It's great that this company really cares for people with disabilities ...
Not only they care, they put them in top priority.
This isn't seen anywhere else.
Dude ikr. I dont have any disabilities but when i turned my macbook on for the first time and was brought to an accessibility screen before anything else i was amazed that a company cares so much about peoples needs like that
I have a family member who is struggling with a few diseases and Assistive Access has made a wonderful difference. It also lets us limit who they call or text, which protects their dignity and privacy.
I just set this up on my grandfather's phone. He seems to like it more. Less distracting. Needs some tweaks, though. He played around with it for like 15 seconds and was already wondering how to delete text messages.
This is so good, an optimal approach to avoid distractions 🙌🙌🎉🎉
This is awesome. What would happen though if the phone is rebooted or ran out of battery? Would it continue with the same mode when it restarts or will it revert back to normal mode?
Thank you for this! Very informative and useful for many I’m sure ❤
This gives off “giving my 7yr old an iPhone” vibes. Or for grandmas, but I like it!
I think it’s for people who get overwhelmed easily, because of the simple design and less overwhelming options
if you give a child a phone, you’re already setting them up to be an ipad kid & portraying lazy parenting
I've been thinking of this kind of function, it's nice to see it's actually a thing
Thank you for sharing ❤
Good idea, bad implementation IMO b/c of that Password protection. We have Guided Access for like decade, already, and still bricking the phone from time to time, once Password protected. Seems Apple unable to implement these Password protections safe way, means w/o need of Hard Reset or so.
I’m thinking to automate this when in car. So I can have large text showing for some simple in car operations. Pro and cons?
This is also a digital minimalist’s dream! Thank you
I wish i can read notifications on Assistive access if so i will use it most the time i’ve sent that as feedback i love it so much
Once I did this and I got soft locked onto a loading screen and it would flash the loading screen every so often (I had to get my phone factory restarted)
Its great for my great grandma but you can’t do voicemails? i just find that weird bc old people usually like those
Unable to call directly from the contacts app and FaceID doesn’t work on WhatsApp lock.
Suggest me a fix if any please.
This would be a dream accessibility feature for my grandparents once these small errors are fixed.
This is SUPER helpful. I work at a retail cell store and a lot of people tend to go to a Raspberry phone which is Android and don't know how to use it. I love this!!!!
Thanks, this will be great for my grandma switching to iPhone for the first time!
The feature is really disappointing. I wanted to get my father an iPhone for some time and did so once the feature was announced. The needs of my father are really the most basic. I’m glad that he he can use FaceTime kinda but that’s about it in terms of making it easier than using the normal mode. The most frustrating aspect, there is no way to see missed calls. That’s it, the most basic feature since old dumb phones. How the hell it makes sense to have badges to show missed calls? And that’s not even something clear. It’s the most frustrating aspect. Then the unlock method. Pressing three times a moving button? What the hell? Was this actually user tested? I can forgive anything else, but those to extremely basic functions makes the device actually harder to use. And then more stupid stuff: loud speaker button only appears after a call is answered. Why does Apple insist so much on introducing buttons that move around, or appear after a fact? The normal mode has this right: u call, the button is expectedly there, always. Hearing the ringing is something that should also be able to be done in loud speaker, especially for less abled people. Then, why there is no audio/ Taptic feedback for pressing buttons, especially dial buttons? Everything screams inaccessible, in an accessibility feature nonetheless! Furthermore, does Apple realise that in other languages, the (custom) phone number button in the call app does not show the full text, only part of the word, making it very confusing and relying on memory rather than visual cues, which should be the priority of an accessibility feature like this. And that is when is set at the minimum text size the feature offers. And another general across this launcher: confirmation screens for actions are exaggerated rather than minimised in relation to the normal mode. What I mean. Trying to call for example, when u press on a contact, it then takes you to another screen, needing to confirm with yet again a different placed button twice, before actually carrying out the function. And this is across the whole feature. Expectedly, both my parents when trying most of the app end up just waiting at a pre confirmation screen expecting that what the buttons they pressed to have been doing. Isn’t the point of accessible design creating obvious cues, like visually large and contrast full buttons to minimise further, learning curve requiring actions? This needs a more serious engagement from Apple, hugely
This is great!
Perfect set up for seniors or young kids you want to control content.
if you have something like an iPhone SE, and clicking the power button 3 times to exit doesn't work, hold the power button and up/down volume to exit the menu
I tried this and it was amazing!
But when i tried getting out i couldn’t then i tried watching a video on my iphone but yea it’s great
Nice Video
Ngl an iPhone is quite easy to use but it’s understandable for grandparents who can see well
Assistive Access is a fun idea. Maybe one day i can use it on my iPad. Btw im using my mom’s account. So mom, if you see a comment you never wrote, im very furious at you!
Please make it so we can use this feature if we have a letter code 🙏🏻
How to watch Photos and Videos in Landscape Mode ???? Also how to blend out the Return button if I watch a movie on Netflix for example ???
I like this
Apple finally added a back button💀
This is a fantastic feature that I’m now learning how to use for my 11 year old on her first phone. I wanted to know…can she still use Apple Pay on her iPhone SE? I can’t seem to get it to work.

When I tested this and Selected "All Contacts" for messaging and phone, it only gave me iMessage Contacts and FaceTime Contacts, not all my Contacts.
I also have a settings choice not shown in this video called "Everyone", but that doesn't appear to do anything on iOS 17.1.2
Widgets and Shortcuts can't be added
Calls and messages can be received from everyone, from all contacts in the Contacts app, or from selected contacts, in Assistive Access.

i have an adult daughter with a disability. She can use her phone with no problems. Trouble is she stays up very late into the night on her phone. I have tried asking, begging, threatening, making deals with her to get off the phone earlier and go to bed. Its not working. I know that she will give up and go to bed earlier if the phone is deactivated at a certain time. But I cannot figure oiut how to do this without buying additional apps. We have Verizon, she has an iphone 11 and i have a samsung. How can I do this free so that her phone shuts off at a cetrtain time

This is really useless until the Messages app has a setting to allow replying to all contacts. I don’t understand why the Phone app has this setting but the messages app does not.
It does have this feature in 17.1 👍
@@quinnyamehmusillo7374 it doesn’t allow you to reply to all contacts. I’m on 17.3 beta and it still doesn’t.
it does

This doesn't actually help anybody set it up for themselves if they have poor eyesight. And I don't think that you should have to have a trusted source in order to be able to set some thing up. That's typically written by somebody who has a big family. I certainly would never trust somebody who was up doing home health care to set up my phone. Nor would I trust somebody working at a nursing home. They may or may not have good intentions. So having to rely on somebody else is a big flaw.
