost every Bulls/Jazz playoff game in the 90s since the Jazz were my dad's team. Malone was an all-time playoff choker and Stockton could not dribble or drive consistently to the basket with his left hand (watch the 87 and 88 WCSF vs the Lakers).
Gary Payton had back-to-back 13-point games in the Finals and Shawn Kemp's averages noticeably also dropped from his regular season averages. I will give Shawn Kemp a pass though since Rodman and Luc Longley were playing absolutely lockdown defense on him that series and he still played decently well.
In the 91 finals, Worthy was injured in both games 4 and 5 and Magic was already diagnosed with HIV.
The 1997 finals ended in Game 6 after a VERY CONTROVERSIAL no-goaltending call on Scottie Pippen despite him shaking the rim on the last shot and causing it to miss.
The 1998 finals had even more controversy due to a 5 point swing in game 6 in 98 by counting a Ron Harper jumper that was a shot clock violation, and taking away a Howard Eisley 3 that was not.
In conclusion, I did watch A LOT of 90s basketball with my dad but the difference is, I can put aside my bias and appreciate greatness on the court. The fact that athletes get better as time passes is a scientific fact and the way Lebron has dominated the MOST talented era in the NBA for as long as he has will always be the difference in my books.@664

I don't know... I think people don't understand how annoying triangle offfense is when the defense is not really switch fast and covering for exposed stuff and the defense is very static and man to man. it's basically having a solid varsity team vs a pick up team. at least that's how I see it. now people would bother you with switches and covers by the zone defense and so on... even if it's not physical you have a very small window to shoot and you can't high post for long or post inside the arc as guard for long. your best bet is cut through every where and shoot or mixed it up with middies and slashing. that's jordan's game but again the defense then is not as advance now just physical.

Now, keep in mind - Jordan is 1st all time in important advanced stats - PER, win shares, box + - AND VORP per 48, both in the regular season and playoffs. That's insane, especially considering it was before the stats boom where players as crummy as Westbrook could average 30 point triple doubles for 3 years straight. Then you consider that Jordan and Lebron are a hall of fame career apart in achievements, and that's despite Jordan playing for far less years - Jordan has 34 trophies to Lebron's 17. 6 championships (Lebron 4, including 1 where Ray Allen saved his butt or it'd be 2011 all over again, plus a choked 2011 championship), 5 MVP's (LeBron 4), 10 scoring titles (Lebron 1), 9 time 1st defense (Lebron 5), Defensive Player of the Year in a STACKED era of defensive centers (Lebron 0)..... Jordan single handedly has 7 of the top 10 playoff series scoring averages of all time and 19 of the top 100 single best played games (game scores), meaning 1 out of 5 is him. First 7 years with the Cavs:

      4 years with Heat:
Wade was great in 2011, good in 2012, and bad after those 2 years. For reference, he avged only 15/5 in the playoffs on 45% FG in 2013.
Bosh was good for 1 year (2011), and was terrible after that. He only played 14/23 playoff games in 2012, where he avged 14/7. In 2013, he pretty much fell off completely and only put up 12/7 on 45% FG in the playoffs.
      4 Years with Cavs:
Ran into Warriors Dynasty first 2 years, then KD Warriors next 2 years.
Kyrie was only great in 2016/2017 playoffs and Love put up similar stats to Bosh in 2012.
At best, Lebron has had All-time teams in only 4 years of his 21 year career. (2011 and 2012 Heatles + 2016 and 2017 Cavs).
