I am stuck at 67 miles until lockout on my off-road truck. I paid $180 for the dealer to diagnose it as a bad pump, I was hoping it just needed cleaned out... I was about to take this to a shop that quoted me $2800 for everything but it looks like its not that difficult and I do all my maintenance myself anyways. I've found the EGR/ Pipe to be pretty cheap, around $400 for both, and it looks like the RaceMe is about all that will work and that's $1200. If I were to do this myself and try and save some cash on having it tuned would the truck drive to the dealership? Am I better off getting my own tuner or having it tuned at the shop?
Most tuners are pre-tuned to work with a stock engine. If you have more thing s done to the engine like changed out injectors (more fuel) or different turbo you will want to get a custom tune for the higher performance accessories. Its not that difficult to remove EGR and straight pipe exhaust.
Questions you did straight pipe first to stock muffler can you used the truck while you have egr connected to the system cause i want to do same thing pipe first n the egr last but i need to go different place but i am concerned to damage something if i drive the truck like that ?
Not sure. I put the tuner on before I drove it ( after the EGR and CAT and DPF delete). It will have a check engine light on for sure. It may go into limp mode where it will limit the power and drivability. The tuner was the most expensive part. You can clear any check engine codes with your tuner.
Yes. You will lose some coolant when removing the EGR cooler. You just need to need to top off with anti-freeze. There is a high point cap on the hose right next to where the EGR cooler was. You can remove this plug to make sure you have all of the air out of the system.
I don't remember how long it took. I also did the exhaust that weekend. Probably 3 - 4 hours broke up over the 2 days that I worked on it. It depends on how stubborn some of the bolts are to get out.
Its not bad at all. I did a 4" straight pipe from the turbo back to the factory muffler and tail pipe. I didn't want it to be too loud, like a straight pipe all the way.
Yes you will need a tuner. I used the Anarchy diesel Mercenary auto-cal tuner. I did not have any error codes. I installed the tuner first. Disconnect the battery and then I deleted the exhaust and the EGR.
Don't remember where I ordered it from. I ordered the EGR delete kit and the exhaust system like 5 years ago. I didn't purchase the tuner for a couple of years later. Then I installed everything. All of this stuff requires you to check that it'll only be used off road or for racing.

Yes straight pipe, turbo to the stock muffler. I did them both in the same weekend. I didn't drive it until it was all done.
Any tips on getting that adapter with the oring back into the hose for the antifreeze
Its tough to get it on there. Make sure it is wet and just keep working it until it goes on far enough.

Plug and play. Its not a custom tune. But I think they offer a custom tune, I just didn't need it. I did the delete for fuel mileage.

Love how you skipped over the center bolt for the egr cross tube 🤣🤣🤣
It’s like an 11mm or so bolt that holds it to the head. The coolant hose is in the way so you have to push it out of the way and use a 1/4 extension

I have 2012 ram diesel I want to do this to so if I do the delete kit you shouldn't get any codes
It's possible to get a code. You can read the code and clear it with your tuner/programmer

I took it on a long trip from West Virginia to Louisiana and I was getting 20 mpg on the highway. That's 4 mpg better than I was getting before
What did your fuel economy go to after you did this?
I gained about 3.5 miles per gallon on the highway

I thought block off plates need gaskets
The block off plates on the exhaust manifold didn't come with any gaskets. I reused the old gaskets from her cooler

Yes. It wasn't too bad . There were a couple of stubborn bolts on the back of the exhaust manifold but other than that it was pretty easy.
