@rockykanaka there's a short I've watched where someone fostered/adopted one American bull dog puppy (pit bull?) And then a second pit bull puppy, both blind, and one thing she did was put hula hoop on them - attached in some way to their harness - so that they wouldn't bump into walls or whatever.

I had a deaf/blind Doxie. Never fear having a deaf/ blind dogs. You *easily* can train them with texture and smell. They're never completely deaf. My Doxie could hear when I whistled. I rescued a blind deaf black lab years ago. He was about dead from malnutrition. He ended up being the sweetest smart dog I’ve ever had. . I created a type of sign language by tapping the top of his nose. He was all lab and loved to play fetch. I had to tap him on the nose to let him know the ball was thrown. He’d take off/start out in small circles and spread out until he hit the scent. Most didn’t even know he was handicapped because he knew our property so well. This was unfortunately before everyone had video cameras. His name was marvelous Marvin. I still get emotional telling his story.

I’m a senior citizen and really can not afford to own a dog because of the cost of food and health care. I have found the perfect solution for me…I foster small dogs from my local rescue center. The dogs I foster usually have a health issue or need longer to recover from surgery and I’m their quiet recovery place. My 1st foster was a 10 year old Miniature Pinscher who had heart worms and she was with me five months and recovered and was adopted. Fostering is an excellent way to help your local rescue group and it’s so rewarding.

I do emergency fosters. Usually they are with me between 2 weeks to 2 months, no longer coz I do too much traveling. The pure bred dogs get adopted fairly quickly but the mixed breed usually takes longer. My current foster is a 8 months old sweet boy who is extremely loving and sweet. I am always heart broken when they leaves. Cried lots but I gotta let them go no matter how wonderful they are and how much I love them. My job is to heal them physically and mentally with lots of love and attention. Please spare some time to help a life. It is just a few weeks or months but you would have save a life. Respect fosters coz the emotional up and down is torturing, loving them and then letting them go is extremely hard.

It's SO palpable that it comes through the screen practically, lol. (I've even found myself using some of his techniques on struggling humans with brilliant results. All the dogs just melt into his love, no matter how shut-down or what trauma they're often experiencing. Rocky's energy is always right on point for the needs of each different soul. He has a gift.

@@asterismos5451 Touch commands, I imagine, since visual and audio commands are useless. With a harness and a lead, dogs can pick up on a lot of body language. A light tap or pressure on the lower back to indicate "sit," a slight pull on the lead for "come/follow," and the like. Some things might require more context for the dog to understand, but you should be able to get the basics across with a little time, patience, and positive reinforcement. Having a second dog to help get the message across would be very helpful, as they can pick up the commands the impaired dog misses and guide them with their bodies and touch... and the comfort to them of having another dog around for companionship is immeasurable.

Just watched Sister's episode. Sweet girl. A few years ago I adopted a smallish terror? Looked a little like a Griffin. He was 8, blind, deaf, had CHF, arthritis and dental issues. Had to pull all his front teeth so his tongue stuck out all the time! I thought I would give him a couple of months of love and peace before he crossed the rainbow bridge. I had him for 1 1/2 yrs! Best thing I ever did. He was a lot of work but I learned so much from him. The shelter named him Roscoe. It was perfect! The staff cryed when I took him home
They thought he would stay there for the rest of his life. I'll send a photo if I can. Adopt special needs pets! They are so worth it!

I fostered him, but it was really after only a week or so that I knew in my heart I wouldn't be able to let him go. He's just turned three and living his best life. It's my job to make sure that despite someone treating him like a piece of irrelevant garbage as a baby, he gets to experience as many happy, fun moments, as much love and affection as he can stand, and the security of knowing he's extremely loved and wanted.

Definitely domesticated kittens there! The ears are the dead giveaway - the points on bobcats looks like a black rose thorn sticking up from the ear, and the back edge of the ear is rimmed with black. Those scared babies have normal kitten ears. Things that are harder to tell because there’s more overlap with domestic cats - if these were bobcats, the tail would be shorter, the jaw/jowl more prominent, and they’d have spots instead of stripes.

I wish you get well. I also wish I can adopt pets once I leave a toxic and abusive environment. Housing is expensive and most housing and apartment rentals do not allow dogs, including big dogs. I outgrown my parents and their toxic narcissism has done damaged to my health, but the housing crisis has made me overstay and fear for my health so I cannot commit to a pet. Difficult to find a place.

This is a dog that breaks my heart . I have had a 15 year old deaf and a 13 year old blind dog but imagine a dog that is both deaf and blind being in a shelter .. poor baby i hope she gets a good home

She doesn't know she's blind/deaf. She only knows what she smells, tastes, and feels. I'd surmise that it needs to be known whether or not she knows what stairs are and how to negotiate them. Sweet girl. A gentle companion animal would really benefit her as well.

I'm only 7 minutes in and I can already tell she's been bred multiple times and when she fully lost her site the original owners got rid of her.... That makes me sad and I hope she gets the home she deserves. 😢❤❤❤

My first foster dog was a 4-year old blind dog found running on the highway. My third foster was a 7 month old, totally deaf and blind who came from a shelter (all the siblings were deaf he was the only one deaf and blind.) He was fearless, ran until he hit the wall or his whiskers felt something. He had the perimeter of the yard figured out in just a couple of hours. They both got amazing homes and are living their best life.

I can’t tell you how awesome I think you are. I have a 17-year-old Jack Russell has been blind for two years and it’s been hard as having a newborn baby. I appreciate everything you do. You are an incredible human being with a brilliant heart. Thank you.

She is such a gentle dog. She is definitely blind and deaf but she's handling it well. Obviously she's been that way for a while. She's definitely lacking attention because when you showed her attention she was whining for it when you left her alone. I have a 100% deaf gog and he's night blind. He's an old man because he's a 17 year old pitbull I rescued 15 years ago

That was the sweetest reaction ever! From total silence, darkness and loneliness to "OMG! It's a people! It's a people!!!" Then her cries when she was sure she was all alone again. Oh, my heart aches for her. Maybe when she's adopted (and can be monitored in it) something like a Thundershirt would help her. She would feel that pressure and maybe not feel so anxious?

To hear her cry and paw and the door wanting desperately to find her people, is so heartbreaking. I’ve owned deaf and blind dogs, and they are the most loving animals, and they absolutely live full happy lives!

God bless and protect you, sweet, beautiful Sissy. I'm looking forward to hearing that a wonderful forever family adopted you so that you can have the loving home that all dogs deserve. Thank you, Rocky, for sitting with Sissy and making her feel loved. She needed that so badly, but I hope she has more for the rest of her life.❤❤❤

I live in Australia, otherwise I would adopt her in a heartbeat. Having worked with people who have dual sensory impairments, she would have the best life with my family. She is so precious xxx
