- Starting a new build on a small island Cities Skylines 2 map will have it’s challenges. We’ll need to find the right assets to match the scale of the map, and match the aesthetics for the part of the world of where it is set.
I’ll be using mods to hopefully help bring in the the feel and colours of the South Pacific islands. Everything on this map will be small scale using vanilla assets, but it will be heavily detailed

Really unique little town, very cool!
Thank you bud. Really enjoying your stuff too 😊👍
Please drop the next episode 😭
On it 😁👍
This looks exactly looks like the pacific islands. I think one thing though that would completely nail the look is a small dirt airfield base that the US air force set up during the WW2 - Cold War period but later abandoned and left to the jungle after not being needed anymore.
I was actually talking about the possibility of having some old WW2 remains with someone else. It's a great idea. Not sure if I'll be able to fit an airfield but we'll see 😊👍
This is really impressive! The detailing is so good that your basically an artist at this point :)
Thank you so much 😀
Spent a bit of time in the Pacific Islands. You’ve totally nailed the vibe. ❤
Brilliant! Love hearing that 😊👍
Brilliant! The colours really do bring the tropical vibes to life, looking forward to seeing more!
Thank you! Not a bad start, lots to do, so should keep me busy 😊👍
Epic build man, looking forward to seeing this little series develop!
Cheers Ben! Fun wee build this one. I'm gonna need to be creative with this one, but I have a plan 😁
This is absolutely fantastic. Love to see something different like this done so well! I admire the patience of detailers like yourself 😅
Thanks so much David. Yeah, it's a cool little build. Will be getting back on this series once I get the downtown infrastructure sorted out in Cape Lomond 😊👍
I'm really glad you tried this! I made a tropical island map and struggled to make a decent city (especially before ECON 2.0 and the detailers patch).
Harbour only start was barely doable but cars don't spawn so tunnels were needed.
Anyways, great job and nice detailing! 👌
I had to try it, the map was so beautiful. It deserved some love. Recolor mod ftw! Thanks so much bud 😊👍
Absolutely stunning build! This little series is going to be great to watch
Cheers Neil! Appreciate that man. Loads of ideas for it. Should turn out good 😊👍
Looking forward to this!
Cheers bud. Got lots of ideas for this one. Bit of a challenge with the assets, or lack of, but should be a fun one to do. 👍
Brilliant pal! For smaller schools, police, etc. could always knock something up in the Editor. And in the Dev UI you can switch of the road wear shader if you want to remove the bright drive lanes. Playing catch=up at the moment so I'll grab Ep 2 tomorrow hopefully.
Ah cheers mate. Don't worry about the school/fire/police/medical assets, I've got a nice solution for them. Just put them in the build today. 😉 That said if you have anything that you think might be a good fit for the island, 100% sling it my way. Custom assets are definitely in for this series! Aiming for ep2 up for Tuesday if I can 😊👍
Having been to almost all Pacific Islands, the decals you placed on the buildings and roofs, along with the palm trees look very realistic! Now you need to have people, dogs and cats all over that little town!
Brilliant! Great getting feedback from someone familiar from the area! Yeah, the place needs to get a bit of life injected into it now 👍👍
Great start Picc! Looking forward to seeing how this builds out!
Cheers Pilot! 😊👍
I LOVE THIS SO MUCH PLEASE MORE DAWG I LOVE HOW ITS LOOKING
Thank you! More to come 😊👍
Wind turbines in the water I found it to be easiest to raise the terrain just below sea level, run the lines then take the terrain down.
Ah nice! Didn't think about that 👍👍
amazing job!
Thanks so much bud 😊👍
So much detailing bro - looks amazing 🎉
Thanks so much. Really appreciate that 😊👍
Loving the island all you need is a couple of small wooden fishing jetties for people to fish and a nice small wooden beach bar for those fruity cocktails. 😊
Thank you! Watch this space. I might have a plan for what you've mentioned. 😉
Really like what you did with the residential pal looks so natural 👍
Cheers James, yeah, it came out really nice. Gives me a bit of a template to work on for expanding to the other parts of the islands now too 😊👍
@@piccana_ definitely can’t wait to see where this series goes. I like the smaller scale high detail builds best. Thanks for the great content 👌
Good job! Just sad how much work and modding it takes to make the assets look good. The roads for example looks soo much better!
Thank you! Should get easier once we get assets. 😊👍
I like the hand-placed low-density wall-to-wall effect in the town center. Not quite strip malls but also much more realistic than big gaps between every building, with generic stores having their own mini plazas and whatnot.
I was impressed in the intro showing the preview of everything- I legit had to check this was a CS2 video, because it looked like new assets.
FWIW re: water pollution, the economy update changed how fast it dissipates and it goes away after a pretty short time now once the pollution source is removed!
If you click the Palette button on the color mod you get a much faster copy/paste feature that is standalone from the building panels.
I also love the decorative power lines. I wish roads could have power lines on them as an add-on.
Glad you enjoyed it 😊 I'll have a proper look at that Recolor button, I've not used it all that much, appreciate the tip 😊👍
very nice detailing, gives me inspiration. thanks!
Cheers Dfrabbit, love hearing that! 😊👍
Stunning! You should take a look at SEENU series from Strictoaster (although I believeyou did). It's a kinda old school cities skylines 1 youtuber, but the series has the same vibe as yours and is really cool! If I recall correctly, he created a temporary service island at the edge of the map with service with helicopters, but never shown in the series, maybe it's an approach
Thank you! I've not heard of that channel before, it was up and running well before I started playing, but I'll have a proper look through the series tonight. Thank you for sharing! The service helicopters off camera sound like a brilliant idea! 👌 Thank you!
This is SO refreshing after seemingly endless bland American nowheres. Thank you.
Very welcome, glad you enjoyed 😊👍
So amazing 😍, I will look forward to seeing more
Cheers Echo. Looking forward to making the next one 😊👍
Dope asf bro. More of this series!
Cheers man. Defo more to come 😊👍
love the detailing
Thank you! Much appreciated Gnome 😊👍
as a brazilian i say that thsi amall area of the roundabout with worn asphalt, power lines and bush, resembles a brazilian city :)))
Ha! Nice one. 😊👍
I love this idea
Cheers Marcus, glad you enjoyed mate :)
smaller turbo prop (DHC-6 or 8, 1 Embraer EMB 110) aircraft 3 on the tarmac by the airport terminal...... and a helicopter port can be used as emergency services fire and rescue.
1 small hotel.. 4 to 5 story beach side, 1 3 story hospital or clinic, The national Sport of Fiji is Rugby.. grass field.. no markings for an island this size (custom rugby field and remove the decals. you can also find if there is any mod that has aicraft with floaters.. like Single engine DHC-2 Beaver and DHC-6 Twin otter...so the airplane can land in the sea... if there is 1.. then no airport is needed. a fishing troller port... you can use to get a car/passanger ferry service onto that troller port... if there is anything like that... nothing big.. 1 peer.. with ferry unload and loading driveway...thats all. few local boats in the Atoll on this map.
Islands like these can also have a large secluded Data Centre warehouses.. atleast 2 with security towers and a internal helipad.
Cheers for that Edward, great info. Copied it straight into my series notes 👌 I'm guessing you've spent a bit of time in that part of the world?
This is really amazing.
Thank so much Kelly. Really appreciate that 😊👍
I think you missed one or two decals.... hahahaha... impressive detailing! See ya!!
😂😂😂
I actually like the darker gravel roads more then the vanilla ones. lol
Me too tbh. They're going to be everywhere on this build 😊
@@piccana_ cant wait to see your next vods. I have caught up now again. xxxx
Ha! Some effort! 🎉 New vid up tomorrow 👀
You’re the best cities skyline gamer better than infrastructure and city planners
I'm not sure about that, but that you for that lovely compliment 😊👍
can you make the save game available on paradox mods, id love to play it.
Might do after a few episodes 😊👍
Why is your game so colorful? It looks nice compared to vanilla
I use some settings in my video editor that helps, but here's as close as you can get to my settings, in-game. Clouds and fog switched off to make it brighter (optional). Keep the map on the summer season, you can do this via dev mode and turn off precipitation via dev mode or weather+ mod. You can use preserve photo mod or lumina mod to keep the following settings while you play. Post exposure, 0.6. contrast 11. Saturation between 30-60 depending on your monitor. Do all this and you will have a bright, vivid game, but you might need to adjust these setting depending on your own set up :)
@piccana_ thank you for the suggestions!
@@bish0p2004 no problem at all, let me know how you get on 👍
please let me know how to change house color??
Hi. It's the Recolor mod by Yenyang 👍
Hi! Big fan here. Can you please share what kind of mods that you are using in this game. Thank you!
Hi there 👋 I keep an updated mod list on the discord if you wanna check it out. It's easier for me as I can just screenshot and paste it. Just added the Bali Ha'i mod list this morning 😊👍
Cool build! Is something wrong with the voice recorder in this video?
Cheers Michael. I just watched it back on YT and thought it sounded pretty deep. What's your thoughts?
@@piccana_ Almost sounded like you weren't as clear as other videos - nothing major though. Still a great video!
@@michaelsmith1846 Cheers man, good feedback. 👍 I'll have a look in the morning and see what's what 👍
Will you load up your surface, that you use on the field road/gravel street?
Hi, it's not my surface to upload, but I believe it will be coming to PDX mods soon as part of a bigger farming detailer pack. You can get it from the modding discord, or if you want, you can jump in my discord and I can share it with you there.

Cheers Chris. Appreciated bud 😊👍
Yo can we see what mods are you using? Like a mods pack
Hi there. I keep an updated mod list on my discord if you want to check it out. There's a couple that won't be on the current list as Ive added a few new ones this week. 😊👍
@@piccana_ Thanks you!
What mods do you use for the search of assets like a specific bush 2:30 ?
Hi. There's 2 mods there. "Find it" and "Extra landscaping tools" 😊👍
Thanks@@piccana_
@@danieltomsicek7051 no problem, if you have any more questions, just ask 👍
Can you write the mods you use?
Hi Ahmet. The mod list is on the discord if you want to have a look 😊👍
