You know I love pico, and now you can make a massive batch of pico in a fraction of the time thanks to the Breville Sous Chef 16 Peel & Dice. This is a pretty high quality machine and it comes with tons of attachments which I will show you in this video. It dices, slices, juliennes, makes french fries, shreds and grates, and even peels potatoes.
Turns out the additional dicing kit comes free if you register your device online with Breville. Silly me.

I know your video was published two years ago. I wanted you to know that your review was so helpful in making my decision to purchase this expensive and awesome food processor. I've been eating whole foods, plant based for almost 5 months now and slicing and dicing was starting to wear me down. I knew in order to make my dietary changes last longterm, I needed help and this processor is it! It just came today and I've put it through it's paces. I absolutely love it!

how is the cleanup? I have a vegetable chopper that I don't feel saves me time because of the cleanup and this seems similar.

    • @createwithconfidence8094
      @createwithconfidence8094 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

@@CarolinaFlorezCoaching I run a sink of soapy dish water. I place the pieces in the water and swish the pieces around the water. I may use a paper towel to wipe around the bowl to ensure it gets clean. But I usually just use my hands and fingers. I rinse and lay out the pieces to dry. The vegetable chopper I had was much harder to clean than my Breville food processor.

@@CarolinaFlorezCoaching , clean up does take a bit, but you save some much time and as you can see the end result is amazing. It does come with a brush and a spatula that are specially designed. You must be careful around this machine and the blades are so SHARP!!

I and my gf like to cook Mexican over the weekend. She is in charge of pico de gallo and it takes her about 2 hours to make. We received our peel and dice food processor yesterday and it took her 1 hour to do first batch and 5mins to do the second batch. THATS INSANE!! We also did the guacamole in the mini bowl and later made salsa from scratch, and both of them took about 30 mins (including looking up salsa recipe and cleaning).

You could do the tomatoes last, like you demonstrated with just the top off and then dump the diced tomatoes into a colander or sieve to remove some of the fluid if it’s too wet.

I've been making pico for at least 15 years now, and have been using an Nemco EZ chopper for the dice work for the last 10 or so. I found this video because I am considering buying the Breville Sous Chef for making salsa, slaw, etc. Might also use this for pico, but it did look like it was tearing the tomatoes up, which I sort of expected because of either the distribution arm or how it feeds from a lateral movement to vertical.
I always leave the core in (some knife work required). I drain the juice and save it for use it in other things (soups, marinades because I'm an omnivore, etc). I fabricated a 1 gallon storage solution that strains out, leaving about an inch of room for juice collection.

I love how much attention to detail you have. I used to just make things like this with a straight S blade without worrying about the dicing.
But this definitely looks nice! Also - you could take the tomatoes and put them into a sieve to drain them before adding them to the whole batch to separate out some of the liquid. Thank you so much for doing this video. I have had the slice and dice pieces for a long time, like YEARS ! I’ve watched your video more than once. I made a quadruple batch of New England Clam Chowder today. I used the slice and dice for the potatoes, I also used the standard pieces to do the carrots, celery and onion but next time, I’ll use the slice and dice for the onion. I wasn’t ready last night to use the slice and dice when I did the onions. I watched your video today and said “That’s it, I’m using it !” I did it right the first time thanks to carefully watching you and how you put the parts together to use it. Chowder made and all in the freezer. Thanks so much ! I won’t be scared to use it anymore !

Easy to follow presentation. Being a relatively new home cook, I just purchased this Breville food processor, and wanted to watch a few video demos, before reading the user’s manual in order to get more comfortable with using this product. Appreciate your pointing out that the 8MM and 16MM dicing disks were not included with this processor. I thought they were included from looking at the pictures on the box… Would have been frustrating to have been ready to use them in following a recipe, and realized they were “sold separate” accessories ($130 accessories + $500 food processor = $630... Expensive!). Your pico recipe demo is an excellent example of how to use this food processor, and encouraged me to make some of my own pico!

I would love this food processor with the additional accessories. I've researched food processors and Breville was tops. Maybe one of the shopping networks will sell it with an easy pay option. I don't enjoy standing and cutting for hours.

Thank you so much for introducing this thing I just had the best morning I bought some tiny little potatoes that are Yukon gold and red potatoes over at Costco in a bag this thing peeled those potatoes beautifully it peeled the garlic that I used in my cabbage slaw that I make without sugar it made the best mashed potatoes and dressing I am thrilled to death with this thing I love that it peels potatoes garlic onions it’s going to peel beets and turnips I’m sure I bet there’s all kinds of things we haven’t thought of that it’ll peel and it’s so helpful it just did it right away so smooth running that is an amazing machine any serious cook needs one of these

Hey there thanks for the video. Would you still recommend this currently in 2023. Also even more so over the Reigning Cuisinart Custom 14?? I’m interested in both units.

what an amazing product, but wow on the amount of space all of those blade holders and the base would take up. Thanks for the overview, it is definitely a well thought out machine, although I think changing pieces parts takes up too much time.

Fantastic! So glad to learn of a machine that will not turn the veggies into mush. How long can you keep your 4qts of pico in the fridge? Also, what is your primary knife you're using? Thanks - happy to have found your channel!

Does the breville dice raw beets nicely? Any vegetables it has problems with?
Would you still recommend the machine today or have you found an even better one in the meantime?
    Thanks!

Do you think it's possible to buy the dicer accessories. Geared shaft and dicer grates & cutter to use with the wizz Pro 15, to save buying the whole machine again just to dice??

The same way you had to push down to get the veggies through is the same way if you had a manual chopper just pick your size press down and it comes out perfectly. It’s very convenient.

Great videos, Dillan! You are making the kinds of recipes that really speak to my binge side, but look like I could actually lose weight!! Can't wait to make this pico. But when you make such a big batch, can you freeze the extras?

Well, I bought a Breville 16 cup pro for $400 a year and a half ago and it's great. Now it will only cost another $350 for the peel and dice attachments. Oh joy!!! But it looks amazing dicing stuff up!!!

You don't need to go to the trouble of coring the tomatoes to remove the wet part in the center. Just cut off the core end and squeeze the seeds into a bowl. It will remove most of the wet part very quickly.

@@swmiller999 yes, but not for commercial use. For commercial, the Rob-o-cup is a better choice IMO. I do have a restaurant and have both, the Robo there and the Sous Chef 16 at home. Although I like the Breville accessories way better!

@ELmer ... Can you share some of the recipes that you cook? Or, at least help people figure some out. We have been trying to make a few Mexican recipes that we like at home. In Houston, it's got so expensive for a family to eat out, and we also care for my elderly mother. So, we have to be careful with money. But you just can't take 5 people out now, on what Middle class people make.
