    Finished watching the game and yes, this is the Cho Chikun I try to know and love, thanks! Best thing about Cho Chikun of course is how he scratches his head, complains about the game, wipes his brow with a handkercheif in difficult situations,, tut-tuts his own moves and then destroys the opponent (not always). I also really appreciate this lecture, style it's what makes so many of your videos so rewatchable.

    Congratulations to Your 200th Go Lecture! It is a pleasure to watch and learn from your lessons - even in far far away from a go-game culture here in Germany.

    52:40 -- the position is called triple ko ... It results in an automatic tie. I believe that Lee Sedol try to pull something off like that against alpha go in 2016 game #3...but failed

    I love these lectures, but I think I prefer the original lectures he does on a PC because the pace is faster and I felt I learnt better. on the PC he can quickly show different combinations of stones, and use the tools to indicate special points. He can put the points down as quickly as he thinks about it. It suits my style of learning.

    I have only just reached sdk on ogs ... +yet I think I see something @ [48:30] ... an alternate move to the "only" response ... on this board it would be "yi 16" or "1 16" but on ogs goban is Q19 ... this move would lead to capture as it is a play inside the Tiger's Mouth ... but then white just ataris the capture stone and black is then down to 1 liberty in groups connected by a move chain that leads to extermination.
    Unless I am not seeing something at the blackbelt level because I am only single digit kyu.

  • @jeffk1722
    @jeffk1722 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nick, these are great lessons! Just a thought... maybe you could have a couple small buckets with several black and white stones marked with yellow or some color to denote that it's an "analysis" stone, and the actual game would not have the yellow marks.

    Great video! I loved the surprise ending. Since it's not as common these days I would've loved to have seen a game featuring Cho Chikun's fondness for the 3-3 point openings, he did that a lot back in the 80's, or at least a mention of it :) Also, watching this game I kept asking myself which moves he might have slapped himself in the cheek after.

    Love the 8-5 move from Cho. I immediately knew he would play there because I am just as crazy with my style. Same thing when my group gets in trouble, I tenuki to attack. Ha! This is like watching me as 9P.

    anyone know why Japanese rules never implemented the super ko rule or why American rules did?
    like to Japanese, they would rather have a game go void at that point but to American's they would rather you had to keep playing I guess?

    If you do not know the name of Cho Chikun, then you cannot consider yourself a serious student of Go. Hell, you shouldn't even be a Go player...
