    WHAT IS THE ATHEIST EXPERIENCE?
The Atheist Experience is a weekly call-in television show in Austin, Texas geared at a non-atheist audience. The Atheist Experience is produced by the Atheist Community of Austin.
The Atheist Community of Austin is organized as a nonprofit educational corporation to develop and support the atheist community, to provide opportunities for socializing and friendship, to promote secular viewpoints, to encourage positive atheist culture, to defend the first amendment principle of state-church separation, to oppose discrimination against atheists and to work with other organizations in pursuit of common goals.
We define atheism as the lack of belief in gods. This definition also encompasses what most people call agnosticism.

I was raised in a Christian cult which strictly forbade divorce, with excommunication as the punishment. This was paired with a strict "no sex until marriage" policy, which also carried the punishment of excommunication. This one-two punch of awful rules led to countless instances of young adults immediately rushing into marriage as soon as possible, only to be stuck in unhealthy, miserable relationships for the rest of their lives. The fact that men are taught that they are superior and that women should be "obedient" to their husbands really didn't help either.

I am a new(ish) atheist, and my wife and I have been married for 31+ years. For us, we decided we wanted to stay together forever when we agreed to marriage, and we knew it would have both good times and bad, but we wanted to go through all of them together. It was never a religious thing for us. I love my wife more today than when we got married, but I understand not all relationships are the same, so I support divorce and individually agreed terms for all. Btw, love the ahow.

I am an atheist and my wife is 100% christian. We have been married for 20 years. Our 3 boys are the center of our relationship and divorce is not something we had never contemplated
      and probably; we will never.
The TRUTH is ; when it turns about moral values, family values, finances, discipline our kids, etc.... there is nothing I would do differently if I was a Christian vice-versa if my wife was an atheist.
However, if we were basing our life in a lot of the bible teachings ; I would have been the worst husband to her and we would have certainly been the worst parents to the boys.

Two good things happened to me in my life. One, I was raised in a secular household. Religion wasn't hated, just ignored as unimportant. My wife is Indian and I'm her second husband. Her first husband was an alcoholic who would beat and rape her when he got drunk. She put up with it for years, he got counselling, etc. but she didn't go for a divorce due to the shame it would bring upon the family. When she finally couldn't handle it any longer and did get divorced, the stigma to her and her family was substantial, and sent her father spiralling into depression.
I believe that she only got halfhearted support from her family until she married me, and then they finally accepted her choice. Surprisingly there was no drama over her marrying a foreigner whatsoever.

You don't seem to realize that quoting an ancient storybook sourcebook that is chock-full of fantastical baseless claims and inadmissible hearsay is only circular thinking 🤔!
"In classical rhetoric and logic, begging the question or assuming the conclusion is an informal fallacy that occurs when an argument's premises assume the truth of the conclusion, instead of supporting it." Wikipedia.
"Like the rest of the New Testament, the four gospels were written in Greek. The Gospel of Mark probably dates from c. AD 66-70, Matthew and Luke around AD 85-90, and John AD 90-110. Despite the traditional ascriptions, all four are anonymous and most scholars agree that none were written by eyewitnesses." Wikipedia, Gospels.
There are thousands of alleged specific god-characters throughout history and none whatsoever have ever been competently proven by any of their respective claimants. Therefore the default position is that the Bible is simply just another example of ancient fictional literature.
It's far more believable that you are an unwitting victim of religious indoctrination childhood brainwashing that taught you 'What to think' rather than 'How to think' as per Proverbs 22:6, which reads, Train up a child in the way they should go; and when they are old they will not [easily] depart from it."
Therefore you are not even close to being able to competently honor your burden of proof requirements for the specific god-character of antiquity claim.
Obviously I have read the Bible cover-to-cover utilizing good reading comprehension and critical thinking skills. Reading the Bible cover-to-cover is one of the most reliable ways to become a reasonable skeptic/ non-believer. I can readily articulate about all the immorality and outright nonsense throughout the Bible until the claimants thereof are actually capable of honoring their burden of proof requirements for the plethora of fantastical baseless claims and inadmissible hearsay. It's been two thousand years and the alleged omnipotent narcissistic fear-mongering, misogynistic, genocidal, infanticidal, slavery condoning, sociopathic, god-character of the Bible is totally nothing more than a nonsensical character from ancient fictional literature.
Along with begging the question fallacy you chose to use the appeal to emotion fallacy.
"Appeal to emotion or argumentum ad passiones is an informal fallacy characterized by the manipulation of the recipient's emotions in order to win an argument, especially in the absence of factual evidence." Wikipedia.
Since the Bible claimant cannot competently honor their burden of proof requirements and thus always resorts to using a predictable assortment of 'logical fallacies' that are easily discredited and dismissed, I strongly recommend that you objectively analyze the reasoning behind why you so strongly believe in a nonsensical specific god-character of antiquity.

Biologically statistically males in humans are larger than females.
Therefore a long time ago there could be certain roles allocated.
But in modern times there is no need for these defined roles.
At home or work or out and about or anything, both menn and women can be equal.
However, this is not true when the activity is specifically about bodily strength (such as physical sports).
An easy example is when showing a male tennis player serve speed, its generally faster in speed than a woman's serve.
If we are speaking of brute force strength, then generally males win. But society, modern culture, everything now in civilized countries, is now not about brute physical strength.
Clearly the male and females minds are now confirmed to have equal intelligence.
The only reason the caller would find more women emotional in say relationships, is only due to upbringing and culture etc.

Ancient Celtic culture had all kinds of different "marriages".
Business partners could get "married". Best friends could get "married". Parents adopting an orphan child could get "married".
Because the point was that "marriage" in their eyes was just where you had a big public occasion - a big party, with family and friends - to announce an oath or a commitment.
It was a way to "seal the contract", as it were. Have a big public occasion and then, in front of everyone, swear your oaths. Be that to be a good husband or wife, or to be a good business partner, or to commit to looking after this orphan child by adopting them or whatever.
The general gist of it being that you were making this "contract" between parties very public and open and transparent... so that you've got the social pressure to keep it, and a whole bunch of people who know what commitments you made - as you made them very publicly, in a big party / ceremony, with everyone there - which acts to back it up.
You made this commitment in front of everyone, in the big public party, so if you break that commitment, then everyone's going to know you're not trustworthy.
But, yeah, "marriage" in that ancient culture was not limited to romantic / sexual engagements alone. You could "marry" anyone for any reason.
The point of the big formal ceremony - with everyone there - was that this puts social pressure on you to honour your contract. Because you just made these oaths and commitments in front of everyone.

Divorce shouldn't be viewed as a bad thing. There are good reasons to get a divorce, there are bad reasons to get a divorce. Sometimes it is the best decision for people to make in some situations.
In my old church, our pastor was also a "marriage counselor" and would very often talk about how he's been a counselor for hundreds of marriages and never once has suggested divorce. Up until the point where one of our congregation nearly beat his wife to death (there were seeing him because he had hit her in the past, and he still told them to "work through it"). After she nearly died, he kind of stopped talking about it so I don't know if his view has changed.

As a response to the title, the Bible is not two things; it is not a single book with one author, but 66+ books written over 1,000 years with various and contrasting view points and different genres. It also is not a treatise on theology or marriage or a myriad of other subjects. What we call theology is the result of several thousand years of philosophical interaction. The ancient writers of the Hebrew Bible/Old Testament were hardly trying to write a guide to life, although the Proverbs would be an exception. Much of the prophets are chastising the ancient people for either polytheism or bad behaviors like lying, theft, and not treating the lower classes with dignity. The narrative portions are recording ancient history but usually to serve a certain point. All in all, like any story from any culture, there are motifs and morals (as in “the moral of the story is…”) to take away from them and these take-aways were directed to a particular ethnic community.

They did some really cool scans on cis women versus trans women and cis men versus trans men, and the activity of the trans women matched the cis women and vice versa, the trans men brains lit up the same as the cis men.

Re the in-group and out-group differences between men and women, this is all about averages.
You might say that some trait for men is on average 50, and for women it's on average 60. And yeah, that is a clear difference, but it's just an average. If you look at the actual distributions, you may find that men range from 20 to 80, whereas women range from 30 to 90. In that case, despite men having a lower average, a third of all women (30-50) would be below the average man, and 83% of women would fall within the 20-80 range that men are in.
There would be far too much overlap there to say men are like this and women are like this.
