One thing that would be still a game changer is to be able to change my notification tones in a certain focus mode. let's say: I have one focus set and the ringtone is a different one from another.
Should have just left the do not disturb alone. The old way was much easier and worked better. When it was on and off , this new focus when set up still Have spam calls come through. Just stop making things so complicated when a no / off button will do.
My modus operandi is to delete phone calls unless they have left a voicemail. That’s the way it was done when we had the old style answering machines. If they have something important to say, they will leave a message. If it’s spam, they get deleted in the mass deletion.
I would love Focus filter for dual sim. When personal focus is on; only calls from personal is allowed. Work calls only come through when work focus is on. Also, text notifications and missed calls from work line doesn’t show in Notification Center or Lock Screen. I had my work line on my iPhone, but I couldn’t stand seeing missed calls and texts in my notifications when I with my family. I ended up getting a used Pixel for work calls/texts. That way I can fully focus on my family when I should. The only downside has been forgetting my work phone at home and the office is 40 miles away.
Would it be possible to add an option - “allow calls from” and “recieve messages from” according to the chosen SIM card (when using multiple SIMs in iPhone)? That would be sooooo helpful for optimizing the work/life balance.
Not happy that I can’t just hit do not disturb like I did before and I’m done with it. These complicated options defeats the purpose. Who asked for this change??😕

Is there a way of silenced notifications not coming through to notification centre? Even though they don’t ping they’re still there in a section that says they’ve been muted due to the focus mode however I still end up clicking them and would prefer them to not come through entirely until my focus status changes

Hey Apple. Could you please add a feature that blocks access to certain apps when a particular focus setting is switched on? For example, I'd like to stop doomscrolling on instagram and linkedin after 10 at night and before 11 in the morning, so I would like to set a focus grouping that completely blocks those apps during those times. Note: I do not want the timelimit setting. That is too easy to bypass! Please tell me this feature is in production? I am at the mercy of my device these days. I preferred the old way. It’s frustrating that now some of my calls aren’t getting through, which causes issues with people trying to reach me. I wish there was an option to silence only the contacts I don’t want to hear from, instead of having to choose each contact I want notifications for. Please consider making a change.

I love focus mode. I made one that triggers automatically when I get into work, it mutes my phone and puts it in DND so I don’t get interrupted during meetings. It switches off automatically when I leave work.

My phone will not ring and takes call straight to voice mail. Somehow Focus suddenly appeared on my I Phone and i cannot get the ringer to sound for an incoming call. this way is so much easier the the way you used to have to do it with shortcuts i used shortcuts once with a focus and when i was done the wallpaper didnt switch back to my original wallpaper so i had to delete the shortcuts

Feeling like this is half deployed. A proper work mode would be good. I’d like to only see my work text conversations when I’m on the clock/slightly before after. When I’m off I’d like to reduce the risk of calling or texting a client by mistake by having them virtually off of my contact list. I don’t want to call, and I don’t want to be called by coworkers, clients, etc at 9pm on a Friday. Put it into a folder that I can check if I want to. In general the way i use my phone I’d like a work profile and a casual profile. Idk. Get it done plz. Lol
When I enable low power mode filter for my do not disturb focus , it enables it when the focus turns on but does not disable it when the focus ends. Any fix ?

When you get a new iPhone after not having one for many years and decide to restore it from your iPad backup where the iPad has always been on Do Not Disturb, guess what happens? No notification sounds from the new iPhone and a lot of confusion! So you go into settings to try and fix it but instead of an option to turn it off there are these strange ‘focus’ things you have to set up! So I added calls and messages there. I wonder if it will ring now? Have to wait and see 😅

Used to be so good until apple ruined it with their new update that gutted Do Not Disturb, why do we need all these focuses? Just have a do not disturb that actually works. Nothing is silenced even though I tell it to be silenced, thank god there is still an option to silence notifications with a setting since DND is useless now.

the work profile does not work. I customized so that only notifications from one particular app are allowed but I still get notifications from WhatsApp even though the WhatApp app is not in the allowed list

I'm a dingbat so can't remember the word "focus" so sleep focus becomes "hey siri activate sleep mode" and siri being so smart knows to use sleep focus.
You can go to settings and choose a different language for your keyboard for example Spanish or Korean (I don't think a standard qwrty keyboard could ever convey Mandarin, Cantonese, etc. 🖊📲) and > use these like you would English 🛸have fun!!

Confusing. I select “sleep” and don’t know how to set a time range. Make it more user friendly. It’s too complicated.

You need to schedule each day separately.
So from 7:00 pm till 7 pm Friday and then again for Saturday, Sunday until 7am Monday.

this way is so much easier the the way you used to have to do it with shortcuts i used shortcuts once with a focus and when i was done the wallpaper didnt switch back to my original wallpaper so i had to delete the shortcuts

I like using it for custom icon profiles (through select home screen pages) and using shortcuts automation to detect when its on for a custom wallpaper automation
Unnecessarily complex!!! We just want to very simply turn all notifications on and off... ios16 makes it feel like we're being forced into focus!
Feeling like this is half deployed. A proper work mode would be good. I’d like to only see my work text conversations when I’m on the clock/slightly before after. When I’m off I’d like to reduce the risk of calling or texting a client by mistake by having them virtually off of my contact list. I don’t want to call, and I don’t want to be called by coworkers, clients, etc at 9pm on a Friday. Put it into a folder that I can check if I want to. In general the way i use my phone I’d like a work profile and a casual profile. Idk. Get it done plz. Lol
a complicated way to miss a call or notification you shouldn’t and to add anxiety for when in fact you didn’t.

When I enable low power mode filter for my do not disturb focus , it enables it when the focus turns on but does not disable it when the focus ends. Any fix ?

This is too complicated - before I could just switch on focus and get some peace. Now I have to turn my phone off unless I do a training course.
When you get a new iPhone after not having one for many years and decide to restore it from your iPad backup where the iPad has always been on Do Not Disturb, guess what happens? No notification sounds from the new iPhone and a lot of confusion! So you go into settings to try and fix it but instead of an option to turn it off there are these strange ‘focus’ things you have to set up! So I added calls and messages there. I wonder if it will ring now? Have to wait and see 😅

Used to be so good until apple ruined it with their new update that gutted Do Not Disturb, why do we need all these focuses? Just have a do not disturb that actually works. Nothing is silenced even though I tell it to be silenced, thank god there is still an option to silence notifications with a setting since DND is useless now.
Question: If I activate do not disturb focus the alarm clocks won’t sound????

Part of what is great about using Focus is deciding when it works for you and when you’d rather get all of your notifications front and center. We can help with that!

the work profile does not work. I customized so that only notifications from one particular app are allowed but I still get notifications from WhatsApp even though the WhatApp app is not in the allowed list

Focus is the best feature Apple ever created. I use it all time, and mix it with wallpapers, smart lists/reminders, main screen etc... so good!!

glad you can figure out how to use it. Any way I can just turn the thing off? I no longer get a ring on incoming calls. They go straight to voicemail and I cannot figure out how to turn the phone ring feature on.
My personal focus which I have a restricted selected people I receive notification from and chose to only get calls from these allowed people DONT WORK 😮

I'm a dingbat so can't remember the word "focus" so sleep focus becomes "hey siri activate sleep mode" and siri being so smart knows to use sleep focus.

You can go to settings and choose a different language for your keyboard for example Spanish or Korean (I don't think a standard qwrty keyboard could ever convey Mandarin, Cantonese, etc. 🖊📲) and > use these like you would English 🛸have fun!!
