Whirlpool Cabrio Won't Start Issue - Lid lock flashes

I had to turn off comments because there were just too much idiotic and misleading information being posted.
The problem was the sensor motor. The problem was definitely not the lid lock.
If you can run a rinse or spin cycle, then the problem is not the lid lock.
I had a technician come out and look at it and he determined it was the sensor motor. Over $200 to replace.
We bought a completely different washer instead and apparently this is a common issue with these washers.
We ended up buying a new GE non-HE washer. We chose not to fix this.
So again, the problem was the sensor motor: this is the sensor that determines the load size. It failed and the machine couldn't get to the next part of the cycle.
IT WAS NOT THE LID LOCK
We are much happier with our old fashion GE.
