To think that he used to be criticised for being cold and unfriendly on the Tour. Well, today Sir Nick was just hilarious and warm from start to finish👏👏👏
This video was absolutely brilliant. Watching Sir Nick is what got me into golf and the way he knew just how to play difficult holes in difficult conditions was just awe inspiring.

Videos like this are where you see just how brilliant some of the game's greatest golfers are. So many young golfers just pull out a wedge and throw the ball up in the air and get knocked around. These guys have every shot in the bag and can maneuver around the course and create opportunities. It was great to watch Sir Nick do it. Great video - made me laugh and made me respect Sir Nick more than I already did.
I remember watching a pro play a par 3 with every club in his bag( outside of the wedges and putter) to show the range of shots you can play. Incredible
Where I’m from on the west coast of Ireland, young golfers learn early to keep their shots low. A few windy days on the links dispels any notions of dramatic high approach shots very quickly.
Its how I play the game but I think that's from playing as a kid in the era of soft ballata balls, bladed irons and persimmon woods its how you had to play we didn't have 3 different wedges you had to manufacture shots with difficult equipment after hitting not very long because of traditional lofts and the ball not travelling very far.....it was a different game...when I had lessons even as young as 9 the pro had me shaping shots and changing trajectory because back then thats what you did....
No wonder Sir Nick was one of the best in the game, He recognizes issues with the swing immediately and he has knowledge of the game coming out of , well you know where.

The clubhouse conversation with Nick might have won it for me. The genuine enthusiasm he had for seeing a bunch of golf balls and wanting to go hit them resonated so strongly with me.
this is something I've been watching and listening to so much recently, mostly in awe. The way the old school tour players play their way round courses and see shots. Sir Nick here, Tiger on the Taylormade videos. Their knowledge is just so far above players these days I feel who rely on tech too much. Sooooo fascinating
What a absolute privilege you had to play a round with a person so humble and forthcoming like Sir Faldo. Hubble down to earth...and showing his true love for the game...this is to be envied by millions....
Love Nick Faldo. The dude's essence and sense of humor are unbeatable. I've listened and relistened to golf broadcasts when he's announcing, and the way he speaks, describes things, and articulates them, is so unique, so engaging, and pure gold to listen to. Dude's a legend...in many respects.

Sir Nick, what a player he was, never the longest hitter but he could put a score together in the big tournaments, just a winner, my mate Roy's all time favourite golfer.

Faldo is hugely undervalued and under appreciated in the UK. We just don’t like winners that much. We prefer a glorious loser. Faldo was an out and out winner
When I got into golf many, many years ago, this is the man I followed. He was, and still is, my favorite golfer of all time! Thanks Rick for introducing him to another generation of golfers. Thanks Sir Nick for being a long distance mentor to many of us.
Bubba Watson is my favorite player. He was also voted the player on tour the pros would least likely help if he got in a bar fight. I think he’s a great competitor and does things his own way. Faldo was legendary and won majors and gained respect for winning.
1996 Masters final round was one of the best rounds of golf I have ever seen. It was a display of course management and a ball striking clinic. Pure joy to watch and what a memorable day.
Sir Nick, absolute legend! I love that even a 3 time masters champion is self deprecating enough to feel the need to make excuses before the first tee. There is hope for us all. Great video as always, keep up the fantastic work!
With Greg Norman as my idol I wasn't the biggest fan of Faldo growing up but looking back now, listening to Nick's commentary on the PGA tour and then this video I really was lucky to have watched one of the greatest competitors of all time. This vid was a beauty!!!!
One of my favourite Rick Shields videos. Sir Nick so understated about his own game and the simple advice he gave. The explanation and consequence of a weak grip was almost a throwaway line, but the first time I really understood why it’s such a problem. No wonder the Americans love him on their line up. Brilliant stuff, thank you both👍
This is fantastic: I watched the first two holes and Rick did well, plus it was clear why Nick Faldo is "Sir" Nick Faldo. This is a friendly match between two Englishmen on a gale blown links course. Moreover, it's cold enough to frostbite your toes; yet these two guys manage a subtle, light-hearted banter that slides right into the stream of play like a fish going from one thermal to another. Good golf, good cheer, good surroundings. This video is such a Rick Shiels Classic Vlog that I'm going to wait a few hours to finish it because I want to savor what I just saw: two unscripted, but perfect holes.
This was probably one of my favorite matches you played with anyone. I just wish we could've seen 6 or 9 holes on a better weather day. Rick, maybe you'll have to make a trip to Montana or Florida to play Sir Nick Flado? I'm sure your fans would love to see it. Keep up the great work, that you're doing to entertain us all, and keep just enjoying life. Cheers! Btw, I'm not really wanting a rematch, to see you win, Rick. I just Find Sir Nick so insightful.
What an amazing video Rick, Sir Nick what a quality player he still is and I loved the little tips what an honour that must of felt. Keep up the amazing work
I played Muirfield in 2015, the site of two of Nick's Open victories. Probably the highlight was I got to stay in the Nick Faldo Suite at Greywalls where Nick stays whenever he's in the Gullane area. Nick is a phenomenal teacher. His knowledge of the game is awesome.
Never knew much about Sir Nick but now after seeing him here he’s become an all time favorite !! Thanks Rick ! Please do more with golf legends !! Kudos and Bravos to you all at RSG !
Since I knew this video was coming its been the longest week ever and it didn't disappoint. What a course. I hope they keep the Shiels/Faldo par 3 as a hole. Sir Nick 006 is in a class of his own. Hope Faldo comes back for another video and can't wait to see more chippy 90 yard 9 irons.
My brother and I had the pleasure of walking 18 holes with Sir Nick at Wentworth. We were in awe of him. He was so lovely to us - we were only young and my God what a player. He won the world match play that week and it is an experience we will never forget.
This could be my favourite video of yours yet. Quality course with great visuals. Useful tips and commentary which is just part of natural conversation and Sir Nick was just class.
Absolutely fantastic. Sir Nick comes across the type of guy you’d love to play golf with, a true Everyman. Well done. Wanted more, more more. Keep up the good work Rick. Cheers from Canada.
That was awesome! Genuine talk and fun from a legend. The course looks AMAZING but there probably aren't too many days the wind isn't humming out there. Thanks Sir Nick and Rick for filming it for us to enjoy! You may have outdone yourself this time Rick!
For those people too young to have seen Faldo win majors, he was the absolute king of controlling the controllables. He wasn't flash, but he didn't waste shots. Kept it straight, and had an aura. Tigers era sort of swept away the old guard, but Faldo was the king of Ryder Cup 1979 to 1997. Great longevity and a superstar
I remember his win at Muirfield. IIRC it was 18 straight pars in the final round. He'd had a lot of grief from the press and in his speech at the presentation he said "I thank the press from the heart of my bottom." So many man-points were gained by him on that day.
I love the genuine fun and awe as you play with your guests. Sir nick was amazing, he was a champ to play in, though he seemed to have a good time as well.
There aren’t many things I love in sport, more than seeing a retired retired pro still playing the sport that served them well at the top of their game…purely because they still have the same love and passion for it as they ever did. It reveals the little kid in is still in them, that got them loving the sport in the first place.
you realize how great the top players are when you watch this video and see how thoughtful sir nick is with each shot. just amazing stuff. The top players are just on another level !
Faldo was my hero growing up. As a 15 year old kid in 1989 I loved watching him win the Maters for the first time, especially after it looked like he was going to lose. When Scott Hoch missed the 2 foot putt in the playoff I went nuts.
Never commented on one of your videos before. I used to play properly when I was 14-18 (member at a very nice club, handicap and all that jazz), then kind of left the game and only played once or twice in a year for the next 15 years. Watching you and Faldo here has made me message my old man and organise a day on the course again. Need my clubs re-gipped first, the rubber has gone. Great stuff and thanks for the inspiring content.
That’s fantastic Rick. I’m an Aussie, so I’m still a wee bit upset with Sir Nick for that Masters win over the Shark, but, all told…he deserved it. Great vid mate - thank so much.
Just mesmerising to watch, every piece of advice he gives is priceless. I have not tried to play golf since I was a kid and funnily enough I went to Myerscough junior golf academy where I believe you studied for a few year Rick? I've only very recently found your channel and you've really inspired me to just give it another go 20 years on. Do you have any videos on clubs for newbies?

Excellent video. Nick Faldo is one of the greatest golfers of all time and can still get it done. I really appreciated the opportunity to watch the exhibition of golf that you two provided us with on a cold, blustery day that would not have found me more than a short putt away from my warm fireplace.
Probably one of your best video's, when you have talent like Sir Nick Faldo it never leaves you even with age , brilliant. I like that he tells you you have a weak grip, can make video explaining the difference between weak and strong grips and advantages and disadvantages . Thanks Rick

Wow, what a video!! Probably the best. I may be biased, Cruden Bay is my home course. Loved the new hole, 9th tee to 16th green, might have to try it!! Loved Sir Nick’s competitiveness ( 6 majors), but also the fact he wanted to make you a better golfer with the chip into 5th green. Pure class!! P.S. watched the podcast from the clubhouse, absolute class. Love it!!
I liked the tip on strengthening your grip. I tried it. What a simple fix that added yardage to my golf shot. Funny I didn't notice how weak my grip was getting the older I was getting.

Great video Rick, picked a couple of brilliant tips that have really helped my game ⛳🏌️👌
What a guy! Imagine playing a round with this legend. Seems like one of the lads
Rick, as someone who has watched your channel forever, it's so cool to see you playing golf with an absolute legend like this. Good on you, man!
Sir Nick, my favourite player. First tournament I ever watched was the 96 masters. What a legend. Great vid.
I just Find Sir Nick so insightful.
it’s got to be an awesome feeling as a life long golf fan to play with a legend! Congrats!!!!
Absolutely loved this one Rick, enjoyed seeing a light hearted side of Sir Nick. Great content!
I wish this had been much longer, having played Cruden with my son in March in a similar wind. This was awesome. More please!
Cruden bay in march......a recipe for hypothermia.
This video makes me smile. So much fun to listen to two classy people play in a beautiful venue.
Sir Nick is an absolute freaking legend. Loved this and loved the podcast. Stoked to see a ‘Plus ten, Pro still wins’ with Faldo.
How awesome is this. A legend of the game Sir Nick Faldo. Thank you.
Never knew much about Sir Nick but now after seeing him here he’s become an all time favorite !! Thanks Rick ! Please do more with golf legends !! Kudos and Bravos to you all at RSG !
What a champ! I think one of your best guests yet 🍻
What a great sense of humor Sir Nick has! What a pleasure to watch.
My brother and I had the pleasure of walking 18 holes with Sir Nick at Wentworth. We were in awe of him. He was so lovely to us - we were only young and my God what a player. He won the world match play that week and it is an experience we will never forget.
What a guy! I didn’t think I could like him even more after listening to the podcast!
He’s still an amazing golfer! Imagine him in his prime!
yes, sad memories for us Aussies when he beat the Shark
@@philmoore71 You mean the greedy sack of chum.
I don't have to imagine i remember, i just delve into the memory bank, he really was good to watch, if not to listen to..
Amazing! I loved Sir Nick’s banter. He is a class act, and his putting is incredible. Great video Rick.
This brought a huge smile to my face. Well done gentlemen 😀
This could be my favourite video of yours yet. Quality course with great visuals. Useful tips and commentary which is just part of natural conversation and Sir Nick was just class.
Wow, he's one of our own and just oozes through. Could watch this all day. Thanks Rick for getting this together
So good to see the genuine excitement. You can tell this is likely the best day of Rick's life!
Nick Faldo is just a legend!! The knowledge he must have on how to hit any shot must be like an encyclopedia!!
Absolutely fantastic. Sir Nick comes across the type of guy you’d love to play golf with, a true Everyman. Well done. Wanted more, more more. Keep up the good work Rick. Cheers from Canada.
I have never seen such enjoyable golf in my life thank you Nick & Rick cheers mates
Wow Sir Nick is a great guest. He would be fun to play a round with. Great job Rick.
@John Anthony yep...remember it well. The British Press hate a winner who doesn't play ball with them. No wonder he spends most of his time in the US
Yeah he was the Glen McGrath of golf. Irresistibly consistent
@andy hodgson...snap. Same age and same favourite player
Sir Nick is such a likeable bloke, his humor is off the charts. And he still hasn't lost his championship form. Some of those shots were amazing.
They were great shots he has lost 15 yards( my conjecture) but still hits very crisp!!
I could listen to Faldo all day. He is so naturally entertaining.
Great to see the legend (and my golfing hero from back in the day) with Rick. My dream fourball was always Nick, Seve, Greg (Norman) and ... me, of course
I love both these guys. Lots of fun. Sir Nick is probably the best commentator golf has at present.
Excellent video. Nick Faldo is one of the greatest golfers of all time and can still get it done. I really appreciated the opportunity to watch the exhibition of golf that you two provided us with on a cold, blustery day that would not have found me more than a short putt away from my warm fireplace.
Sir Nick's still got game!
Probably the most fundamentally sound player of his day. A true golfing machine.
A stone-cold killer in his day and you can still see the competitive fire in him even in this
Loved it!
Probably one of your best video's, when you have talent like Sir Nick Faldo it never leaves you even with age , brilliant. I like that he tells you you have a weak grip, can make video explaining the difference between weak and strong grips and advantages and disadvantages . Thanks Rick
I haven't played for twenty years. Rick you are a fantastic ambassador for the Sport. You can feel the fun and comraderie of the game watch your videos.
Absolutely unbelievable how he hits that so perfect every single time 😂 it’s like a ball on a string
Love it!!
Wow what a course to have as your home course! It looks absolutely fantastic!
@@herenow6953 it is an amazing place. If you ever get this way give me a shout, will treat you to a round. 👍👍
I had the pleasure of watching Nick Faldo in one of his rare appearances in the Canadian Open. He’s a big guy.
Most fun and entertaining golf video I have watched in a long time. 10/10!
Wow, so glad I found this channel. Thank you, what a pleasure to watch the two of you banter, and such a gent is Faldo.
I liked the tip on strengthening your grip. I tried it. What a simple fix that added yardage to my golf shot. Funny I didn't notice how weak my grip was getting the older I was getting.
