    The way you counted liberties at the end was confusing- because liberty “one” was also an Atari, meaning white had to respond and it wouldn’t actually count as a liberty race.
    And you never counted the last liberty (the one on the top right corner).
    These errors canceled out and it was still 4 liberties to 3, but it threw me off a bit trying to understand how the capture race worked.

    I love how chat trolled the guy who came in late asking who the "noobs" were. 🤣

    Should be noted that this was a televised game with special time controls. 30 seconds per move, plus 10x1 min bonus periods that are lost as soon as they enter a bonus period (different from normal byo-yomi periods)
    That's still a lot of time for amateurs, so every lesson in this video is 100% relevant, but in other games pros are still making bleep-bloop style work, because they have the hours of deep reading time to back it up.

    Brilliant example of Shibano and why dwyrin loves influence games. The best part, I think, is that dwyrin continues to be able to explain pro games on a level even the DDK (like me) can understand. It does give me tremendous respect for the Pros... I can't play at that level nor do I think I could without sacrificing most of my free time/life... but it's good to see these things because I do learn from them. It's also very cool to see that heavy influence is still trumping the territorial style of the machine learning systems in human play. I wonder if humans will be able to emulate the territorial style of it it take too much computational power to achieve that level of play.

      Good Old Shitty Cakes ... I love Shibano. You've given me so much Dwyrin. But Shibano Toramaru is by far the best. I hope he becomes Japan's Lee Sedol. Japan needs a hero -- Yuta just ain't cutting it Internationally. Too busy losing to Park and Ke Jie when it counts. I can't read well enough to play his style, but I've had some fun games trying it.

    I’d think out of anyone Cho could pick up alphago style, he’s a “shinogi” expert.

      Because it doesn't work... And I think Cho told him after the game that he hallucinated thinking it works

    I think another reason that white did not start the fight immediately at around 15:00 is because the cutting black stone has a ladder breaker in the lower left so the fight favors black heavily.

    Thanks for the video Dwyrin! How are the Blue Label stones that you got? I was thinking of buying some (I've only used glass and yunzi up till now), but was hesitant because Kuroki's website describes them as being a lower quality standard than their other stones. I don't really care about grain or color, but I just wanted to check if you could feel any defects in the shape of the stones? I dislike how my yunzi and glass stones can vary in shape and wanted to avoid that in my next equipment upgrade. Thanks!

    Just curious why do you like to go over pro games on a real board and not on a computer

    • @drivejapan6293
      @drivejapan6293 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would think the same reason why people like to play on a real board over a computer. There is something satisfying about it. Just that its not always practical so save it for the pro games.
