  • In this episode, I went to Chico's Tacos off of Dyer in El Paso Texas. Also talked a bit about the reality of new home construction in El Paso in 2021, specifically on the west side of town. And ALSO highlighted a fun furniture place off of Doniphan.

Chico' Tacos is an acquired taste. I grew up with it so I crave it a lot. I selectively take friends who are from out of town based on their finickiness for food. If they're picky or aren't used to different food types then I take them somewhere else. If they are adventurous and open-minded I'll take them there. Half will dislike it, the other half will love it. :p

Nerd with a camera talking to himself 😂!! Because of you we went to chicos tacos. At first taste impression we were not impressed. Because I forgot to pour the tomato sauce on them I ate one dry. Until we poured and drowned the rolled tacos in the tomato sauce then yep we agree they were very very good. That we ate at chicos multiple times during our 3 day visit in El Paso. In Spanish we would call these flautas ahogadas. We will eat there again when we go back in July. Another recommendation that we loved at eating at was Gorditas La Doña. We could not get enough of those gorditas at a very good price. Best gorditas ever find them on google maps and all the reviews are 5 stars!! ⭐️

Yea best Gorditas and food ever from anywhere in El Paso, Denver or even Juarez that I know of!! They are located at 3010 Trawood Dr. We found them on Google Maps and saw all the great reviews thats how we found them and the reason we went. And ate there a couple of times again also so good 😊!!

I need to visit those shops on Doniphan. Do you have an address. I grew up in EP when they only had one Chico's Taco's on Alameda. They sure have grown. I heard Martha Stewart and other celebrities ate at L an J's. No shortage of great Mexican food in El Paso for sure.

Love it or hate it. I guess ya gotta visit this El Paso icon. My wife and I visited there on a recommendation of a good friend who grew up there. Although they were very busy and the staff had their act together, it fell short in every category for us. As a guy who grew up four hours north in Albuquerque, I know good Mexican food. THIS AIN'T IT!
My wife and I are looking to move to El Paso and I'm sure we'll find some outstanding restaurants, but CHICO'S won't be one of our destinations! Very disappointed to find out that CAPETTOS closed. I knew it was good from three blocks away. I could smell the garlic!
Traveling there next month to check things out a bit.

First of all Chicos Tacos is Not Mexican Food!! It is El Paso Food. I grew up eating Chicos tacos and never liked it because my sister would force me to go after movies or football games. And now I love it and even had it shipped out to me when I was living in Colorado....lol. My recommendation when having Chicos is to try everything, the burgers, hotdogs, fries, grilled cheese, and of course the rolled tacos. (Always add that green salsa...) I also happen to love the Montwood location better, at least that's my experience!

@@creativecookingmarcolupita9514 Do you have any recommendations for quality restaurants in El Paso. Not sure we're moving there yet, but we do like the city and it does get my wife closer to her family. We're headin' there in a few weeks for a couple of days on our way to Mexico. CHICO'S does have a loyal following........ Not my me.

But here are some of my favorites: Ruth's Chris Steakhouse, Great American Land and Cattle, Garufa's Argentinian, Desert Oak BBq., and Cattleman's Steakhouse. For burgers, I like Papa Burgers in central location, Panda Burgers, Chuco Burgers, Rafa's for burritos, and Villa Del Mar for Mexican Seafood.

Some good stuff!

So all you taste is cheese with a hint of "taco"?
Ok great! who doesn't like cheese? is that why you people go nuts over this crap? Go to Walmart and get a can of Enchilada sauce, a bag of Frozen taquitos, a bag of shredded cheese, Throw in the microwave the Tacos then the sauce, add cheese when done warming up, and THERE you go! Chicos tacos, AND cheaper, Add sour cream if you like, thank me later.
