    This is great! I honestly thought I was going to be done for and drop $$$$$$$ but, this I can do. The gasket is $20 so, that’s all I’m gonna play it safe with and change out. I have seen a lot of riders with Fz8’s have the whole job ready to go and all apart to realize the gasket is needed.

      @Doge di Amalfi they use this trick to sell you a motorcycle with worn plates which slip..sand them down will make the plates do not slip for a while.

    Nice video! I have a 1985 Nighthawk and mine just started having a rough noise when I switch down to 1st from neutral. Afraid to ride it till I figure if it's a major problem or not. After it is in 1st no problem that I can tell but want to make sure.

    Hello I’m stuck at a NY motel with slipping clutch on my new 2002 voyager (500) miles with hydraulic clutch
    After 3 day at a shop and $300 later not fixed ! OK I learned you have to make free play when you bleed !

    • @Amotorcyclenut
      @Amotorcyclenut  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would be checking the return bleed hole in the master cylinder. It's the really small and if its plugged the clutch won't release all the way. Here is a video of a front break master cylinder with the same problem. It works the same way. th-cam.com/video/PlQTcLEAHjM/w-d-xo.html

    Gunna try it on my bike, it's just starting to slip. If you get another 10K miles on a road bike could you expect the same on a plated dirt bike? A 08 KTM EXCR 530 is what I have and do 90% dirt 10% road riding.

    I just picked up a 2006 Honda Shadow Sabre 1100 and the clutch does not engage until the lever is fully out. I tried adjusting at the lower cable and lever and no change. Is this a sign of a worn clutch or springs? Could the clutch lifter lever be bad?

    SIR DOES THIS CANCEL OUT THE NOISE PROBEM IN THE CLUTCH CASE, WHILE HOLDING THE CLUTCH LEVER. REGARDS 🙏🏼🕊️

    • @Amotorcyclenut
      @Amotorcyclenut  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If the noise is from the clutch slipping it will, but if you have a bad bearing or some other problem it will not.

    Im trying to find out of that is the problem I have (slipping clutch) when I drive normally I have no problem, but when I try to accelerate hard, specially in 3 gear and above it takes a lot of Rpm but wont pull right away, my logic tells me it should be a slipping clutch or too loose springs, but I dunno my clutch is`t that old, changes the plates like 15K miles ago could it just be the springs or maybe somthing els ? karburators or valves ?

    • @Dopemon
      @Dopemon 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Its the clutch i have the same problem sand them down a lil bit and u should be fine

    • @chriscs9080
      @chriscs9080 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sand the steel plates may help but you have you check the main plates are worn and also the springs . If you have a workshop manual it tells you the limit for each part .

    hmm can i reuse the gasket

    • @Amotorcyclenut
      @Amotorcyclenut  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Nighthawk has a O-ring on that cover so it can be reuse if it isn't damaged, but if there is a gasket you should replace it or it is likely to leak.

    2013 Yamaha FZ8 just curious as to scrubbing them down? Do you do both sides of each plate ?

    • @Amotorcyclenut
      @Amotorcyclenut  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, both sides of the metal plates only!

    • @trnyc7518

      Thanks brother I missed video and it wouldn’t play again. Lol as I’m typing this it pops back on ✌🏼. Appreciate it cause I’m about to start it next week. You don’t think it’s better to just buy new plates?

    • @trnyc7518
      @trnyc7518 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      A Motorcycle Nut ya think I can get away with either your way on my yammi FZ8 or just order new friction plate kit n gasket?

    • @trnyc7518
      @trnyc7518 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m due for oil change and since I’m ready n have everything I’m gonna give your way a shot and skip buying the kit w springs n all. I’ll definitely order the aluminum crush gasket though from yammi. Great video! Thanks in advance

    How do you know if your clutch is slipping?

    • @Amotorcyclenut
      @Amotorcyclenut  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      If the engine will rev up under load (like going up a hill in 4, or 5th gear) and not accelerate the vehicle. If that is the case, then properly adjust your clutch and clutch cable. If that does not solve your problem then you can try what you saw in this video.

    • @laurellondon6886
      @laurellondon6886 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      You'll first notice it in higher gears, you'll pull the clutch in, shift up, let the clutch out while giving it throttle... And you're not going any faster. Your bike will be revving and complaining quite loudly, and if the slippage is just beginning it'll probably catch hold and go on like nothing even happened. I must admit that if you're not expecting it, especially if you're trying to get somewhere quickly, it's pretty disconcerting and can be a little frightening!

      This is exactly what my v star just started doing. I’m going to adjust the clutch first and if it doesn’t help I will try this.
