    A few notes about this video:
    1. the blanket has an automatic switch off when the time has elapsed, so there is no concern about falling asleep and actually turning into a jacket potato.
    2. This particular blanket comes with a 30-day money back guarantee which is pretty cool - try it, don't like it, return it.
    3. Re: EMF - there is a GREAT comment about this below - look for John Foley's comment, he's a Physics Teacher!
    4. The running costs are around 50p per hour.
    5. I am going to do a test on a friend with the calorie burn, someone who isn't as active as me - I will add the results here.

    I have used two other sauna blankets. I was immediately relieved of severe clinical depression. It's over 2 months right now that my mood has remained good. It's a complete miracle in my life! I also have a very clean diet which I'm sure helps. But if you have depression, get a sauna blanket if at all possible!

      @@LauraTryUK I have had the blanket for a few weeks now. I use it several times a week. It felt super hot the first time I used it. The setting was on 5. After a few times I was comfortable to bump it to 6. The one place on my body that becomes uncomfortable is my lower back at the top of my butt. 😂 I have to protect and cushion that area more.
      I absolutely love the blanket and feel amazing after using it. Very refreshed. I don’t sweat as much as I thought but not willing to turn up the volume quite yet. I have arthritis so it’s fantastic for my joints.

    Love that you've reviewed this sauna blanket Laura 😁 I was looking to buy one but found a Firzone portable infrared sauna which is like a human size giant cool bag with a chair inside 🤣 I look rather ridiculous in it with my head poking out the top but oh my - I absolutely love it! I sweat buckets in it 🔥 and feel incredibly relaxed during and afterwards. So happy I bought it. I have a cold shower straight after 30mins in the sauna and feel really good. I have no idea how it affects my physiology in terms of calories burned/heat shock proteins/HRV etc but mentally I can certainly feel a difference for relaxation and stress relief so I'm happy with that 😊

    • @jasonfoster9118
      @jasonfoster9118 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I have one of those. It's not perfect but it gets the job done. The only complaint I have about mine is that the steam can actually burn the skin and no matter the power setting, it just seems to go full steam ahead and I have to keep opening it to let some of the heat out starting around the 15 minute mark. You should try it during a prolonged fast. It really is a comfort on an empty stomach and you'll find your heat tolerance is much higher without excess body heat from food calories.

    • @LauraTryUK
      @LauraTryUK  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hey Joanne, I love the sound of your sauna - sounds EPIC!

Love the idea of the blanket though, as it can travel more easily... yet wonder about the phthalates / toxins being released from the highly-heated interior sleeve (made of rubbery plastics). I am in the US and have a higher dose sauna blanket and I LOVE it. I recently got rosacea so quit using it for a month and then decide it probably does more good than harm. Higher Dose makes terrycloth towel bag inserts that are AMAZING! No clothes needed! I have 2 and I flip them inside out and hang to dry, then use the dry side again, so 2 uses out of each towel. SO glad I spent the extra on the towel liners.
    One thing I don’t understand: how does infrared light get through a towel or clothes?? Anyone know?

    A year late - Hoping you see and reply if you're still using a blanket. Do you miss having your head inside the full sauna? I am surprised I can't find comments about this anywhere. Just from an overall experience standpoint I feel like the head out may ruin it a bit.

      Hey greg - never too late.
      I actually lent the blanket to a friend who was training for a desert marathon - she used it to do heat acclimation.
      The blanket isn't like a regular sauna, I really enjoy that whole experience, however, this is really great for home use and gets really hot!
      I don't miss not having my head warm/hot when using this because of the intense sweat.

    Hi LT, fab video as always, however I am a bit confused about this product, to me it looks like a double sided heater blanket as opposed to being an IR cocoon as I cannot see how the light can breakthrough the inner lining in the first place then through your clothing to eventually penetrate your skin? If somebody can clarify that for me I would be most grateful as I am looking for a IR sauna solution.

      Infrared is outside of the spectrum of radiation that we humans can see. The wave lengths are too long. Similar but at the other extreme from ultra violet or micro waves. They are too short. Here is an article i copied " What produces infrared radiation? Common natural sources are solar radiation and fire. Common artificial sources include heating devices, and infrared lamps and in the home and in infrared saunas for health purposes. Industrial sources of heat such as steel/iron production also fall into the infrared region."

      Hi James,
      Infrared is part of the electromagnetic spectrum (from gamma waves to radio waves), as is the visible light, x-ray.
      I imagine, just as radio waves are able to penetrate concrete, so can Infrared penetrate cloth cover.

  • @MikeMurphChops

    I really don't get how it penetrates your skin more when the light is between the lining of the blanket and you are wearing clothes , light doesn't actually reach your skin. I get that its hot but....hmmm.

    • @maxlarocca78
      @maxlarocca78 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Radiant energy ...is that not just heat ? like a regular sauna

    • @steinshaw2490
      @steinshaw2490 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think the idea is that there are folds of skin that are not present when laying down and therefor not exposed to the energy. I don't think it goes that deep. Also the wood of the bench probably blocks or absorbs more of the light/energy.

    • @LauraTryUK
      @LauraTryUK  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I've got to be honest Mike, I don't fully understand it. I understand the infrared saunas, but the clothes bit confusing me. I will try and find an answer for you and get back to you 👌

    • @igorgasperec
      @igorgasperec ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@steinshaw2490 if still relevant this is the answer from chat GPT open AI: Long wave infrared (IR) light can penetrate some fabrics, depending on their composition and thickness. Generally, thinner and more breathable fabrics allow more infrared radiation to pass through, while thicker and denser fabrics block more of the radiation.
      If you are wearing clothes while using an infrared blanket powered by far infrared light, the level of penetration of the infrared radiation will depend on the fabric of the clothing, the thickness of the fabric, and the distance between the blanket and your skin.
      However, it's important to note that the human body is itself a source of infrared radiation, and the amount of infrared radiation emitted by the body is influenced by factors such as body temperature and metabolic rate. This means that even if the infrared radiation from the blanket is partially blocked by clothing, your body will still emit and receive infrared radiation.
      In general, far infrared radiation is believed to be safe and can have beneficial effects on the body, such as improving blood circulation and reducing inflammation. However, it's always a good idea to follow the manufacturer's instructions and use caution when using any kind of heat therapy. If you have any concerns about the safety of using an infrared blanket, it's best to consult with a healthcare professional.

      @@LauraTryUK Yes, I have watched the video "No Sauna, No Problem." And sorta tried it last night but we are in the middle of a severe drought and are metering out our water for only essential uses. Otherwise, I think I would do that several times per week. Looking into the research on Contrast Bath Therapy, it looks like going back and forth between hot and cold is very beneficial, so that will be my long term goal. With that said, I think an outdoor sauna with a cold tub standing by is the way for me...I cannot see having 2 bath tubs, one for each. ;-)

    I have been. using an infrared sauna blanket for every day for about two months. I have sweat a lot each time so that my clothes/or towels are drenched. Three days ago, I came out of my 40 minute session totally dry! The next day I was barely damp and this morning again barely damp, drying out in room temperature within 10 minutes. This is very strange for me considering how soaked with sweat I have been all other times. Do you have any thoughts about why this might happen. The blanket seems to be working normally with the heat and timers and lights all working. I set it to the top heat of 70 on this blanket. Than you for any advice or suggestions.
