That was decades ago, and I can't find it anywhere. If I could, I'd pay good money to have that again. Old Jack. A legend, but also...hmmm, I got some issues with his politics. Jack isn't just the greatest golfer of all time, he's a great husband, father, and grandfather. Jack and Barbara have done so much for their children's hospital and other charities, they are both amazing people. Mr. Faldo, you are the man! My dad who passed away a few years ago is the reason I got into golf. He watched golf throughout the 80s and 90s in early thousands when I was too young to watch. Every time a golfer would hit a shot he would say something like “that just like Faldo”, or “ that’s not how Faldo does it”… for the longest time? I thought he was talking about some wild, exotic, animal or bird. As I eventually grew into the game, I realized obviously you were one of the best golfers of several generations. I’m not proud to be able to teach my son about the joys of golf and the golfers the game before me. We miss you and your voice on the live coverage, but so glad you found a happy place. Good luck to you!

This interview brought back the nostalgia of the good old days for me and I’m only 45. I grew up watching both of these guy’s and the other player’s they spoke about like Arnold Palmer. They were my heroes and still are to this day. Jack designed a course near my house for the charity “Folds of Honor” that I play every chance I get. An incredible treat. I would read his books and advice in magazines on golf as a teen, and then attended THE Ohio State University where Jack of course was a legend - he and Woody. Playing Scarlet & Grey golf courses, you heard the stories from those who knew him, and it was a thrill to hear about his abilities to cut corners and drive past sand traps. Then I was able to attend tour events and follow him, and see his game up close and personal. I remember I was lucky once down the fairway and his ball landed in the rough practically by my feet. The green was blocked by a tree, and Jack walked up, took literally a few seconds to assess the situation, and boom, made his swing hooked the ball out of the rough around the tree, pin high. He looked over at those of us around him, slight smile, and off he went. OMG. SKILL! Always a gentlemen to the crowds, always in control even when facing intense pressure and difficult shots, easily the greatest golfer who ever played the game and no better ambassador for the game. The intelligence he shows in this interview is amazing. Go Bucs!

So, on the Sunday, I went to my local pitch & putt, and started my golfing life. Nearly 54 years later, I'm still playing, and still love the game every bit as much as I did then! Great interview Nick, you're another hero, and have made me a proud British, but, to me, Jack is absolutely my golfing hero. Two things that resonated with me was the story of you both picking up the game, just you and the game, no one else needed and learning by watching. I knew nothing about golf, not even the rules and what I learned was from watching golf on tv, watching Jack most of all through the mid 80s when I was 12-14 yrs old. I recently found a video Jack made « golf my way » and low and behold, there was my adult swing. 40 years later still the same swing. From the Snead/Hogan/Nelson eta through Jack Nicklaus/ Watson/Seve era of the late 70s and early 80s is my favorite. With Monday qualifying and the precision that the equipment demanded made for very tough players.

A real treat. It’s great to hear the stories, it brings back incredible nostalgia from The Best Game ever! Sir Nick and Jack, couple legends of the game. Need more of this.

To Jack I have always took your mindset advice about how much effort it takes to chip around the green just by using the underhand toss of your arm movement practice before you hit your shot. Like many others you love what you do and not think you have to play golf for the wealth.Nick thank you for sharing both of you are great mentors to many Take care Richard

Thank you Sir Nick! How refreshing to have an interview with a load of time for thoughtful questions and honest answers. Even a few that seemed to surprise you. What a treat. By the way, I switched to a Response 615 several years ago and it feels like putty in my hands. I may not be able to drive to save your life. But, I can putt to save mine!

Love the stories and really love hearing two greats sharing golf knowledge. Sir Nick you should do an episode on Seve!!!…..with you and the original European soldiers- Langer, Lyle, Woosie, Jose…..throw in Jacklin….and just sit around a table with some scotch and a fire 🔥 telling Seve stories for an hour or two ….that would me magical viewing!!

Considering the relatively low tech golf clubs and balls that he plays with in his time, yes Jack must be Seen as the GOAT!
Thanks to Sir Nick Faldo for this good moments.

I met Mr Nicklaus in 2010 and had a few minutes alone with him and was a nervous wreck. As he was leaving I asked him what was his greatest shot was. He looked me in the eye and said "all of them" then left. God good when you think about it he treated every shot the same whether his putt across the green on 17 at the 86 masters or a hole out for a 76, awesome.

Great interview! I play golf for the same reason as Jack. I can do it by myself. I still like it when it's just me and my dog. My family was a golfing family. Caddied when i was 7. People think I love golf and I do but it is just something that I do. Part of my life.
