I had an Akita mix several years ago he was teased bad someone gave him a donut with my permission it turned him around he thought anyone with a bag was food and before I knew it he slowly began to trust people
I am finally in assisted housing after being homeless for two years. When a choice between me and my dog eating came up,my dog ate. When she needed to go to the vet, I begged for money. When she was cold, she wore my coat and I went cold. I absolutely can NOT understand how someone could use the excuse of homelessness to hurt their animal like this. I know I sound harsh, but I have been there. I did my utmost to make sure my dog didn’t suffer because of my circumstances. If you’re not willing to put them first, you don’t deserve them.
Your story brought tears to my eyes. You are so kind and loving and your dog is your child your friend and who will love you no matter what. So glad you have a home now. No one should be homeless. Stay safe and I wish you and your dog the best now. 👍🙂
Hey bubbles , thank you for sharing your story . I agree if someone, can’t love their forever friend they don’t deserve the forever love . God bless you ❤❤❤ good luck with everything ❤❤❤
Homeless for years with dogs, and homeless longer because it's so hard to work and find a place to live with a dog. Been off the street for 6 years and making a decent living but still about to be homeless again because my rental was sold and can't find another quickly enough that takes dogs!
We had a dog that my dad adopted a long time ago. She had been left, attached to a pole on a rainy/stormy night. It took her a year+ to get used getting into a car without shaking like a leaf and even longer to not be scared by rain or thunder. I miss her, she was a great family member.
I worked for years helping traumatized dogs & dogs with behavioral issues. Very often, singing to a shut down or defensive dog was what worked to gain their trust. Good work, Rocky!
Could you please help me? I adopted two puppies in February (Lucio and Valentina), both used to eat their poop, but now just Lucio still does it. His former "owner" abused from him by not feeding him nor his mom 😔I tried with pills to get rid of parasites, gave him vitamins to increase calories to his diet, but I guess it tasted good to him that used to make him go run to eat his poop. He is still very defensive and aggressive when it's time to eat with my other pets, sometimes also with water with his sister Valentina and my 2 cats. It worries me that he gets parvovirus from eating his or my other babies poop, I know it can take a lot to know well the situation but I hope there's something I can do to help him to not feel he has to do that 🙏🏻
Fourteen years ago, I adopted a Shih Tzu mix. When I first got him, he found every nook and cranny to escape my fenced-in back yard. It never occurred to me to return him to the shelter. He eventually became my best friend and companion. I lost him earlier this year to heart failure. He was 17 years old. I can still visualize him as a young dog running around the yard with his hair flying! I hope I gave him a better life, and I am sure he gave me a better life. RIP Charlie ❤
Decades ago my roommates and I adopted a cat from the shelter, but when we got her home, she ran and his under the beds, chairs, etc. and was totally unapproachable. A couple days after she came home we went into the living room to sit and put on a Bob Dylan record. Within minutes she came out of her hiding place and crawled in my lap. Music is magic.
My cat used to get herself super-stressed. Playing soft piano music was the very best thing to calm her down. Within 20-30 mins she'd be far more relaxed, and coming for cuddles. Music really is amazing.
In England they have a street vet program for homeless with dogs. They recognize the need the homeless have to own dogs for companionship and improvement in mental health. They love their dogs and with free healthcare including surgeries they make every effort to make and keep their appointments. Talking to them they say that their dogs are their whole world and they would feel very alone without them.
Rocky, my neighbors moved to Florida. They took the kids and dogs but they left 3 cats. I earned the trust of these 3 cats. I would sit outside on my porch and play with them. Neighbors brought me food for them. They were the sweetest cats. I found homes for 2 of them and the third one walked in my back door and never left. Everybody loves her. ❤ I also had another cat. Lol.
That's awful to hear your neighbours did that and wonderful to hear you saved the cats. 🙏 Too many people do this! I've seen it far too often. The poor animal watches the humans pack up and just leave them there. It's absolutely despicable. I've rescued and adopted 3 cats throughout my life, so far, who suffered through exactly this. My horrible ex-father-in-law casually told me he did this. I raced over to the house he'd left. His beautiful girl was crying outside the empty house she'd been locked out of. Now she's mine and the ex and his awful dad are locked outside of our house 😁😻👍. Cat victory! Truffles (Truffy-doo) and my other cat, Moose are the most precious gifts in my life. ❤
Bless your kind heart for taking care of these cats. I don’t see how people can just leave animals to fend themselves. All animals want is love . Love n kindness are the easiest things we can do. 🙏🏻
I love all animals-- I've always had a dog unless I was in mourning- not ready. However, I feel so bad for cats. People seem to think they'll be fine if they just leave them when they move. But they aren't! They're cold, they're hungry, sometimes they're sick. I can't stand to see an animal without a home and someone to love.😪 Bless you for helping those sweet kitties❣
But genuinely asking, why put resources into a dog like this with limited shelter space? Why would anyone want a dog like this when they could have a safer dog?
@@erinerinerinOOO safer dog? Initially, She was scared because she didn't know if she could trust people. She came around quite quickly with a patient approach.
Because of all the times I’ve watched your videos, when I unexpectedly lost my 13 year old chihuahua mix I gave a lot of thought to checking out the local animal shelter with the possibility of adopting a senior small dog. Four different times I sat with a dog, sharing cut up chicken & I could not touch the dog. After two weeks I decided to adopt him. The first time he let me touch him was when the shelter workers wanted a photo of him with his new mom. Two days later he was curled up on my lap watching tv. It’s now a month later and he still has a lot of fear of strangers but is playful and affectionate with me. Thank you for inspiring me to sit with a dog for a few times before deciding if I had the patience to start over with a new dog.
He might have sensed your initial hesitance, completely understandable in the circumstance. Once you committed, so did he. They tend to be all in, once the first move is made.
My lab was a breeder dog that was sold, mistreated brutally. She was very shy to my husband, but let me do everything. After one year of patience and continued love, she finally let my husband in her tribe, now they are buddies, she is my shadow and we love her so much!
I have a Persian cat who sat in the bathtub( without water of course) for 11 months when I brought him home Fast forward 11 years, we are soulmates, and he was my therapy during covid. Love conquers all
NEVER leave your best friend/ baby behind. You are a failure as a human if you do that...a senior as well. So heartbreaking. Thank you for taking care of this beautiful lady!
I realize your comment is a month old, so sorry for being late to the party. We live in Florida, on the coast. Our critters are well taken care of. We wouldn’t even consider leaving one behind. In the case of hurricane, we are all ready. Every critter has its own carrier, all are marked for who goes where, and everyone knows where they are stored, and what to do. We have 5 adult humans, currently 4 dogs, 3 cats, and a ferret. We have practiced. Even in a fire, we can get all the critters out in under 5 minutes. Screw the house. All our “kids” are car trained, and except the ferret, good riders. Just 1 or 2 of us can do the deal, and get the babies safe. With 10 minutes, food and water bowls come with us. With an hour, they get beds, harnesses, leashes. With a few more minutes they get all that, and paperwork. We hang out for a cat 2, a cat 3 has us moving the babies. They don’t usually wear collars, and I guess thats bad. But, our kids have great recall, and follow commands.
@@stephaniefain1863 That's quite impressive! Most people aren't nearly that prepared, which is the precise reason so many animals get left behind and lost during a storm.
@@Susan-h9zI was thinking that earlier today when I was watching another video with Rocky. It's easy to love a creature that loves back unconditionally, but what about more complicated humans? To love and take care of the vulnerable in society?
@@Panthia_Poe such a good observation. I know that's the reason why it's hard to help people because every human has an ego and a concept of outside themselves that animals don't have and that's why they hold no grudges and they're so wonderful.
I'm a growna$$ man, and I about lost it when Waffles went from scared and growly to accepting you and putting her trust in you. Luckily my super spoiled rescue dog lifted his head up from my lap and share his squeaky toy to comfort me
I adopted a dog that was found abandoned in a basement after the owners had moved out 3 weeks prior to the Landlord finding her. Took awhile to rescue her as they were trying to find the original owners. Anyway she is an amazing dog. So loving and so sweet and might I add so spoiled. She has brought so much happiness and joy to my family and I just love her to pieces. Rescue dogs are the best ❤
How could they (whoever “they” is-landlord?) possibly think that finding the previous owner (the one who clearly abandoned her!!) could be a good idea!! They lost their chance to be her owners when they ditched her and didn’t even bother to surrender her to someone who could try to help her. Sickening!!
44:45 SHE SMILED!!! When you took off the collar and gently scratched her neck and she realized how good it felt, you can see the corner of her mouth lift up and the wrinkles around her cheek appear. You are like two angels who found each other and made friends. Thank you so much for doing this and everything you do 🙏🐕🐾
@@KathleenDanler I don't think Rocky 'just' goes into the kennel. I expect he studies the dog and how it reacts to him approaching the kennel. You can learn quite a bit about how stressed a dog is from watching it.
I so RESPECT the shelter & Staff! Rocky absolutely love your videos. I rescued a 6yr young Chi who will be 9 in January 🐾. She had a human mom who passed we don't know if family or friend took her then was dumped in a rural school parking lot. Two teachers called Windy Ridge Rescue in SC & we were blessed with her adoption. Followed 3-3-3 rule & now is happy healthy & so Loved. Her name is Jazzy 🐾. Please adopt don't Shop! They are the best 🌞👍🏼. Cindy & Nick & also Jazzy! Our third rescue.
Not "Dog Whisperer", but 'Dog Serenader'. Not just singing, but serenading. To serenade is one person singing a light & happy song in honor of or to express love & goodwill to a specific someone else. That's what Rocky was doing....
I adopted a street dog that my adult son found roaming. He was in awful shape physically and mentally . He obviously had been on the street for some time and had been abused. I found that singing to him was very calming. I would sing " it's ok, it's ok, little buddy, little buddy..... Very soft as I sat by him and he just calmed. I also sing " The Lion Sleeps Tonight " and he loves that n sings along. He goes crazy just howls and goes all in , just the with the most feeling possible from an old scruffy dog. He is fairly old. Not sure how old but maybe 13 ish. I have had him since 2020. He is from my research a Spitz mix even has some tiny dew claws. ( He only weighs like 30lbs). They are notably known to be pretty histrionic and vocal. My pitbull, who is 16 , loves music and just melts with classical music but loves some good classic rock. My shepherd just loves it all. Anyway, music is a great tool for helping rescues relax and connect.
Sometimes owners have health issues or financial problems. It was very difficult for me when I lost my job and couldn’t find another job for over a year. My cats never went without food but when my health went bad I almost lost my home and cats. 😢
My rescue dog Lucy was abandoned with 12 other dogs when their family moved out. I do not know how long they were alone. It took the landlord another week before he let anyone in to help them. Lucy was one of four survivors. I am so thankful everyday that I have Lucy in my life. It took some time but she has turned into a total cuddlebug. She is the best dog. Thank you so much for giving these dogs a chance and a voice.
The look on the dog when the first time Rocky said "you're a good girl, there's a good girl" - the dog was looking around behind her, as if thinking "who is he talking to?"
I just recently discovered this channel, I’ve been binge watching. Whenever you start to give positive affirmations my extremely spoiled pups (rescues)sit up and pay attention-So cute. In this video when you whistled my chiweenie gave me the most adorable head tilt.
@@tl2402 Actually, Rocky's wife was in this video, but not on camera -- she was talking behind the camera near the end of the video, so we never saw her, but we did hear her. 🤓
You are very correct. I am 62 now but for my entire life most animals and little kids love me. People think it's odd because I am taller, I have a deep voice, I am a prior service Army Ranger, and many adults think I have a "Stern" look. But the animals and kids just seem drawn to me. I do adore them and somehow they can just sense it.
I recognized “Shiro Kuma” to mean “white bear” in Japanese! When I looked it up further, it’s actually the Japanese word for polar bear. That’s a pretty cute name for her! I’m sorry about everything she must have gone through over the years though and I hope she finds a family that will truly shower her with the love, stability and comfort she deserves ❤
I sing my dog, Buddy The-Dog, awake every morning with "New Day" by No Doubt. It's upbeat, life affirming, and positive. "And when you're stretching, you're sayn', It's a brand new daaaayyyy!" He'll be 17 in a couple of weeks and is still going strong! Dogs love positive music.
Senior dogs are sweet. My last rescue, Peggy, was 11 when she was taken from abusive owners and she was in the shelter (RSPCA) for a whole year because she was 11 when she went in. I had just lost my previous rescue to what his previous owner did to him. Peggy was very shut down and she would only eat a couple of mouthfuls a day in the shelter. I fed her up day by day, feeding her by hand and it was a week before she would eat from her bowl but she ate properly after that. She had been bashed and beaten by her previous owners so I just talked to her gently and let her come to me when she was ready. When she came out of her shell, she was a very loving, affectionate little dog. A very aggressive cancer got her just over 3 years later and I'm glad I had been able to give her love and warmth and lack of violence in those years. I carried her into the vet in her big warm blanket and it went all the way with her that last day. I got my next rescue, a middle-aged dog, 3 weeks later and he'll get the same easy death when he's ready. I will continue to take the older dogs. I can't leave them there to keep being rejected.
You are an angel for these dogs. And please remember that for you it was 3 years, but in dog years Peggy she had 21 years living the life she deserved. Thank you.
I have a cat I adopted and she was completely shut down. My heart went out to her. It took 14 months to touch me but now she loves to curl up under my right armpit and sleep with her tiny head on my shoulder.
This dog acts just like our Otis when we rescued him. He'd been abused and trusted *no one*. It took almost a full year to be able to touch him! But that was 13 years ago, and he has become our very best buddy! If you can invest the time in one of these precious dogs, the rewards are pure heaven.
A whole year, thanks for being so patient him you are a great dog lover. Unfortunately some return the dog to shelter or ditch them because they can't cope as they don't know how to interact with rescue dogs. Maybe they need to be taught these tips like you before releasing the dogs to prospective adopters.
We rescued a dog and my husband became his buddy after 2 weeks but it was 3 months before he would let me pet him. I don't know what his story was but my veterinarian thinks he was abused by a woman. These dogs deserve a chance. Rescue a dog and you will never regret it.
@@tammysims8716 I have found that "rescue" dogs learn to trust their adopters DESPITE having been abused. That does NOT mean they forget it! It does mean that they have the COURAGE to trust a new "owner" who shows the dog that the person/people deserves it! So whatever you do, DO NOT break that trust! If you do, you will probably never regain it. 🐶😇🥰
Re: the Golden. She did not want you to look away. She wanted your LOVE GAZE. Of course, as a dog sitter in a kennel, you should avoid eye contact and take things slow. But this Golden is all about the love as most Goldens are. I've owned 2 golden retrievers--one who lived to 16 and my present to 14. My 14 year old is my heart and soul dog ❤
I didn’t think it would get to me like it did - when she went up to him and started some interaction the tears started to flow and I just sobbed. What a sweet and lovely old girl
She is beautiful- her markings and that amazing colouring she is absolutely gorgeous ! If she was in Australia I would be rushing to get her. I hope sh learns to love and trust again and have the perfect home for her golden years
From your song, it also looks like she knows the word "Come!" Because every time you sang that word, she perked up more and more and came closer to you each time too. So not only was it your operatic talent, but a very smart girl realizing it too!
Singing is so helpful. I just adopted a 1 y.o. GSD girl. She was pretty shut down. We had a 1.5 hr drive from the drop off sight to home. Lots of gentle talking, singing and bits of kibble. When we pulled into the garage, she finally looked up with sad brown eyes and we bonded beautifully. She is timid but is coming out of her shell so well. Such a sweet, gentle personality. Love her.❤
My kitty was a rescue and responds to singing. I think it’s something that is perceived as happy and non threatening. It’s almost like you’re speaking their language. This is all anecdotal but it seems to speak to animals
I gotta give it to you Rocky… all of your warmth and positivity really does make such a whole world of difference to these dogs.. you can see it in their faces and body language in real time !! the comfort and calming you’re giving we get to see actual smiles on their fuzzy faces and a tail wag makes such a huge difference in the outcome for them to have a much much greater chance of finding a permanent home and family… thank you and your team for all of the joy and hope you all have given them.. Animals are so precious and they truly deserve all of ❤the love we could possibly give them.
As a foster parent and with a dog and 3 cats I adopted when fostering, animals calm down when there’s soft music! It doesn’t matter if you’re off key…they don’t know it…as long as it’s gentle. The female cat was abused by her previous owners and is terrified of rain and thunderstorms! She mews…not meows…in fear. So I have been “sitting with cats” for 7 years as I’ll sit on a towel near her and sing my favorite songs softly. She calms down and falls asleep. Even the other pets fall asleep. Please don’t ever apologies for your singing…after all, it’s for THEM, not your audience!
You make me feel so much better,my husband is dying from cancer and I do feel 😢so alone yet surrounded by loving family and friends but, don’t know why,the good you do for these beautiful animals, warms my heart!😊so thank you…may god continue to use your love and skills to help others! Bless you. X
do you have a canine ? that could really alleviate that isolated, lonely feeling. Many need saving - you can pick a small dog. or a big dog. All the same. What ever you prefer. 🎉
I LOVE not only your kind, soft demeanor but the low energy you carry into each kennel! Some folks are so ramped up that their energy is like sparks flying. They emit and create discomfort and unsettled feelings to all around them. They don’t seem to be aware of the “dis-ease” they transfer to others and the entire room they are in. Congrats Rocky! Whether you’re just a naturally calm person or you’ve learned to settle and control your voice and energy doesn’t matter! What is a blessing is that to all animals who cross your path they are calmed and reassured by your presence! THANK YOU!
This precious old lady, no, she does not need to go back to whomever doesn’t really care about her. She needs to go to a loving family who really wants her and will cherish her for the rest of her life. This beautiful girl does not deserve to go through this. She deserves love, care, compassion, loyalty, respect. She is beautiful. Please, Rocky, don’t let her go through this again.❤️😘🤟
She is well fed and sad as heck to be away from her person. She might have been left to be safe in the house. So much no one knows. Other than she wants her human. Probably been with them since she was a puppy.
She’s a lovely girl with a good appetite and she’s trying to figure things out with a healthy, cautious curiosity . Rocky & crew, it’s always wonderful seeing the connections being made. Felt myself take a deep breath when the collars came off😅!
How do you know she didn't get the best love ever and just got lost from the elderly lady/owner maybe and they aren't looking for her?? How do you know?? She's healthy, very healthy. So plz say blessings don't assume the worst...God bless her. I feel she's gonna be fine. I want her.. I love rescue dogs they are awesome...
Waffles will need some time, she was getting overwhelmed so quickly with being moved to the new location and more new people. She's looking gentle enough, and seemed to respond well to getting that mess off her neck. A good grooming will help her feel "more gooder" as well. Butters is such a sweetheart. Mel's magic will help her tremendously.
This breed is one of the most loving out there so by the look of that freaking collar and her demeanor her life must’ve been filled with abuse and neglect to turn her into this. Much hope in the future for this poor dog.
I knew from the look of her eyes that she is a friendly dog. From my experience as a professionel dog trainer. One clue I can give you. Go for a walk with the dog, then you are the King for every dog. In our dog shelter, where I work, I walk every dog in my care once a day, even if it is only for 5 minutes. For the dogs I am the Queen. They love me just for doing that.
i love that song. it's from Annie. When I'm stuck in a day that's gray and lonely, I just stick out my chin, and grin, and say: tomorrow tomorrow, i love you tomorrow, you're always a day away. Glad it helped puppers break out of the fear
I’m in Australia, I’d adopt her if I could. I cried when I saw how compressed her neck was from the lead. I’m so glad she’s been given a second chance to live a happy and peaceful life ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Shame on whoever abandoned this baby. Makes me sad and angry...what kind of human can do this!?? Bless you for your loving work and genuine dedication to these poor innocent babies! I get it if someone passed away. Obviously, this is out of our control. :(
I wouldn't be able to rest if my dog was missing. I'm 60, disabled on a limited income I wish I was able to rescue another dog. I had to put my Chihuahua Mack to sleep November 28, 2023 I think of him every day and miss him so much. I'm afraid we live in a time when owning a pet has become out of reach for someone like myself. Thank you for everything you do for these dogs. ❤️
I just lost my service dog after 16 years of love that I’ve never known from any other animal or human in my life. He was my life. I struggled financially to provide for him and had to make his food the last two years due to his illness. I managed to keep him alive and healthy with Cushing’s for 4 years after diagnosis. I can’t understand how unkind the vets in my area were, taking advantage of me by charging exorbitant fees for veterinary care. It cost me thousands of dollars over the last 4 years for his treatment. I managed to find a vet that helped by lowering his fee due to my financial circumstances, but it took a year of misdiagnosis and lots of lousy vets till I found one willing to work with me. I live is a resort town with many wealthy residence. I can’t afford to have another dog and I need a service dog due to my physical disabilities. I have found that there’s nothing left to keep me going and I’ve never experienced loneliness and depression like this before. I watch shows like this to help ease the pain of loss. Thank God for people like Rocky.
Check with your local shelter or especially the local pound cause the adoption fee may not be that much & sometimes the shelters run special adoption rates. Always use coupons to buy Dog Food & not sure what I can tell you about Vet Bills tho but I believe everyone deserves a Dog to love & to love them. Dogs are one of God’s greatest gifts to Us & everyone deserves his Gifts but no one should ever mistreat them or hurt them. I am a Senior also but live with my husband in our home with our five Dogs. Four are outside Dogs with good Shelters/Dog Houses one inside all the time & a large one that stays inside part of the time. I love my Dogs & I’ve had Dogs all my life & can’t imagine life without them. I hope you get a new Best Friend soon. 😊❤️
I don't know where you live, but some animal rescues in need of foster homes cover the bills. Perhaps you could be a foster? That is a great gift to an animal in need. You could call around and explain your situation and see if any local rescue would be able to foot the bills as long as you gave the home as a foster.
In Bakersfield there is an overpopulation of dogs. High kill shelters are overcrowded. It’s really quite heartbreaking and painful to deal with. We take dogs out of their kennel and try so hard to get great footage to advocate for them. Just like you said, We are their Voice. I appreciate you so much for all that you are currently doing. Thank you for these wonderful messages and videos. -For the Dogs 💛
You guys do good work.I adopted a dog from Bakersfield through a rescue, 10 years ago, and he was the best boy ever. He recently died of cancer, and was just the most wonderful lovely pitty. Brought in as a stray in Bakersfield, CA❤❤
that’s so amazing, rescues save countless dogs that truly are so sweet. I’m so glad a dog from Bakersfield got to be loved and saved, Rest peacefully to your pittie ❤️
These people that feel the need to express what they don’t think is right. Let’s see your video getting with the dogs, spending time with them, comforting - giving them time to decompress and feel some assurance. Nope too busy posting negative here! Rocky and Co. you are all amazing and we just love what you do.
She's exhausted, she's too tired to eat. Every noise makes her wary however, your calming voice relaxes her. When you were first speaking, she started closing her eyes and laying her head down. Poor girl has a sweet face. Thank you for your care and insight.
I have a rescue dog who gets scared when we go in the car, so I’ve learned to sing to her, whatever song comes to mind. Her favorite song is sung like “Happy birthday”: Mommy Mommy loves you, mommy mommy loves you, mommy mommy loves Ella, mommy mommy loves you! Corny but you should see the silly look on her face, and it relaxes her. only a dog could love my off key performance.
I noticed her eyes are express sadness and depression. I also noticed that she recognized she recognized when you said sweetheart. She is listening to you talk and sing but eyes express sadness and looks like she has been crying.
I spent more than 2 hours sitting on the floor with my Penny when I brought her home from the shelter. She was terrified of everything. She bonded with me, but it took years before she decide that male humans were ok. The love she gave me was worth all the patients and work. She passed loving people and being loved.
I will feed my pet first even if I have to go hungry. I feel owning a pet creates a non-verbal agreement between you and the pet. The pet gives you love, protection and companionship; you give love, attention, a warm, snugly place to stay and most importantly you give them a sense of security, and a sense they can rely on you come hèck or high water.
Just came by to say thank you. Watching your videos actually let me save a husky out in Texas summer heat. Poor guy was out on the street, scared to death. He ran to a stoop, and I sat down just like you always showed us. I managed to get him to calm down, eat treats, take pets, and get in the car. Just wanted to say thanks. Your videos enabled me to save a poor overheated pup in exactly the wrong climate
This sitting is so satisfying. I immediately thought of some names rather with class than sweet. Like Brenda, Golda, Olive or Olivia. Olive and Olivia came into my mind when you talked about you coffee-olive oil experience. Olive or Brenda would probably be the ones for me to choose from. Or Matilda. But how sweet that she reacted to "Waffles" instantly. Surprised me.
I used to volunteer for shelters years ago and how she is acting reminds me of two of them one was a Black Lab that would charge the kennel door to try and get out ,found out he was a service dog and the owner was in The hospital for time and his sister bought the dog to the shelter to get rid of it because she didn't like it. The shelter discovered that and returned the Lab to the owner. The others was a Pit /Bulldog mix name Ladybug she had shown down and was acting like that dog ,found out her family 's house was destroyed by a fire and she had to go to the shelter because the place where the family stayed didn't allow dogs,The family found a new house and picked her up she was a different dog when they did she went from laying in the corner only moving to eat to jumping running around and even giving kisses to some of us.
Thank God both of these precious babies made it back to their owners/families where they belonged! I can't imaging the evil of the Lab's owner's sister to dump a SERVICE DOG in a pound! I hope she somehow "gets it" and repents!!! 😇🐈⬛😇🐈💓💓
Someone's sister put thwir service dog in the shelter when they were in hospital!!!! WOW talk about evil! I'm so glad they were reunited and I hope that "sister" caught some charges.
I watched intently and noticed the exact moment her facial expression changed from apprehension to relaxation. I haven’t stopped smiling since. You are inspiring!
Her heart is broken and she is uncomfortable with people because she feels abandoned. It’s too scary trusting a person for now. She is smart and has a good heart that will love again. I rescued my lab Lucky off the streets of Atlanta and ever so slowly he trusted me…. My Lucky now tells me when mu asthma is kicking up, when my blood oxygen is low or my heart beat is too high, a life saver for me. She is a brave dog.
I didn't think she was going to come around 🥰 She did great right?!

So sorry for your situation but very happy you have a home now.
Homeless for years with dogs, and homeless longer because it's so hard to work and find a place to live with a dog. Been off the street for 6 years and making a decent living but still about to be homeless again because my rental was sold and can't find another quickly enough that takes dogs!
I’m glad you’re in a better place
We had a dog that my dad adopted a long time ago. She had been left, attached to a pole on a rainy/stormy night. It took her a year+ to get used getting into a car without shaking like a leaf and even longer to not be scared by rain or thunder. I miss her, she was a great family member.
God bless your family for saving her.❤❤❤❤❤
We had a dog that took a year to be able to pat her on the head …she was a rescue dog …🦋🇦🇺
I worked for years helping traumatized dogs & dogs with behavioral issues. Very often, singing to a shut down or defensive dog was what worked to gain their trust. Good work, Rocky!
That's amazing!! I wondered if the dog responded so well to the singing because a prior owner sang....and it brought a sense of "home" to her?
Wow! Had no idea!
Terrific!!
Agree! Rocky has the biggest heart!

Barbara, what did you feed the dog to promote its longevity? I love people that put dogs first.
I have no doubt that you gave this precious 🐶 a special home♥️
Decades ago my roommates and I adopted a cat from the shelter, but when we got her home, she ran and his under the beds, chairs, etc. and was totally unapproachable. A couple days after she came home we went into the living room to sit and put on a Bob Dylan record. Within minutes she came out of her hiding place and crawled in my lap. Music is magic.
My mom's anxious rescue dog loved listening to Josh Groban.
Kudos to England!!! A dog-friendly country!!!
This is beautiful.
Amazing. Good for them.
❤Dr. Jeff, who's a vet in Colorado helps a lot of homeless by treating their pets.
Here in Loma Linda CA there is a community vet, a great place!
Folks without homes get in line with their dogs for vet help.
Lol.
I'm a cat lover and thank you for being there for those kitties! God bless you!
I can't stand to see an animal without a home and someone to love.😪
Bless you for helping those sweet kitties❣
Many shelters would never give her a break. They'd just take her to the back room. I'm so glad you can help her.
Bless you!
I love that for you And your new little guy!

What a heartwarming story!
Rocky, as a (retired) psychotherapist I am impressed with your therapeutic skills with dogs.😊😊

Dear Rocky I liked your singing, you could try whispering and then you shall be a dogwhisperer love from the Netherlands Marijke and cat Dory
My lab was a breeder dog that was sold, mistreated brutally. She was very shy to my husband, but let me do everything. After one year of patience and continued love, she finally let my husband in her tribe, now they are buddies, she is my shadow and we love her so much!
Love the way n patience u have with her❤❤

That's Pawsome!
I have a Persian cat who sat in the bathtub( without water of course) for 11 months when I brought him home

Thank you for sharing your story! Your patience just makes me smile! Thank you for taking in the pup!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😊
Dude, you are doing my dream job. God bless you and every animal you've helped.
If u can do that to an animal, ur a person or ppl. Not human.
I may take this quote and share it everywhere. Spot on
Watching this incredibly patient man-with-integrity teaches me to be a better person and a better human to animals. 🙏🙏🙏

@kendrawaddams3174 if we could only be this patient and dedicated with our homeless/hurting people!

Luckily my super spoiled rescue dog lifted his head up from my lap and share his squeaky toy to comfort me
Super tender amazing moment, eh?❣️🙏🏻
What a wonderful gentleman!
Crying just means you're human, it's good to let go of tears. You must be extra special to your lucky rescue dog, especially to be offered their toy 💖
You are a true manly man if you are willing to let things touch your heart. ❤️
You beautiful man, you are a wonderful soul. You have a rescue dog & you are watching Rocky sitting with dogs, You are my people, lol😊
She's so beautiful. She's extremely guarded, but she clearly wants love.
Thank you❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
How could they (whoever “they” is-landlord?) possibly think that finding the previous owner (the one who clearly abandoned her!!) could be a good idea!!
Thank you so much for doing this and everything you do 🙏🐕🐾
She seems like she’s either very sad or just shocked of where she is. She’s so shut down so sad. She’s a beautiful girl.
Why would you go in with a dog before knowing anything about them
@@KathleenDanler I don't think Rocky 'just' goes into the kennel.
Not "Dog Whisperer", but 'Dog Serenader'. Not just singing, but serenading. To serenade is one person singing a light & happy song in honor of or to express love & goodwill to a specific someone else. That's what Rocky was doing....

@@rockykanaka Glad you lke it!!
I kept thinking he would sing, "You are my sunshine" Beautiful senior!
She is so beautiful! Bless you for caring about her and spending quality time and showing her such love.❤❤❤❤❤❤
This dog is deeply hurt...for whatever reason. Very sensitive. Needs time, and love!
Yes, I see extreme grief in her eyes.
she is such a beautiful, sweet girl. Please don't giver her back to a bad owner; she wants someone to love her.
Sadly he doesn’t get to decide. So many dogs get put back with bad owners just so they aren’t in the shelter
Sometimes owners have health issues or financial problems. It was very difficult for me when I lost my job and couldn’t find another job for over a year. My cats never went without food but when my health went bad I almost lost my home and cats. 😢
I love what you’re doing for these animals.❤❤
Love the way he is so patient, the dog has gained trust in him. I think his singing warmed her.
Maybe her owner sang to her.

@tammymesser4799 - do you mean name her chance.?.
Have been watching and am wondering why people would bother to have a dog if they are not prepared to take proper care of it
Horrible 😢 for 8 to die
Upvote for word, "cuddlebug". 💕
He allowed those dogs to starve?
What a terrible situation. Im glad Lucy survived to get to you.

Thank you Rocky and all others who care for these amazing animals.
she is sitting beside you. i think she is going to be all right. you are great with dogs
Breaks my heart .. . That girl deserves a loving family, good food, playtime etc....
🥺🥺❤❤
💚
❤😢🙏🏽
I hope her previous owners were held accountable
You are an angel for these dogs. And please remember that for you it was 3 years, but in dog years Peggy she had 21 years living the life she deserved. Thank you.

Awhh nice ❤❤❤
Yay Cathy u are awesome!!!
It hurts my heart to think of what she went through. You are amazing for your empathetic, compassionate soul.
Waffles is a great name, bc this pretty & smart girl took time to access the situation.
I heard her whimper, she wants love and a forever home with a nice back yard. I wish you weren't so far away, I would adopt her in a NY minute.
❤❤❤❤❤
We rescued a dog and my husband became his buddy after 2 weeks but it was 3 months before he would let me pet him. I don't know what his story was but my veterinarian thinks he was abused by a woman. These dogs deserve a chance. Rescue a dog and you will never regret it.
And Caesar Milan says that dogs don't remember their abuse.
Love her.❤

She looks so sweet. Just so scared. Good job making her feel safe.

They emit and create discomfort and unsettled feelings to all around them. They don’t seem to be aware of the “dis-ease” they transfer to others and the entire room they are in.

I bet she was sung to in her puppy past. GOD bless you, Rocky.
When you’re talking about her situation, she reacts like she’s understanding everything you’re staying.
This Labrador gal is around 8 or 9 yrs old ( my best guess ). Definitely muscular body. Sweet baby! Rocky you and the crew are so awesome.
Rocky, your heart is so big, I am surprised you can fit into those kennels. Keep on loving those dogs.
This is beautiful. I cried with joy when she took that first treat. She was so alone and afraid. You changed her life already.
Seeing her realize she can trust you honestly made my day. I felt so bad for her. What a sweetheart.
Trust is earned and forgiveness when someone is sorry and changes their behavior.
i love that song. it's from Annie.
I’m so glad she’s been given a second chance to live a happy and peaceful life ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
How could anyone leave an animal in an empty house to slowly starve to death? So cruel. Hope this sweet dog finds a new loving owner soon.
My mind just won't go there. People who do that should be in prison for YEARS, hopefully in solitary.
@@margaretdasilva5493 We still don't know what happened. Imagine her owner just went out to the supermarket and ended up in an accident, no id with him, john doe in a hospital or died... Nobody could be blamed except that in the neighbourhood nobody cared enough to know anything about their neighbours.
@@himmel-erdeundzuruck5682Yes!! People always assume the worst,,and stuff like that happens alot, thank you for reminding people to not always think negative first ❤️
Perp is hell bound. I think
the dog looks well fed. Best not to Judge. She's in an unfamiliar place with a stranger.
Shame on whoever abandoned this baby. Makes me sad and angry...what kind of human can do this!?? Bless you for your loving work and genuine dedication to these poor innocent babies! I get it if someone passed away. Obviously, this is out of our control. :(
Look how she liked the music. She looks up with aw! you sing good. Precious! She’s part lab. Aw! Love her!
Me too
I just lost my service dog after 16 years of love that I’ve never known from any other animal or human in my life.
Pet ownership is becoming only for the rich due to cost of food, vets fees plus pet insurance. It shouldn't be this way.
@edenbe... Your whole country (USA) ‼️ is over crowded! with dogs! And full of height killing☠️ shelters‼️ What's wrong with USA⁉️🤬
that’s so amazing, rescues save countless dogs that truly are so sweet. I’m so glad a dog from Bakersfield got to be loved and saved, Rest peacefully to your pittie ❤️
What courage and strength of character you have to do that. God bless you and all of the animals, too. ❤
I didn’t know that 😢 If I’m still in or near Bakersfield when I’m older, definitely adopting from here. How saddening :(
These people that feel the need to express what they don’t think is right. Let’s see your video getting with the dogs, spending time with them, comforting - giving them time to decompress and feel some assurance. Nope too busy posting negative here!
Rocky and Co. you are all amazing and we just love what you do.
She’s happy with those collars off she’s smiling!!! Even yawned how precious is that!
She's exhausted, she's too tired to eat. Every noise makes her wary however, your calming voice relaxes her. When you were first speaking, she started closing her eyes and laying her head down. Poor girl has a sweet face. Thank you for your care and insight.
Yes oh wow😮
Oh loving this she beautyfull
She loving that sratch
Love to give her a big hug
I have a rescue dog who gets scared when we go in the car, so I’ve learned to sing to her, whatever song comes to mind. Her favorite song is sung like “Happy birthday”: Mommy Mommy loves you, mommy mommy loves you, mommy mommy loves Ella, mommy mommy loves you! Corny but you should see the silly look on her face, and it relaxes her. only a dog could love my off key performance.
Aww that's cute
What a great facility. You’re great too Rocky, such a big heart. Thank you.
This man is amazing and it was so beautiful to see the dog let him pat her. Beautiful, just beautiful.
Rocky, Kelly & everyone that you work with. Thank You for all you do!❤
I will feed my pet first even if I have to go hungry. I feel owning a pet creates a non-verbal agreement between you and the pet. The pet gives you love, protection and companionship; you give love, attention, a warm, snugly place to stay and most importantly you give them a sense of security, and a sense they can rely on you come hèck or high water.
When she got up and went to you after your stellar singing, I had tears. I love watching you do this. You are helping the dogs, that help us❤
Just came by to say thank you.
Thank-you for caring!!
@@Lizzie-h3j she was I couldn't get all the information all I found out was that she was arrested and spent time in jail for that stunt
@@Catherinewelter-z6d I am so pleased to hear that such an evil woman was sent to jail. GOOD !
Those side-eye looks are so heart breaking😢
I watched intently and noticed the exact moment her facial expression changed from apprehension to relaxation. I haven’t stopped smiling since. You are inspiring!
You definitely ARE the Dogwhisperer!!! ❤
I have been adopting and rescuing dogs all my life. They are highly intelligent ❤
She smiled when you said The hardest moment is over - we’re going to make sure she ‘s alright! Heartbreaking that she was abandoned. ❤❤❤
