There is supposed to be an update for the radio to make it support portrait mode for Android auto. I believe it has to be done by the dealership. My understanding is the OTA update doesn't all for all the firmware updates available.
@maddawg1810 the update done through the dealer using the USB in dealer mode is supposed to be different than the OTA that consumers can do. There are ways to get the USB update. But you have to be careful. The different trim cars and models have specific updates. If you don't get the right one, or if you don't upload it properly, you risk bricking your radio.
@@howtosubaru Thanks for replying. Mine doesn’t come up with the wire. Was told by the dealer that I needed a special wire not the one that comes with my Samsung 22. When dealer tried it with their wire it still would not work. I’m going to try disconnecting the phone and do a reconnect and see what happens.
@stuartyourish8711 try another phone. There is no special wire. Often, though, the USB cord people use often stops transferring data. The data portion is very fine, and easily breaks, and you can't see it. The cord will keep charging, but the data won't transfer. If a different phone doesn't work with your current cord, try a new one. I don't suggest a gas station cheap one. I use a $25 one from Staples.

Can you make android auto full screen?
I've got a 2022 and get half a screen. It sort of like looking at my Samsung S23 instead I'm using my screen. 😢

My dealer is a PITA. Found the update online. Thanks.
Any chance you can share this? I have the same problem
Can you put on Fullscreen Google maps?
Not on a 2022. Maybe once you do the update to the radio that makes the setup more like the 2023 setup.
@@howtosubaruok, ty
@Pattcho have you found any solutions
@@natef.7010I've got the latest update of software in Subaru Outback 2022 and still half screen! What a shame..
Funny how it works in fullscreen with an Apple phone but not an Android. 😡
I have a 22 Outback and android auto does not come up.
It's not wireless in the 22. The 23 year model is the first year for wireless support of Android auto and Apple carplay.

Sucks that 2022 needs to be plugged in to work.
